ZakkMFNWylde
Anyone have a problem running this in DX12? Game won't even launch when I set it to DX12. I have WIN10 updated, 2080ti drivers updated. Game runs in vulkan but not great and I can't use a reshade. Any ideas? Thanks.
Zeaphite
I'm having the same problem too. Can you switch from DX12 to Vulkan outside the in-game settings, like from the file? When I deleted my profile (essentially deleting all my progress), I was able to log in, but when I went into the settings, changed to DX12, I can't get past the launcher now. DestroBurst
That is exactly what I did..i have been searching for a way to switch back to Vulkan outside the game for a whole day...can't figure it out...
1FromHell
I also have problems with Direct X 12. I was only able to launch it by setting the exe file to Run As Administrator. However I can't use the Dead Eye feature at all. The second I activate Dead Eye, my entire computer crashes really severe. It completely freezes up and makes a buzzing sound with the frozen game play on screen. I have to manually push in the power button of my PC in order to shut it off. I submitted a tech support request to Rockstar yesterday.
DestroBurst
Go to my documents folder and open Rockstar games folder. Delete the Red Dead redemption 2 folder. I saved my save data on the desktop before doing this..but it worked! 1FromHell

DestroBurst
No there is no .ini file in that folder. The game works ever since i deleted the folder and i put my old saves back in..but still getting random crashes between 30min to an hour of playing..but at least I can play for now until they figure it out 1FromHell

Zeaphite
Ok, I found the file (not sure if its a .ini file) to change it back to vulkan outside the game. Open up rockstar games > red dead redemption 2 > settings > and open system.xml with an editor, like Notepad++. Then find this line: <API>kSettingAPI_DX12</API>. Just switch "DX12" to "Vulkan," save the file and the game should launch. DestroBurst
