Koltos
Hi all. Play on high-ultra settings. Some problem i faced. In the night with a lantern or by different sources of light you may see strange shadows flickering sometimes. It is not always, but in first person mode or in some places I can notice that. Somebody has this problem? How to remove shadow flickering. And in prologue sometimes i saw trees flickering in strange ways for about 1-2 seconds. Somebody notice that too? It is rare happening but looking strange. Like game engine is doing smth strange with all settings. P.S. And i'm interested why shadows on high settings are not sharp enough on the snow? On consoles shadows were sharp that's for sure. Just curious. Edited November 6, 2019 by Koltos

Vipertechs
I’ve tried tinkering with the options, honestly nothing fixed the issue, I don’t think we can do anything about it but it’s insanely annoying

HowCanWeExist
Hey guys if you are still here, I have a solution. I was experiencing flicking too, with DirectX 12. So, I changed to Vulcan. However, the stuttering is almost completely non existent due to a simple thing : Turn down your mouse sensitivity IN GAME, to the absolute lowest possible. Then, turn your mouse sensitivity up on your actual mouse (or maybe in the windows settings if you don't have a gaming mouse). This worked perfectly for The Witcher 3 also! I was experiencing micro stuttering in The Witcher 3, but that simple mouse trick completely fixed it!! Please let me know if that works for you guys. DanielNS84
Notice for anyone still seeing this, I found a fix: I had the same issue in Minecraft with OptiFine and thought maybe it had the same fix and it did! It turned out to be Anti-Aliasing, but only certain types. On my 2080 ti it was TAA (I had it set to medium with twitching trees) and it was FAA on my daughter's 2060. On my PC I switched it from medium to off and it went away but the jagged edges were insane at 2K144 so I played with other settings and FAA/MSAA failed to fix the jagged edges, I ended up turning the setting UP to high and it fixed the jagged edges AND the trees stopped twitching...weird! Also, I have the sharpness filter maxed out in the Alt-Z overlay menu as I can't play without this anymore (It's such a huge difference, bigger than supersampling to 4K/8K and doesn't seem to have any negative performance impacts) and even with this on I don't notice any jagged edges anymore. I know this will drop performance on some machines amping up the TAA but I couldn't find an alternative without completely killing the looks and immersion of the game so dropping other settings might be your best bet. I used the basic and advanced settings guides from Hardware Unboxed and got like 40% improved framerate without any negative appearance issues noticeable. Linking those videos below... Note: If you TL:DR'ed this, change your TAA settings either on, off, up, or down to fix this. Can't remember which one since I'm not in front of my PC right now but it may be the one you mentioned. Edited March 23, 2020 by StyxTx
