Newbie question

[Snidefarthing]

Brand new to this game.  I did the car race in the beginning, the shootout with the motorcycle gang, and then I messed around and got killed and wound up at the hospital. Now I don't have a mission marker and have no idea what to do next.  What do I need to do, restart the game?  Playing on a PS4.

i would try switcching characters

Look for the question mark on the map, you have to do that stupid strangers and freaks mission.

It's pretty crazy to think there's still people out there experiencing this game for the first time. I wish I could go back in time and do the same on that fateful night of September 16th, 2013.

You never need to restart the game. Always the thing to do is look out for mission markers on the map (either letters or symbols eg "?") and go to them. Occasionally you might need to wait for time to pass for another marker to show up, in which case you should go to your safehouse (marked on the map with a house symbol) and save the game, which advances the in-game time as well as saving your progress.

 

Later in the game (when you play as more than one character) it might be that the character you're currently playing as doesn't have any more missions unlocked, so then you'd switch characters and play the other guy's missions to unlock more.
