So yesterday, I was camping to wait for (skip to...) daylight to fish that legendary fish next to the falls up north, and just after the camp setup animation started, it was followed by another one with gang members (the same you find around Elysium Pool) that came and said that I shouldn't be here, that I was warned... but that was it. No attack.

Interesting.

Anyway, I antagonized them (never too sure about your honor!) then shot them.

I did some kind of farming with the legendaries, and I have 60/70% of them now. And I am kind of sick of it too! Especially since you can't carry a big fish and a large animal (and that most of them are large).

I need to do some mission to have some content (or take a break).

In heavy woods, I have some frame drop, and that didn't help.

Van Horn is nice. Foggy, with this tiny saloon (with this stranger mission too), makes definitely an impression.

Annesburg and its active cougar next to the tracks is interesting, but it seems that the train animation is almost always the same (loading wagons).

I tend to galop fast max on the roads, and my horse makes the sound of a pig! That's annoying.

However, it seems they dropped the speed difference of path/not-path, which makes you go about as fast anywhere.

And these rocks, I wish they made the horse handling a little bit softer if a small rock you can just jump over is on your path.

Big Valley feels so much like Glacier NP.

That Yellowstone NP area up North is also very nicely made, albeit a little bit too small to my taste.

Buy Hair Tonics from the general store.

One speeds it up by x2, two by x4 and three by x8

Arthur atm is one of my favourite Rockstar characters if not my favourite. He's very human and accepting, at least in the high honour playthrough I'm doing, his journal is awesome too to reveal more about what he really thinks. He really doesn't deserve to be embroiled in some of Dutch's/Bill's/Uncle's/Micah's f*ckery tbh.

Hero Of Gallowmere

So I uh just beat the game for the first time.

Watching the credits right now.

Been a while since a game sucked me in this hard.

Feels kinda surreal that it's over now.

So I moved on in chapter 3 and completed it this evening.

It goes so quick with these 5/6 missions at the end of it that keep following each other, it really got me hooked up.

I kind of wanted to save, but I was not really sure where it would put me at the next load.

That said, going through these missions, I realised there were places that changed, so I might visit them again from an old save another time.

i also found that here were missions that could have been put in between to give more depth to what's going on around in that chapter.

I checked online, and I've done all the missions of that chapter. I was worried, since I can see I didn't do one from chapter 2, that this would happen again. But no.

I kind of regret visiting some places of the map like st Denis, even though I was brought there by a stranger event.

Because the intro to it is reall impressive, and mine was good, but not that impressive.

Since i spoiled myself, and since I know the rough plot towards the end, I'm wondering what to do next. Going back hunting or continue playing missions.

This is not a game to rush at all, it's a game to take your time, many many hours collecting stuff, hunting, doing activities, side missions, even just talking to people to get a chance to unlock something along with doing missions. I'm almost finishing Chapter 3, and I've visited many of the towns around the world including Saint Denis and doing side missions in there, so... The game kinda attracts you to it even before the introduction mission anyway.

Almost got ass kicked near Annesburg by some Murfree Brood, didn't expect them to have a trap for me whilst chasing them. Fell into a hole in the ground I did. Meanwhile, found the Gavin guy roaming about that area too... Also, I LOVE the detail of the train tracks and such getting built dynamically as time passes, because it doesn't just happen with missions. There was a period I made no missions and the train track construction had moved a few metres down. This game has ridiculous detail and it's the most impressive I've seen.

I've finished crafting the Legendary Satchel and boy what a grind! But it was worth it in the end. I can carry 99 of anything. It's like Hermione's bag in Harry Potter. :D

Now to do some challenges and then I will proceed doing side missions and missions in Chapter 3.

Right, but I won't spend hundreds of hours on it. I'm around 45/50 hours, and I will go up to 100 something, and then I will either be done with it or leave it (roaming in the bayou and plantations made me open a guide about Louisiana instead of playing further :D).

I guess I will shelve it for a couple of weeks and pick it up again, time for me to forget a bit about the world, so it feels new-ish again.

I had a few things up north, but didn't do much in St Denis except posting and that doctor mission.

I wandered briefly again in St Denis at the beginning of chapter 4, and it felt nice.

I like roaming but I felt I did too much recently, and I got sick of it.

I got that dude yelling for Gavin. Walked around the man looking for him for a while, thinking he would speak to me, but nothing happened. I guessed I would find him later, but didn't go to look for him.

That said, the Bayou/St Denis area is nice, and I believe missions will be more focused on this area now.

I didn't quite like the area of chapter 3 (or rather felt it was too undeveloped story wise), but I liked chapter 2 (even if I wished it did more story-wise as well).

Have been doing a ton of side sh*t, from a crazy artist to finding out the truth about Jim Boy Calloway, to a photographer who almost got eaten by wolves and then wanted to photograph alligators, to abandoned cabins near Van Horn and other events, and all I have to say is thank God I made a save right before a certain event in Saint Denis... Will definitely go back to that after I experience the rest of the game.

Also, Chapter 5's intro has an interesting Photo Mode glitch... Free camera in a cutscene.

I have come across a very strange and moralistic stranger mission called as "The Iniquities of History". It comes down to the Moral choice of the player and how he sees the entire thing. It was so powerful and interesting. Do not miss it.

Done it, it's very, very good. RDR2 deals with sensitive issues of the time very very well. There's some more situations related to other things from the time that are very well done.

So, that Chapter 6... Even if I knew, it still hits you like a train and everything that changes in it and is new in it. Not doing many missions in this one, taking the time I can to look at everything I still can, and seeing how some old events are reflecting the changes. I love how the world around Arthur changes as well, acknowledging the situation.

Gotta say, the stinger was done very well - just on my merry way to go to the Sadie mission, until...

Makes me glad I am still in Chapter 3 and a long way to go. I am going for 100 percent completion so I am taking my time doing all the challenges. I have completed Gambler and Exploration as of now.

Also visiting the camp from time to time. Everyone is so happy and it is still like a family. I just don't want to proceed since I know what happens. I have to prepare myself for the inevitable I guess.

Spoiler

:(

He's not so accepting if you want him to. In Saint Denis you can steal 25 cents off some poor blind beggar and he says that everyone is out to fend for themselves. That's probably the most assolish thing you can do in the game. The roleplaying aspect is pretty good for non roleplaying game.

In my evil playthrough it was off putting that Arthur got so mad about some old slave catcher, while you could do bad stuff I mentioned with no issues.

You can play Arthur as a dishonorable outlaw (dishonorable in the sense that he is a cold blooded murderer and robs from people who need it--like Micha, instead of "honorable" like someone like maybe Hosea who doesn't kill in cold blood, and only steals from folk who have more than enough), but that doesn't make him a racist. Especially with the fact that Tilly and Lenny are part of the gang, that aspect is written into his character.

"Evil" is the wrong way to describe Arthur if you're playing a low honor game. That fact that the "karma scale" is called Honor means more than simply calling it "good/evil" or "positive karma/negative karma" like in other games. It gives you enough leeway to play him differently and not clash what's written for his character too much, but not too much that you end up completely changing his character.

Well sh*t. I knew how it ended. And it still hit me like a train. Can I just fast forward to RDR1 so I can kill Dutch? Rockstar has a HUGE calibre to do serious feelsy games. The story was unparalleled to any other R* game.

Spoiler

Arthur is my favourite Rockstar character, he was such a good person, so well made. The last few missions finding out about everything and having people like Sadie and John constantly on your side, having Abigail and Jack flee with Sadie, etc. Man... Oh man.

The epilogue with John isn't less feelsy either, him keeping Arthur's journal and some of his stuff like the collections etc, and writing on the journal continuing his journey.

I'm still only 2 missions in on Epilogue Part One so...

part one of epilogue is... boring. I know why it exists as a narrative, but it isn't fun to play at all

part two is a bit better

about arthur's sickness, the mission where he beats mr downes is way too early imo, they could made it right before guarma

Yeah, but how they played Arthur's sickness out was something that struck me on my second play through. I started to notice up to the point of when you rob that homestead with Javier, R* are second to none when it comes to minuet details!

Edit: Seen a lot of people triggering that mission before Downes...oof

Oh also, say what you say about how funny Uncle, Bill and the like may be, but Sadie won favourite gang character for me (other than Arthur of course). Now that is true loyalty.

Also, I think it's a beautiful detail how the first song you hear in the Epilogue is the same song (albeit modified) that they used to reveal the game. Interestingly the reveal trailer had a bunch of Chapter 6 stuff too.
