Heads up: RDR2 PC does not support Win7, and you can't stream it.

I think this is an important consideration for tens of thousands of gamers enjoying their perfect Win7 gaming PCs, since minimum specs say Win7. Here's the logic for it. Tested by me since I enjoy all my other games in Win7 without issue.

Win7 = DX11.1 until M$ has delayed DX12 enough to sell enough Xboxes and Win10S licenses.

DX11.1 is not supported by this game, which is disappointing since my AAA titles do.

So it doesn't support Win7.

Vulkan is cutting edge and better than DX12, so I want to play on that and stream the game. But OBS and SLOBS are not cutting edge and so don't record from Vulkan, and you can't switch to DX11.1 to take the FPS hit because the game doesn't support it.

So you can't stream it.

So that's why my game is running Vulkan and I can't switch to see if DX12 is better.

Oh well, I'm not "upgrading" my OS any time in the foreseeable future.

I successfully streamed RDR2 Vulkan to Twitch with Geforce Experience, and it performed well. You lose the alerts, redeems and other interactions plus the overlay layout you set up, cam and chat works tho. This compromise is due to not supporting DX11.1 and therefore not Win7. Therefore I can't stream it for my audience.

Other issues were discovered during play, like changing binds hanging the game hard. Some issues were not issues, just the devs again comically being surprised at things like who would ever want 90 FOV or have first person not look like a clunky Unity template. It needs two promotions to get to be an A game.

RDR2 supports Windows 7 just fine with Vulkan and Microsoft's DirectX 12on7 wrapper... Vulkan is an issue for streaming (when it shouldn't be anymore...), but DX12 should work on both OS's, no?

Windows 7 is ancient. What is this? 2009?

Also DX12 works on W7 now.

I have been saying DX11 should just die because of heavy load on the drawcall overhead and then there are posts like this. SMH!

Windows 7 isn't ancient. It's still more flawless than Windows 10. If RDR2 had DirectX 11 there would be a similar performance like in other games that uses DirectX 11. It's insane how no one have realized that DirectX 12 is causing issues in the game and not the game itself. Where can you explain that DirectX 11 should die when it is by far the most stable API currently? It's not a coincidence that other games are working better with DirectX 11 than DirectX 12. Even The Division and Battlefield 1 have problems when DirectX 12 is enabled.

I said flawless, not better. There's a difference. Too bad only few does the actual research.

All 3 OS's (Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10) are great in their own ways. Removing Windows 10 bloatware helps a little, but it still limits the CPU and uses more resources.

Windows 7 gets supported less nowadays anyway.

Windows XP was "flawless" too yet people had to migrate to Windows 7 to continue to play games. It's just a matter of time.

The people who still use Windows 7 are the same people who believe the government is spying on them and trying to take away their guns.

And you thought Windows 10 and Facebook are more secure? I'm laughing dude. Nothing is secure and no one is safe from anything.

I get better FPS in games on Windows 7 on both my desktop and laptop.

I've always hated those who bitch about how their outdated os will not receive feature updates anymore and refuse to upgrade.

How can anyone complain about OS's they are happy with?

They shouldn't be complaining when they are not supported neither.

Windows 7 is a part of the minimum requirements and still supported in the NVIDIA drivers.

Just because it is listed under Minimum requirements doesn't mean it will run flawlessly. It will have loads of issues. W7 is trash for gaming and everyone should accept it.

Playing the game on win7, don't know about streaming but game runs very smooth and stable for me, I had two crashes in my first ~20h of play but nothing for the last 2 weeks.

The reason many experienced users stick with old OS's like win 7 has nothing to with fear of governments, gun control or being probed by ayylmao's etc.
After many years of usage one come to know the OS very well and where and how to dial it in just perfectly for ones wants and needs.

Once you're then forced to upgrade because it becomes obsolete the new one you're forced onto isn't new anymore - which is a good thing.
Because now the forums will be full of information from early adopters that have worked out all the kinks and annoyances power users will have
so one can readily solve any issues that'll come up and how to go about customize all the obscure non-obvious stuff to your liking.

At least you can play this game on an outdated OS. You should be thankfully for that. I can understand that migrating to another OS can be frustrating, but better today than tomorrow. And in the end it's the fault of the streaming software if it doesn't support Vulkan. People should just play the game, you know, like in the old days where we've played games for our entertainment and not for the pleasure of others. Have migrated from Win7 to Win10 this year, because many games don't support Win7 anymore and i am amazed at how stable Win10 is.

It is listed there for a reason. And we have the rights to complain about something that is supposed to work as long as everyone is within the minimum requirements, which in this case we are. I also got RDR2 to run on Windows 7 with the help from the pagefile. No crashes at startup and in-game.

Previous AAA titles ran flawlessly the first time on my Windows 7 installation. The newer OS's have more loads of issues.

It can't be trash if it does something better than newer OS's. I have higher FPS on both my desktop and laptop on Windows 7 in all my games - not just older games.

Like I said, just because it is listed under minimum, that doesn't mean it should run flawlessly.

What made you think I laughed? You windows 7 fanboys reminds me of PS4 and Kojima cults. Basically 7 has this cult following which you can't reason or argue with. Peace.

I actually avoided fanboyism here, you're the only one digging into it. Now you are directly attacking the rest of us when we're doing the right thing. It's not our fault you can't read a simple reply.
