I am a little disappointed that rockstar hasn't released any movies or anymore screen shots from vice city for pc. There are about 2 weeks to go before the game is released.  Around the same time ( 2 weeks before release for the ps2 version) there were loads of screenshots and movies on various websites. Which leaves me thinking is the game gonna be delayed? :(  :(  :/  please reply back i would like to hear your views on this.

I think fisker_Q is right they just dont care about pc gamers anymore. When the game was like almost out for playstation there was all this hype with all the movies and the screenshots. The movies and screenshots they have released you can count the amount on just your ten fingers. We made them and this is how they treat us. If the pc version is supposed to be so much better than the ps2 version why dont they released some good screenshots and movies

Because they've already shown every aspect of what the game will be like when they released the PS2 version, so now they just have to show what will be different on the PC version - some high res screenshots and highres movies, that's it.

Think abit, aye?

Erm, its not gonna be immensely different from the PS2 Version so they have only released media which highlights changes, thus lower levels, not because of disregard.

I think that most pc users who are waiting for Vice will have seen a million screenshots from PS2 already, have seen clips and probably played it too.

If R* start releasing loads of videos, it won't really show off how good it's going to look on the pc - since the videos can't be the same quality.

Screenshots can show the quality, and maybe they've not released loads, but they are teasing us with a few amazing looking ones.

I think that by doing this, R* will make the pc version even better since it will be much better looking than the ps2 version, and we know it's going to be good - but it make it more of a surprise hopefully.

Since the game's the same - screenshots and videos wouldn't really make as much of an impact as people seeing it for the first time looking so good.

If that makes sense.. :) Just a thought.  Maybe R* are being lazy in not publicising it as much. Hopefully they have some hidden reason for that..? Oh well, 3 weeks to go - I think we can survive, just.

thanks for clearing that up. I understand the policy behind it a little more. I think you are right on the button :colgate:

1. There are barely changes from PS2->PC.

2. You can make highres/quality movies.

3. If Rockstar really cares about the pc gamers other than the profit it gets, after finally milking the PS2 version, why do they not release mod tools as initially planned with GTA 3.

4. Why didnt the release multiplayer as originally planned?

5. Why did they lie(or code like crap) about the system requirements?

6. Why does Rockstar or whoever in charge of web developement, make a really cool PS2 website but when it comes to pc its just some crappy site with a couple of buttons. They also did it with GTA 3.

The answer is easy, because they dont care, if they get the money then they continue on a new PS2 version.

Of course dont get me wrong, ill get Vice City as well, but im still saying that if Rockstar just had a tiny bit of respect left for pc gamers then it would've been released at the same time as the PS2 version or even before and with mod and multiplayer support.

1. Yeah - I know there's no changes - apart from how it looks - so why not leave that as the only thing we have to look forward to and not throw it all over the place with videos and screenshots before the game is released. It's the only thing we have to look forward to - so it might as well have an impact on us when we play it for the first time. I doubt R* are thinking this way - but there might be a chance. ?

2. Yeah - but there not going to have the quality of the pc version - they might look good - but are not going to show it off fully, I think. And see number 1.

3. I read in previews that there would be more modding ability - presumably with the game, or made by R* at some point.

4. As originally planned for GTA3 or Vice? I've never heard anything from R* about multiplayer planned for Vice, or GTA3.

5. Eh? For GTA3? I think it was just cause it was a bit rushed. Hopefully they've spent more time on problems with Vice.

6. I think they probably think that one website will do for one game.  Plus there are so many decent GTA related websites already they wouldn't be able to compete, or produce anything as worthwile since they don't make mods etc, the players do.

But they are probably at this point more interested in making money - so if they cut back on pointless advertising which isn't going to increase sales that much since millions of people are going to buy it from hearing about, seeing and playing the ps2 version. The more money they make at this point the more they can spend making the next GTA even better. And hopefully they will make a multiplayer version, maybe even just for the pc..?

That's probably all crap - but we have to hope. So what if they don't advertise - hopefully they are spending all their time making the pc version as good as it can possibly be.

No matter what they do or don't do for the pc version - everyone's gonna buy it - and they know that - so maybe they are being assholes about it - but they are still giving us one of the best games ever.

I feel dizzy now, lol

one thing we really need is IN-GAME screenshots of GTA VC!!

Before GTA 3 was released there were no in-game shots.. only pre-made & photosopped (edited) shots like  this!

And the reality was like this one...

That's really disappointing.. Don't you think??

What is the reason for not showing any in-game shots?

I think it would be a great benefit to R* if they added multiplayer to the next GTA. I was reading a review in PC GAMER magazine for Carmageddon TDR 2000, the third in the Carmageddon series. The review talks about how the makers of Carmageddon used the same idea three times in a row without making any big changes or adding anything to the game, and therefore noone was really interested in it anymore.

At the end of the review it compares this to the way the GTA series are going.

Of course I do hope the Hypocrite Siren has been set off in the minds of all those currently lauding GTAIII as the Greatest Moment of Gaming History. Rockstar, you've only got a couple of years untill that bubble bursts.

I'm not a huge fan of the magazine - I don't read it often. I don't know if I can trust their reviews, and I'm not sure if they are right in this. But it does seem like the GTA series does need a change, to give it more life. Vice, although being a huge, interesting game, does seem to lack any great changes from GTA3. In fact some people are rather dissapointed with it. They have already played GTA3 and Vice is just the same thing with a few small additions - weapons, cars, helicopters. It's enough to get us interested in the game, and to get millions of people to buy it, but I think R* will make another similar GTA before making any big changes to the game. I think that San Andreas is most definetly the next game in the GTA series, and will be another GTA3 style game with some new weapons, cars, and another addition similar to the leap to having  helicopters in Vice. But I doubt we will see any multiplayer from R*. I think that after San Andreas R* will make the move to a multiplayer GTA, although if it will be a multiplayer only version.. I doubt it, if it's in the same style of GTA3. Some big changes would have to be made to make a multiplayer only version work.

Maybe there is hope that this is wrong and R* will surprise us with multiplayer sooner than I expect. What seems more likely is that they will take the easy money-filled road and make a spiced up version of Vice which everyone will be happy to play - but will not give us any big changes. If R* don't make a multiplayer or a significantly different single player after this, I doubt the GTA series will be worthwile anymore.

Fingers crossed R* don't go for the easy option - and use their imagination to make something fantastic and new and different.

I think that's my longest, most rambling post ever. I'll shut up now.

Damn - I could have answered that with one word. :(

1 and 2. We've had like half a year to check it out on ps2, many pc gamers has been down by the friends and checked it out or maybe bought it for ps2.

Also just because you release movies and other media it doesnt mean it has to spoil thing for us, and yes you can do high quality movies with no problem, still the size thats the biggest problem.

3. lets see about that. the features dont list it though, but they did show off some skinning and modelling, might be that they make it official.

4. it was discussed under a press conference, i dont think they actually got to withdraw the statement later, they just sent it out, although rumours had already denied multiplayer.

5. look at the minimum requirements for vc, thats not fixing it, thats just shoving it under the carpet and pretend nothing happened.

In fact its not the biggest problem to run GTA 3 on a 700MHz cpu with just a Geforce 2, lowbudget cpu or nonlowbudget cpu.

6. Well there's a point in that, but then they could as well have copied over the ps2 site, and customized it a bit.
