Why can't the MKII use countermeasures on the ground?

After I did all the work killing the targets, some other player decided to swoop in last minute and steal my business battle crates.    He grabbed the first one as I had to go do something, but I made it back in time to fight for crate 2.    Finding it in by the side of trevors trailer I seen the other guy already on his way back after delivering the first crate.    By the time I spawned a new MKII (my old one was blew up) the other guy was already stalking me.     Now my line of thought of thought was "OK, I'll jump on the MKII, immediately fire a chaff, and that should give me enough time to boost away turn around and blast the guy".     So I got on the bike, hit right d-pad, hit X to boost and got blasted.      For some reason the chaff never popped, I presume because I was on the ground?

 

I suppose next time I need a different plan of action.     But was this always how countermeasures worked, can they not be used unless your already in the air?

I guess even for a flying tumor, it is somewhat realistic for an aircraft only to be able to use its countermeasures while in the air.

 

So yeah, get in the air and blow some sh*t up.

Never actually noticed that about the countermeasures before.    Guess I gotta practice with the ray gun, or use the minigun next time someone is stalking me.      I always thought you'd be able to just jump on the bike, pop chaff and go.    It's good to know.

Spend you time training with the ray gun. It really seems to be the most effective (and satisfying) way of taking them down.

When you're on the ground with the Mk2, the button to activate countermeasures switches on/off the headlights instead. That's what most likely happened. 

 

Also, there is a bug where the countermeasures vanish for no reason, even though you used them a couple of times. You should have around 10.

Ah right, the headlights.    That could of been it.

 

As I said it was a brand new bike just spawned in, so countermeasure supply wasn't a issue.

Oh, I'm aware. I'm just saying that there is a bug that causes your countermeasures to vanish.

Because on the ground it's a ground vehicle and as per the coding ground vehicles cannot use Countermeasures.
