Slappy212
Is there a way to do this? I keep reading where you can skip or speed up the animation. I don't mean when you pull the horse close to the animal, not going to bother doing that each and every kill. I must be in the minority but the cumbersome way you interact with objects, loot and skinning - it just gets tiresome. No mods so far to speed this kinda thing up or streamline it. Any tips? Dryspace
Of course that kind of thing is cumbersome. Far Cry 3 has the same issue (I haven't played the sequels yet). It's the kind of thing that really annoys me, because it's such a glaring pustule on an otherwise well-made game. In Far Cry 3, I couldn't help but thinking, "Okay....I've only spent 20 or 30 hours with this game so far--not months or years of development time--and it's obvious to me that the way to handle the skinning, or any similar action, is to do the whole routine the first time, the 'Oh! Gah!...Disgusting!' bit. That's good. It's a new experience, and it's conveying information to the player. Maybe do it the next time as well." "But then...make the sequence, say, 10% shorter the next time. And then 10% shorter the time after that. And keep gradually making the sequence get itself *#%!ing over with faster and faster until it takes no more than, say, 2 or 3 seconds tops. In this way, the player likely never even realizes that the sequence is getting shorter. What's important is that he doesn't curse the developer the 10th and 40th time he has to skin something." crazedZ10

I think it would be better if they just let you skip the animation, which gives people options. Personally, I actually like watching the skinning animations and never felt like they were too long. Personally, I actually like watching the skinning animations and never felt like they were too long. Customization is a good thing. In the case of something like this though, I don't think that removing the animation entirely is a good option, as far as menu settings are concerned. There needs to be some visualization indicating the action being performed, so in this case your suggestion of an option could apply to that of setting the animation to the minimum length. But still, even though I can't identify with the sentiment that sitting through literally the same protracted animation a hundred times is enjoyable, I am convinced that if the game were designed the way I described, you would never have known the difference. In other words, all of the people who think watching the exact same sequence over and over and over again is tedious would be satisfied, and you would be satisfied as well, because there is no way in the world I can believe that you would have played the game and complained: "SONOFAB--!!! This is the fortieth time I've had to sit through this animation that is not near long enough! What is wrong with developers? This animation better start getting longer and longer or I'm going to get really annoyed!" Lol, so yeah...I stick by my assertion that you would probably never have realized that the animation was getting ever so slightly shorter each time, and even if you did, you would not have complained about it like most people complain about tedious identical animations that last too long.
