Ok the IGN guy played it on console and is not sure how much time he will invest in playing the pc version. Very informative preview, thank you :D

Lets look at the others

"Naturally, the game switches off the pad's auto aim when you start playing with a mouse, and you can switch freely between mouse and pad if you prefer riding a horse with a controller."

"The controls are customisable too, as you'd expect. You can alter FOV settings to your taste and rebind keys. The radial item selection menus will take some getting used to, and for the sake of my fingers I'd rebind the slow-mo 'dead eye' trigger from middle mouse button to a side button."

"I asked and they confirmed! Red Dead Redemption 2 will be open to modding, just like GTA 5. Will the modders turn up the graphics even more? Surely! What will they add to the world of RDR 2? I try not to think about it. Mods will be available only in single-player mode. Red Dead Online will be left intact so as not to complicate the already difficult situation with cheaters or griefers. The devs also announced that they will increase the measures and methods to make life difficult for potential fraudsters in online mode."

"In other words, if you already own Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 or Xbox One, you won’t be missing much if you decide not to double-dip on PC. (Unfortunately, you will indeed be missing it: Asked if Rockstar is planning to bring the PC port’s bonus content to the console versions, a spokesperson said the company has nothing to announce at this time.)"

"As for Red Dead Redemption 2’s online component, Red Dead Online, it will go live on PC at launch. It won’t offer any cross-platform play, and everyone will have to start fresh — unlike with Grand Theft Auto 5’s Grand Theft Auto Online, there won’t be an option to transfer existing characters from the PS4 or Xbox One versions."

Some bits of information a fair few people have been wanting answers for.

Performance is the big unexplored issue. Rockstar says the game is highly scaleable. We look forward to testing it on a few different rigs.

No actual info on performance from the PC Gamer article? That's sad.

They added a real, full on photo mode? No f*cking way. I'm never finishing this game. I'll spend at least 1500 hours looking through a fake camera lense.

This is gonna be Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War all over again.

PC Gamer literally said that mouse and keyboard controls make it special.

Dead Eye is enable by clicking the middle mouse button.

Some surface-level info about performance. It's reassuring, but I would've preferred genuine tests. Still, great to hear!

Quote

“From the beginning, we knew we wanted to give as many users as possible access to the graphical and technical enhancements and the faster frame rates,” explains Hadjadj. “So we took a practical approach – we optimized the performance for a wide range of PC configurations and added the ability for users to tune the game experience to make the most of their setup according to their preferences.”

EDIT: Dunno how to fix the text. Sorry if it's too dark.

Really incredible draw distance apparently

Quote

Draw distances have been extended considerably, to the point where from a ridge overlooking Emerald Ranch, you can look south and see well into the Scarlett Meadows. Weather permitting, that is - though, even if it’s not, that’ll likely still be damn gorgeous to look at given the updates the development team has made to the world’s lighting systems.

Well that dead eye stuff is not important thats more important for fast kills on the consoles. Its a gimmick. Gamestar says fighting and riding the horse is better with the controller and trying to get the right spot for pressing E to interact seems clumsy.

Other say the controls are precise and good.

Ok I am not too worried :) And we certainly wont know anything about the performance....with their typical high end best of the best test pc setups....

No one talked about the duels or the intentional input lag?

The PC Gamer guy tested it with a GTX 970.
He said he didn't have a high end CPU either, and didn't play at the highest settings possible but the game still looked incredible.

"Let's talk about the technical stuff. The build ran at a solid 60 frames at 4K resolution on a mix of high and medium graphics settings. "

Wait, did he play on that 2080 Ti pc? I hope not....with medium high details😨

From the German article it states that there's a 120fps if that is the case then that's sad. 120fps is smooth as hell but why doesn't it have 144hz support?

A proper photo mode is well nice for SP, hopefully that becomes a standard feature in all their games now they have it up and running. The Editor is still needed for RDO though, hopefully that will come and I expect it will. They're always retweeting and using pics from the GTAO Snapmatic community.

Been scouring all the previews I've found looking for any information at all on character transfers and while RDO is officially confirmed to be live day 1, I've yet to see even a mention of character transfers.

With a 2080 Ti I wouldve expected 60, well maybe 50 to 60, at 4k with max details. But ok GTA5 was also very hardware hungry
