No way there is something off in your rig.  You cant have that bad performance. You sure you are running your ram in dual channel?   Lower water physics its killing performance for everybody thats your main culprit

All max settings is the problem.... some of those advanced options are rig-killers, even at 1080

Imo that's a perfectly fine performance for those settings (all max). (8x MSAA is taxing as f*ck. i would never go higher than 4x

Also, Triple Buffering will probably only work in DX11.

Your settings are f*cking you hard.  Kill water physics to medium. Msaa lower ir to 4 or less. Motion blur off.  Shadows lower it. Specially grass Shadows etc raymatch lightning off is a must

I'm using dx 12 and a 2080 super everything is maxed and getting over 60 fps at 1080p. That wont stay that way when my 4k tv comes in.

And your frames won't stay that way either lol, not even a 2080ti can play this game at 4k medium.

i tried out some settings, i ended up with TAA because MSAA kills performance, and i mostly set it all to medium or some stuff even low, and im using DX12 the weird thing is my gpu usage is maybe 25-30% and cpu usage is mostly in the 70-80%, kinda weird. But the game runs pretty well i got my 60 FPS at medium ish settings in 1080p.

Vulkan (windowed borderless):

* min: 0.17 fps

* avg: 44.10 fps

Vulkan (fullscreen):

* min: 0.17 fps

* avg: 41.28 fps

DX12 (windowed borderless):

* min: 8.02 fps

* avg: 41.19 fps

DX12 (fullscreen):

* min: 9.87 fps

* avg: 38.9 1fps

I have some interesting observations. Windowed borderless mode is better about 3 fps than fullscreen mode. Vulkan has a lot freezes, but in average has more fps. DX12 is more stable, but has less fps than Vulkan. I'm playing the game with Vulkan and windowed borderless mode. Freezes seem to be getting smaller and appearing less frequently. Killer options are: MSAA and water physics.

My rig:

i5 2500K

GTX 1060 6GB

16GB RAM

The game is installed on SSD

RDR2-Bench1-Ultra-High-TAA.jpg

This was using everything as Ultra as possible & using High TAA using Vulcan API. Of note, not using TAA is much more taxing and degrades performance & using MSAA is more taxing than TAA. This was just a test though and don't plan on playing the game with everything on Ultra. I will be using some on Ultra & some on High and using TAA on Medium which for my rig is a nice balance of visuals and FPS. Of note, shadows looks awesome on Ultra compared to high.

MY PC SPECS:

CPU - i9 9900K

GPU - 1080TI  (Gigabyte Aorus)

RAM - 32GB DDR4 (3200Mhz)

MOBO - Z390 (Gigabyte Aorus Master)

PSU - EVGA Supernova G3 (1000W)

M.2 NVMe Drive - Samsung 970 Evo (1TB)  -  RDR2 on this

Sound - Creative SB AE-9 + Audio Technica MSR7b Headphones
SSD x3 - Samsung Evo 840 / 850 / 860  (Total - 2TB)

Controller - Razer Wolverine Tournament Edition

Mic - Blue Yeti Nano

Monitor - Acer Predator 27" 1440p 165Hz G-Sync

OS - Windows 10  /  Nvidia Driver - 441.12

i got 24 to 40 fps with vukan and Drx12 all in ultra and 1080p (without MSAA, FXAA and reflection msaa) Running on a GTX 1070 Ti + i7 8700k + 16GB of Ram... WTF

Even in medium-low i have horrible fps... Something is wrong, if not, im gonna kill myself.. so dissapointed :(

Yea true but it wont keep me from trying here in about the next 5 days or so. 4k and everything maxed even if just for a laugh. I'm sure everything will be smooth as butter at 15 fps lol.

I get better performance on Vulkan with my GTX 2060 than DX12.

The advanced/ultra settings are future proofing for newer cards. It isn't a bad port, it's people not thinking.

For me it was the water physics setting. That rly kills the performance. Other than that if you are ok with 40fps or sth. high and ultra are no prob. 4k and 60fps is another matter but you cant expect that even though the 2080 Ti is that expensive it should work ^^

Game looks great performance is at least ok I am satisfied. Time to enjoy the biatch :)

yeah right....save that speach for those that never tried it on console.

i have the xbox and it runs like dog sh*t compared to the RTX2080 on my PC, the xbox x runs 4K at 30fps, yes.... but like crap

the only playable version on console is the X/Pro version for 1080p
