MrBreak16
Do you think that The Playstation 5 and Xbox Scarlet have a powerful enough hardware to support a USA map for Gta 6 ? Gentlebreeze, WindowsExPee and XXVIII
Lotte
I mean probably, why not, but i also don't think that would be very fun
DOUGL4S1
If they could? Yeah, probably. The Crew has an USA map, but it isn't that detailed (Well, you're meant to drive by those environments at 200+km/h), with the extra power from next-gen, a more detailed scaled down USA map, maybe slightly larger than TC's should be possible. If they should? Nah, I'd rather have a map focused in a single area of the country, makes local cultural references much more meaningful. Also, development would probably take a decade, and the game would be huge in file sizes with the map alone, not counting missions, vehicles, characters, etc. Edited October 31, 2019 by DOUGL4S1 Ivan1997GTA, Zello, tsycho and 1 other
GTAhare
Early on GTA 4 was supposed to expand on San Andreas and have an entire state, yet it was scrapped. Although we know nothing about the original map idea it appears it probably would’ve been 3+ cities, small towns, and a countryside. It probably would’ve dwarfed GTA 5 in terms of size. It likely never got past the conceptual stage, although I’d love to eventually see some concept drawings (if there are any). The problem was it would’ve been too ambitious and would be filled with copying and pasting and static instead of a living and breathing world. I’m guessing that the reason in the conceptual stages why Rockstar wanted to have 3+ cities is because before they saw what the (at the time) new hardware was capable of they assumed they could just get bigger and bigger but when they saw that the new consoles could make environments that feel far more “real” than in the PS2 era they decide to create a word they focuses on being living and breathing rather than size. Perhaps taking full advantage of what the new hardware offered took a lot of effort so they decided to focus on creating one city that feels real rather than a state. Yes, GTA 5’s map has it’s flaws but it still follows quality over quantity in its design. I think things like technical limitations, management corruption, etc. hurt it but it still followed quality over quantity like GTA 4. Maps that are big simply for the sake of it aren’t Rockstar’s style. I think they could maybe add a lower quality expansion of the map for Online in GTA 6 but even still that’d be odd for them. Red Dead Redemption 2 in terms of raw technical size has a smaller map than GTA 5, yet no one is complaining-I constantly see people reference RDR2 as fixes for some of the design flaws in GTA 5’s map. When people say they want a big map, they really want something that’s expansive and has a lot of variety and things to do. Ever been to Disneyland? It’s tiny, yet it feels huge. I guarantee that soon after RDR2 comes to PC people will make mods that will make horses as fast as cars in GTA and every one will be shocked at how small the map really is. But again, a small map doesn’t matter if it’s a work of art. But Rockstar could absolutely make a condensed version of America if they wanted. .Sharingan and Pete4000uk
DexMacLeod
I don't think so. I think they'll be able to support an incredibly condensed and bland USA map for The Crew 3 though. Even if they could do all of America justice I can't imagine they would. They're all about the story and what GTA style story could possibly require and make use of 50 different states? Beato_dim
It would have to be far less detailed than the maps we have now, so I'd say no.
GTA3Rockstar
Nah, they would have to do the same tech as Flight Sim 2020 and then some. It's a whole world render of about 2 Petabytes of data, which is 2,000,000 GB. It's all on M$ servers which streams to your pc/console as you fly, pretty cool. Eternal Moonshine
probably yeah, but we would have to wait 20 years for GTA
Zello
Nope. They like to hand craft their worlds and do everything from scratch. This would be impossible. Also the story would make no sense at all
Jakub1904
They could probably make it, but it wouldn't be as detailed as their previous maps. I hope we get two or three cities max, something like San Andreas, I still think that's the best GTA map ever.

MrBreak16
I was thinking about an idea, what if Rockstar makes regions, for example : The East Coast : Liberty City, Aldernay, Carcer City, Capital City The West Coast : San Andreas (Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas Northern US : North Yankton, Chicago, maybe Detroit Southern US : New Orlean, Florida (Vice City) You would not be able to leave a region on foot or car, but will be able by using the airport, just like Gta San Andreas, and it would make the airport serve a purpose. Like that rockstar could make smaller maps and load a specific one when the player want to go there, I know it would kind of sucks because you couldn’t drive around the country, but a least you can drive between multiple cities in the same region. I dont know if they can make that for the ps5. And if they can. It would not be that big for the release. Eric Cartman
Well obviously not a 1:1 scale US map (LOL), but yes, if the rumors about PS5 and Scarlet hardware are true, they can do a very big map with lots of cities and countrysides,I would expect AT LEAST a map five times bigger than GTA V's. Pink Pineapple
They didn't even fully utilize GTA V's map. They need to focus more on things to do instead of just making a huge map. Thomas Cavendish, DOUGL4S1, Zello and 1 other

That would be pretty ideal if it were feasible from a development standpoint. I'd probably split it up into smaller chunks though. The East Coast alone could be broken up into three separate regions and then there's Texas and the entire Pacific Northwest. I just don't know if it's possible to make anything at that scale at Rockstar's standards in any reasonable amount of time. Obviously they couldn't put every region in the game at launch but I imagine that every region would have the same care and detail that all Rockstar games have. That means every region would take years to produce and we wouldn't get more than one or two expansions per generation console. They'd never get through the whole country before it was time for a new game/engine.

MrBreak16
Well I got to say that I saw two things that a lot of Gta players want for Gta 6 1. A comeback to Vice City 2. A multiple city map (gta san andreas style) It is very likely that Rockstar will set Gta 6 in Vice City A map with multiple cities is also possible, as long as the map is not too big, have you played or heard about Just Cause, it’s basically a Gta type game with a 400 square miles map (1024 square km) and Just Cause 3 have a pretty detailed map. Hell, all trees on the map can be destroyed because almost everything is base on physics. I also check and Just Cause 3 have about the same amount of stockage the Gta V Gta V (2013) : 50 Go Just Cause 3 (2015) : 45 Go armani200sx
