Please Help - Sound Not Working

This is a PC/Win10 issue. Trying to help a buddy troubleshoot his sound problem from remote.

 

Explanation of Problem: Buddy enters the game and can hear the two shotgun blasts from the Rockstar Games Ad at beginning of game. As soon as he enters the menu he hears no sound. This continues for the rest of the experience (i.e. no menu music/nature sounds, no menu clicks, he tries to start the game and hears nothing in game.) This problem has existed since launch including post bug fix patch on ~Nov 6th.

 

 

Some Important Details: He is using an Afterglow Universal Wireless Gaming Headset. He has ruled out running game while discord is open (i.e. attenuation issues, etc.) He has checked volumes and output devices in both Win and game. Output device registers as Afterglow headset and matches his Win output device. Still no sound

 

Any ideas to try would be fantastic. Thanks ahead of time.
