Before anyone panics be aware Nvidia will be advertising their RTX cards! Remember the actual recommended specs!

nvidia settings are usually bs...just lower shadows in game and gives you a sh*tload of fps with minimal to 0 graphical impact in game.

Also, yes, I think the console versions run at medium settings and they still look amazing, so I wouldn't be too worried. Seems to me R* pushed RDR2's visuals to the absolute max at very high settings which means those won't be easy to run. Seems like a GPU-bound game which is not a sign of bad optimisation at all.

 

I mean, the consoles run it just fine with good visuals...

Of course they just advertise their last generation of videocards. I think 1060 6 GB can handle 1080p 60 fps on high-medium.

Was my first thought as well. Non-RTX cards are suspiciously absent from that brief recommendation lineup by NVIDIA, which makes sense but... it's not the whole story. :p

my assumption is it's just bad wording, like how Normal is the lowest in GTA V, either nvidia meant absolute max by high to make the image look less cluttered or R* just names the absolute max "High"

well, considering performance of past rockstar titles on their 'recommended' settings, I say I trust nvidia
