Snaggle
Optimization feels very bad atm. i9 with a RTX 2080ti, runs most games maxed out. With RD2 it's struggling with everything on medium, max fps 60. Feels clunky, needs work. Hanzema
ViperDG
Not necessarily bad optimization. Could be they have just made the game require more performance than current PCs can provide. They could make a game that would bring PCs to a complete halt if they wanted to. ITs about designing games for the current state of the PC industry. This game might be a little to much futureized. The Janitor
Some advice if you're unhappy with performance: 1. There's a lot of settings, I would recommend testing most of them first. For example the water physics setting seems to be a big performance killer. Set it to 50% or lower. Don't use MSAA. 2. Wait for patches and drivers. Mored
Mine runs quite well, I'll post the benchmark results and my graphics settings after I get home from work, if i could take a guess it's around 40-60 fps with mostly high settings/1080p. Seems like many of you are getting the same fps as that even though you have beastly rigs. I hope R* atleast know they gotta get down and start fixing these problems that people are running into. BS_BlackScout
38FPS on a 1050 Ti. I don't know... Perhaps it could run a little better?? I could only achieve 60FPS at half the resolution (960x540). Kinda sad On the other hand, the settings don't seem to affect performance all that much, except for a few options. oCrapaCreeper
Best advice I can give to people for frames is to stay away from all the ultra settings, period. No card is going to be able to max this game easily out for a while. Edited November 5, 2019 by oCrapaCreeper Donmega
UltimateAntic
GTX 980 here with i7 6700 non K. I'm running mostly on medium with a couple set to high. Textures is set to ultra tho. On 1080p framerate is mostly between 40-55 fps. I was hoping for better peformance but oh wel... game still looks great.
pariah87
I'm running an i7-6700 1080gtx, still messing around with settings. Even with all the settings on low the game is very pretty. UncleTacitus
Flightwhite24
Running i7-8700K RTX 2080 and the game on HDR for me looks washed out and dark. Being new to the gaming scene I don’t want to mess with too much as I don’t want to make things worse. Things pop once I turn HDR off. My monitor is a LG 27GL850 so if anyone has any advice/tips please send them my way. Thanks
Slappy212
It's really bad. I get that the visuals are trying to be high end. but I'm not exaggerating when I say most games I have run far better than this, and still maintain 60 FPS: AC: Odyssey, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Doom reboot, Witcher 3. The only way to get RDR2 running even close to those titles is to reduce it to an Xbox 360 level visuals. It looks worse than RDR1. The game simply is not optimized. Like, not at all. Edit: look, I'm grateful for the port, don't regret buying it...but it's a bad port. I am running it on an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 which is a NON- Ti card and it runs fine on all high settings. Ti should be able to do it fine. Jimbatron
Haven’t played my ordered PC copy yet but this talk is slightly worrying given I’ve only got a GTX 970. Curious to know what settings on the PC would most resemble the XBox One X. OK it’s not going about 30FPS but it looks great in 4K. gregorius11
By the way, can somebody comment on how the game performs in Valentine if you compare it to the snowy prologue? Is it worse, better or just as stable?
Koltos
My specs: i5-4670, rtx 2060 super, 16 ram I spent about 3-4 hours to change and compare settings. So I stayed on 2K resolution and some settings in high and ultra, but water on medium. Also i don't understand what reflections do (can;t see difference); So with these high-ultra-medium settings I getting aroun 45-60 fps. I made my gz to 50p and make fps on 50 in settings. Less frame jumping. But what i wanna understand... How to remove instant shutter during the game!!!! Sometimes picture just freeze and then game continues. I'm running an RTX 2070 (non-super) and a I7 9700k with most settings on high and the textures preset on ultra with maybe a couple of medium settings thrown in. At 4K with HDR I'm getting a stable (so far) 30fps. I suspect that the equivalent to XBOX One X would be very similar with a few of the high settings changed down to medium and the texture setting down from ultra to high or medium. dieseltech20 and Jimbatron
Mcspanky37
I've got the game mostly maxed on a 1080ti at native 4k. It runs smoother than consoles for me, averaging 35-55 fps. I have textures, lighting, global illumination and trees at Ultra, a few other settings at high. The rest was at medium and have view distance sliders on the low side. The game seems to run better after the intro which has generous amounts of memory taxing fog effects. My only issue is HDR doesn't seem to be working.
