Guest Billy Russo
Thought this would be a good thread. YouTube is packed to the brim with quality shorts, I've watched plenty of them over the years, and a lot of them can be better than big budget releases. What is so great about a short is they are not trying to fill out time. They have a plot and they don't try and extend that plot for over an hour or maybe more. With some movies these days you really get the impression that they're just trying to fill up time so it can be in Cinemas. I'll post a few to get started: Kitbull A really charming & emotional Pixar short. I usually don't cry at movies, but this one managed to get me teary eyed for sure. Anything where animals are getting mistreated will make me feel a certain type of way, and it's hard not to get impacted by it. If this doesn't make you feel a range of emotions, then I'm not sure what will. Never Hike Alone A fan film based on the Friday the 13th series which has really impressive camerawork, shots and pacing for such a small budget. The acting is also surprisingly good. Pretty beefy compared to most short films, coming in at 53 minutes. But I'd really recommend it. It's free and it's a good time. The Black Hole This was a really short one, but it's still remembered by me despite the fact I saw it years ago. Post yours. Mister Pink
Good idea for a thread. The Black Hole film reminds me of a Looney Tunes cartoon I used to have when I was a kid. My favourite short that I've watched a dozen times is 6 Shooter. It's an Oscar winning short and first film by Irish-English playwright/writer/director Martin McDonagh (3 Billboards...', In Bruges, 7 Psychopaths). It stars Brendan Gleeson and we get an funny cameo by his son Domhnail Gleeson. The main star is Rúaidhrí Conroy. He's an extremely rare talent. He didn't pursue acting really and you just know he could have been as big as any other Irish actor. McDonagh's style doesn't change. It's firmly in that tragic-comedy category. Guest Billy Russo
Not sure how if you guys have seen this one, but I absolutely love it. Very well animated, and the story is captivating for being so basic.

Whenever I see Brendan Gleeson i'm unfortunately always reminded of this weird and oddly disturbing short film called Cáca Milis that we were forced to watch in Irish class. I still remember it well years later so I guess it made an impact. Not my favourite but it is well made, I just resent it as it reminds me of Irish class on a rainy Tuesday morning. Skimming through it, I can see why it reminds you of it. Not sure I'd really enjoy it. I can see why you may have chosen the word "forced" to watch it. In that realm, Yu Ming is Ainm Dom is a great one. For those of you that don't speak Irish the translation is: Yu Ming Is My Name. About a Chinese guy that comes to Ireland and gets a surprise.
