So if i drop my framerate to 30 I could get longer storms? lol seems kind of silly. Always just sunny days
Spider-Vice 43,479
This isn't frame rate related. There's been other comments about the weather looking like someone flicked a light switch at random on consoles too since October 2018 if you search around the main forum. I've had long storms at 60 FPS, and most others seem to last normal amounts of time at this frame rate and close to this frame rate.
Ghetzi 77
Could just be me, but while it seems like Arthur's cores are draining slower, my horse's cores are draining faster. Took a ride from Rhodes to Elysian Pool and back and had to feed boi-ah carrots two different times. Prior to today's patch, I almost never had to worry about his cores while Arthur's was constant maintenance. Anyone notice that?

X_MasterDave_X 2
Quote Players with NVIDIA graphics cards and 4-core or 6-core CPUs should install the GeForce Hotfix Driver Version 441.34 from NVIDIA and remove any launch arguments to resolve this issue: For more information, please see this support page: https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/360038940333 Not sure if this is a good advice for all the Windows 7 Users, that play the game, as this seems to be a Win 10 Driver. Seems we have to wait until 441.34 gets a Win7 Variant too.

jippa_lippa 607
Ok, so I finally started... What can I say. GLORIOUS! There are a few things though....in about 5 hours I got about 3 crashes ERROR_GFX_STATE... And also, I get this glitch were in some specific contexts (like when there's a change in shadow between an interior and an exterior) I get these very sharp shadows (basically a clear line separating the shadow from the light). This is what I mean: Performance is what I expected...never at 60 fps except for valleys at night, but the performance is very consistent and the triple buffering is doing quite a good job, to be fair. I never experienced extreme losses in framerate, and when it goes down it does so very smoothly. ON VULKAN, that is. Edited November 20, 2019 by jippa_lippa

It’s a bit disappointing that R* create the most amazing open worlds and then let little things like this take the gloss off. There has been angry talk of progressive downgrades since release on the consoles, and on the Xbox One X I’ve noticed little difference. Some people will be up in arms at me suggesting it’s generally fine, but honestly I think it still looks great and most changes have been marginal. But one thing I really have noticed is the weather and daylight transitions become more abrupt. Its a bit like you’ve walked into a marble lined pristine bathroom, premium soaps, proper hand towels, gleaming mirrors. Then you find out no one has bothered to flush the last turd away. Gracias! Change settings from the XML file. To access it: Documents>Rockstar Games>Red Dead Redemption 2>Settings>system This will open in notepad. Now go all the way down and change the resolution - assuming it's 1920x1080. <screenWidth value="1920" /> <screenHeight value="1080" /> To get full screen window - type "0" in the windowed value. <windowed value="0" /> Save and close. If it still crashes, then delete the "Settings" folder. Note: this will completely reset your graphics settings, so take a screenshot of them before deleting. It was set to low for me by default. Mine was still set to Ultra, but it made me curious about some of the less obvious settings in that file. Many are direct from the in-game settings, of course, but I wonder if anyone has a breakdown of the purpose or effect behind things such as <transferQueuesEnabled value="false" /> or <damageModelsDisabled value="true" />, and so forth. Not a programmer (obviously) - but editing things like pedLodBias value and deepsurfaceQuality have made a difference in gameplay and it makes me wonder if there are other settings like that to either check or experiment with?

Spider-Vice 43,479
Just came across the first severe issue I've had with the game. It crashed in one of the Epilogue Part 2 missions, and now I can't load back in again, I assumed it corrupted my save (but it makes backups every autosave), but I'm getting the GFX_STATE error which is graphics related. Wat. Even if it corrupted the save, it's weird because there was no saving going on at that moment, it was just riding back during a mission. Gonna try to revert to the save backup from 45 minutes ago but hmm.

This worked for me last night: Turn off cloud saves in Rockstar Launcher RDR2 settings, load into RDO, pause, load your last save file that ISN'T an autosave, and it should work. I even got noticeably better FPS on that save, immediately.
Spider-Vice 43,479
My previous non-autosave is pretty old. I'm going to try deleting the shader cache and graphics settings, I have a feeling the shader cache might be corrupted. Edit: Okay, it was a corrupted shader cache. The game must've crashed while writing to it. Removing the caches in the Settings folder, along with the dynamic settings .bin files worked like a charm. X_MasterDave_X 2
As a Win7 64bit User i cant use the Nvidia hotfix Driver. Just wanted to say that i tried to delete the command line "-cpuLoadRebalancing", with the actual Patch. I got again frozen screen after 1-2 hours playing. Especially in a City like St Dennis. As i went into the theater it freeze several times as the arabian woman did her fire dance. As i used the command line again all freezes were gone. But i have a older Graphic card, Nvidia 970 GTX with a 3,5 GB + 500 MB slower Ram. Also a 6 year old intel i7 3820 4 real core and 16 GB RAM.
