a way to remove motion blur?

No Im  not talking about the graphics settings but what happens to the visuals while your character moves\camera moves...it seems to be out of focus for a few seconds and then it goes back to a sharp image. Is this intentional ?

Glad I’m not the only one. Help on this would be very welcome. Even just scrolling around the map there’s this strange motion blur effect.

Well if you have TAA enabled it probably is, TAA is very blurry in nature and is even worse when you move the camera around.

disabling TAA makes everything flicker and Arthur is pixelated. not worth it

Yes that's what i'm saying, it's TAA causing the issue, the only way you might be able to fix the issue is using the Nvidia overlay to apply a sharpening filter, if you're using AMD i'm not sure then.

no....it gets rid of the blur but not the motion blur - you still need to stand still for the game to look the sharpest . Just the slightest camera movement and it's back to being blury for a few seconds

I've noticed this and seen others bring this up, saying GTAV does this, too. It's a Rage engine thing?

Yes it is. That's literally what TAA does.

That's exactly how TAA works...

*sigh*....so there is no getting around it ? no fix ? I can't disable TAA or the game will look noticeably worse

The only way I manage to reduce this effect was change resolution scale to 1.250 and keep TAA on medium. Tanks less FPS then MSAA.

There is no simple fix. It's TAA that causes the blur, but turning it off has noticeable tradeoffs in visuals because the game was designed around using it. Best you can do is put it at medium to get rid of the bulk of jaggies, and then apply a sharpening filter.  The game has an in-game sharpening settting as well for TAA but if it even does anything, it's not noticeable.

TAA takes information from previous frames. That's why it looks blurry in motion because the frames are different. It looks sharp while standing still because the previous frames have the same information as the current frame. The only "fix" is to use another method of antialiasing like increasing the internal resolution scaling, using MSAA, or maybe SMAA through reshade if it works with the game.

a lie ? I can open the nvidia filter menu with the geforce experience (ALT+F3) and use the sharpening slider. It makes the game look sharper and better so i don't know what you are talking about

It already works. Just not when you use it via NVCP, you have to use the Geforce Experience overlay and apply a filter using Nvidia Freestyle

Use the geforce overlay and use the image filter with sharpening, same thing except it works with Vulkan.

It's a sharpening effect, there's no placebo affect going on or anything, it simply makes the game sharper. Here are some comparison photos I did with it on (1st) and off (2nd). There is a difference.

Although not a big difference, there is still one.

I definitely see trails coming off Arthur's feet when riding a horse quickly, even with MB turned off, especially noticeable going along the train tracks.

That's called ghosting, another trait that comes along with TAA in some games. Can't be fixed unless you use another AA.

Yeah, I forgot about how TAA uses the previous frame, switching to FXAA with MSAA on the first setting has definitely sharpened things up when on the move, really should have dawned on me sooner why I was still seeing MB effects, doh.
