[November 19, 2019] General / Miscellaneous – PC

  • Improvements to address an issue that resulted in stalls on 4-core and 6-core CPUs
  • Players with NVIDIA graphics cards and 4-core or 6-core CPUs should install the GeForce Hotfix Driver Version 441.34 from NVIDIA and remove any launch arguments to resolve this issue: For more information, please see this support page: https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/360038940333
  • Improvements to address an issue that resulted in a permanent mouse cursor being displayed at all times when launching the game via the Epic Games Store
  • Improvements to address an issue that resulted in the player’s cores draining at a faster rate than intended in Story Mode when running at high frame rates
  • Improvements to address an issue that resulted in player weight decreasing at a faster rate than intended in Red Dead Online when running at high frame rates
  • Improvements to address an issue that resulted in players not being able to place Waypoints on the Pause Menu Map in the correct location
  • Improvements to address an issue with matchmaking in Red Dead Online that resulted in players with incompatible control settings joining the same session. We recommend that players using mouse and keyboard controls should switch to ‘Free Aim’ targeting mode before entering Red Dead Online.
  • Improvements to address an issue that resulted in all custom graphical settings reverting to a low preset when the game was updated
  • Improvements to address an issue that resulted in an ‘Activation Required’ error when loading the game after system hardware or device changes were made
  • Improvements to address issues that resulted in a crash and displayed the ‘Failed to initialize graphics device’ or ‘Unable to initialize graphics driver ’errors when launching the game. If this issue still occurs, please make sure you have the latest graphics card drivers installed for your system.
  • Improvements to address an issue that resulted in a crash when launching the game in Fullscreen display mode while using Vulkan
  • Improvements to address an issue that resulted in a crash when launching the game with some graphics-related launch arguments active
  • Improvements to address an issue that resulted in a crash during loading screens when entering Story Mode or Red Dead Online
  • Improvements to address an issue that resulted in a crash while modifying weapons at the Gunsmith in Red Dead Online
  • Improvements to address issues that resulted in random crashes and the error “Red Dead Redemption 2 exited unexpectedly” during gameplay

Make a backup of your settings.xml and bin files before updating. When it resets just restore them I guess.

this is a bad idea, because they might add new setting and possibly crash the game due to different settings

Maybe it's not all bad. The last time they did this they added the nigh on useless tree tessellation. I wonder what useless feature that nobody will run because it sucks up far too much performance for very little visual return we got this time.

Well no new settings have been added. Also DeepSurface settings is set to High now instead of ultra in settings.xml.

my stuttering is gone 

CPU I5 4590   /GTX1060

*update*

single mode no freeze playing for 15 minutes 

online still freeze for few seconds,but no freeze in solo lobby,so i guess it's the network issue

Just make a backup of the file before starting it up. Then set it all over again.

Holy sh*t. Quick benchmark. Got 4-5 fps boost especially in St.Denis. FPS is much more stable.

Just because you don't use it and can't run it, that doesn't mean it's useless.

I'm about a minute into the benchmark and performance hasn't improved. I wasn't expecting them to pull magical improvements out of their ass but a fix for Pascal being dogsh*t and underperforming would be appreciated. (Although that might be on NVIDIA)

It's Nvidia fault, same with Maxwell. Radeons, even RX 470 are faster than 1060

I can run it, I just choose not to because it sucks up 5-7FPS and unless I am playing Tree Inspection Simulator 2020 I can't tell the difference.

First impressions, I am really happy with the slight FPS boost even though it is 4-5. I'll take it. Now am off to play.

It's either better or the same at the same settings in Valentine for me. Will have to test more later, waiting on a change log to see what's happening.

Again, it's not useless just because you don't use it. I use it and it looks so good. It's the best update to the game since it released.

On one hand, more FPS, nice.

 

On the other hand, you'll lose your cores faster and become a skinny skeleton in no times.

 

A curse in disguise. 😛

Yeah, fps is much more stable around towns such as Valentine now. Getting around 45fps.

 

Specs:

 

GTX 1070

I5 4760k oc'd @4.4ghz

16gb ram

resolution: 2560x1440

got a better fps in test with same setting ultra-high before patch was 52fps avarage now 56fps

I did notice Valentine seemed to be faster but it could be the weather conditions on my 1060. It was like very close to a stable 60 FPS at the same settings as before.

They haven't released yet. My performance is quite a bit better though. I was getting occasional dips into the low 50s before, now my lowest dips are mid 50s. Valentine in particular seems to be performing a lot better.

Running the benchmark to completion I got the exact same results as before. Nothing outside margin of error. Had a quick run around and didn't notice any differences either. Be interesting to know where the boost that some people are seeing is coming from.

Could have to do with 4 core CPUs which were an issue? I have a 6 core/12 thread CPU so my "improvements" might have to do with the weather being overcast and thus rendering less shadows.
