Low Beam Headlight Bug?

Lately my low beam headlights have looked like this.

EIQayGTXkAAtw5u?format=jpg&name=large

You can see how the right side headlight looks normal, shining straight ahead and even illuminating the building.    However the right light shies only a short distance then just cuts off.     The right from the right side is clearly shining much further ahead then the light on the left.     This become very noticable once you are in motion, but you can still see it here.

I have no idea if this happens on high beam, they seem to be to bright to tell either way.    But on low beam it's quite noticeable.

Is anybody else having this?

Yellow Dog with Cone

Not a glitch, but a feature, and a realistic one at that:

Due to the different traffic side, the beam pattern of the headlights are different between the RHD (Right Hand Drive) and LHD (Left Hand Drive) countries.

Look at the picture listed below:

The vehicle is running on the right side of the road, the right side of the beam pattern is higher then the driver could look further on the right side, so as to see the road signs and the peoples or other things those who may affect the driving safety on the right side of the road.

The left side of the beam pattern is lower, so the headlights shine much shorter than the right side to prevent the headlights from shining onto the oncoming drivers to minimize the glare.

Oddly enough the Franken Stange didn't seem to have this with both lights shining equally.    Is only certain cars designed with this in mind?     And when was this introduced?    Because I could swear GTA always just had both sides shine equally.    So is this feature new?

"YELLOW DOG WITH CONE" is correct, this is how real life lights are set up too (or should be anyway) at the same time you're not wrong either, this was a fairly recent change that happend around the release of either Doomsday or Arena War stuff (im mostly thinking Doomsday, but since Arena War introduced colored headlights it might've been in that dlc?) This change happened at the same time that they updated road signs to have reflective text (if you have half decent graphics settings you might have noticed this change aswell, if you are driving around at night pay attention to the green roadsigns with text, if light hits them the text glows white/light-green, like in real life)

About the Franken Stange, i think they just forgot to update that as its a pretty obscure car, pretty sure theres a bunch of 'harder to get vehicles' with headlights that are at the same angle besides that one.

Didn't say he was wrong, I just noticed that something in the game looked different.   A lot of the time at night I drive around with headlights off, night in GTA isn't very dark so you don't really need them.    Heck sometimes I'd argue you have better night vision with lights off then on.    There are definitely games out there where lights help you, but I never found GTAV was one of them.    So I never really took notice of this change.     When I finally did spot it my first thought was "Wait that looks different, is there a headlights bug or something?"

Still neat little change though.    I never cared enough to look at road signs, so I'll have to keep a eye out for that.

Didnt mean to imply you thought he was wrong either, was just underlining his statement as being the correct answer, so that i could then expand upon that.

Anyway yeah R* keeps doing these kinds of small changes and then mostly not mentioning it, its part of the reason why some think we're not getting a new GTA in a while ("look they're adding new stuff so no need for new game") while others look at the same changes and think we get a new GTA soon ("look they are backporting features") Another somewhat recent feature that springs to mind is 'Rappel' from helicopters, while not new to the game (it was used in some SP missions) it was added to a bunch of GTA:O helicopters with pretty much no attention given to it. (to try it hop in the back of any heli that has a cable spool over the side door, then have the pilot hold the heli steady near the ground, passenger below the cable spool with get option to rappel down)

Another thing that recently made its way to GTA:O (but has been in SP) is engine stalls, not the kind from when a car is a crumpled up ball of metal and the engine just keeps crapping out (thats been there since forever) but the kind you can get from impacts (hard head on collision and suddenly your car has no power and just sits there/rolls for a few seconds before taking off again)

Cool.    Funny how they add little things here and there, I should really pay more attention.

Some older cars have different light patterns and even intensity due to simpler technology and lax safety regulations.

Something I have been noticing with this change though, I kinda feel like Rockstar needs to adjust the headlights.     While stationary the driver side shine don't seem to bad, is it just me or when you go down the highway at high speed does the driver side headlight not seem to shine more then like a inch in front of the car if it even lights up the road ahead at all?

I'm not arguing that the driver side headlight shouldn't shine lower then the passenger side headlight.    You've all given lots of proof this is the case.    But in making this change, I do wonder if Rockstar set the driver side headlight TO LOW?

What do you guys think?
