Your Favorite and Least Favorite Purchases on GTA Online

Recommended Posts

kcole4001

Favorites based on utility and actual use:

Buzzard:     ya gotta have one!

Armored Kuruma: pretty versatile, decent speed and handling

Akula: loved it from the first minute aloft, lots of fun

Up N Atomizer:  hands down the best addition to the game, for fun and utility. More laughs per minute than anything else, and saved my bacon on missions countless times.

Op MkII: hate to admit it, but the speed and small size are ideal for a lot of grinding. I've never griefed, with this or anything else. I thought it was utterly stupid at first, but pretty much had to buy it once I saw how fast it was. Never do crates without one!

Least favorite:

Facility: only bought it because I like tanks and had to have somewhere to store my tank   (duh). Also had to store the Thruster there. Also, if you leave your OpMkII in it, it becomes "unavailable" from any menu and you have to physically go back, fly it out, and store it somewhere else to have easy remote access  (totally f*ckin stupid concept).

MOC: total waste of money

Hotring Sabre:  a racecar that's slower than a street vehicle?!?!?!??!    🤨

MC businesses: now only owned to feed the nightclub. The sell missions are stupid, stupid, stooopid! Payouts are terrible, and instant raids....really? FFS!!!   :miranda:

Casino gambling:  New! Fresh! Now totally broken and unrealistic!   .....no thanks, R*.....

Favorites.

- Buzzard: Instantly spawns beside you via CEO, it was awesome for crate work.

- Oppressor MKII: Basically replaced Buzzard as the best grinding tool.

- Nightclub: Produces free money with easy sell missions, what's not to like?

- Bunker: Even playing solo and doing 1 supply bar missions, it's still 135k profit off a 1 vehicle mission every couple hours.    So not bad.

- Sea Sparrow: I love this helicopter, it's like a faster Buzzard with better missiles that has the ability to land on water.

- Hotring Sabre: Most of my time racing these days is in Hotring races, so this car was a must.

- Phantom MOC: Fast, can ram anything out it's way, withstand 60 odd missiles and looks badass.    Detach the giant trailer, and this is beastly.

- Ramp Buggy: Because it's fun sending NPC's and players flying, until some butthurt noob in a MKII blows you up anyway.

Least Favorites.

MC Businesses: Only run them on 2X, missions are crap and even trying to run small sales you still usually get 2 vehicles.

Rhino, NPC & Khanjali: I actually love tanks but they are useless in GTA today.    The Rhino used to be beastly back on PS3 but it's armor was nerfed to hell.    And even the stronger Khanjali still gets blown up in no time.     8 RPG's is fine, but tanks should be buffed against MKII missiles honestly.

Vigilante: I hate how this thing drives.   Steers like a boat, flips over all the time.   Honestly Scamjet is a way more fun rocket car.

I like all my purchases , I´m very careful when it comes to bying vehicles/properties on GTA , so basically I don t regret anything I´ve bought ....

my vehicle collection is the best thing I´ve bought ,especially the cars ...

least favorites ? well some are useless , like the Yacht ( but then , bought it at 75% off so it s not that bad i guess) , anti Aircraft trailer ( I don t remember myself using this one in GTA , it really collects dust right now ) , as well as some weaponised vehicles ( Kanjali , APC , Havoc aircraft ... they are nice to have though)

Favorite

  • Buzzard - Purchased in 2014, easily the greatest investment I ever made in the game
  • Yacht - Allows me a luxury property in Paleto Bay without taking a property slot, as a water guy it also gives me 2 of my favorite in game boats at the ready as well as a heli..
  • Mission Hill Nightclub - I long wanted an apartment in this area, I haven't got that, but what I've got is a spawn property in the same complex I wanted one for years.
  • AP Pistol - Still the best gun for inside a vehicle. Although, there are more comparable options now than way back.
  • Richards Majestic APT 51 - Bought this either 2013 or really early in 2014, it remains the best location on the map due to it's quick access to multiple long range escape routes, various hidden back streets for shaking tails or cops as well as the central location to stores; the garage and front door are one of the best combos in the game due to stackable cover and other things... The view is my favorite from any original apartment.
  • Casino Penthouse - I love casinos, casino history, casino memorabilia although I do not gamble unless it's an empty black jack table. I'm also a slut for interior decorating and I love a great view, this penthouse offers a great view from every room.
  • MC Clubhouse - I actually despise the businesses and jobs that came with the MC Update, but as a guy who owned stupid amounts of bikes when this update dropped, it let me toss them all into a garage that didn't take up property space.
  • Sultan Sedan Upgrades - Only car I've had since 2013 and have never gotten rid of once. Still my daily driver, still my go to mission car, still my go to free roam car. Still the best car in the game for how I do things.
  • Advanced Rifle - I love bullpups, I love the Tavor. I've got all the top rifles in game, but this one is the best for me, it's the only one I use, I've been using it since again way back to 2014, it's my old reliable and it's helped me make a lot of money.
  • Scuba Suit - This is one of my top 5 must have items in the game for those who want to be all around competitive. Ever run Humane Labs as ground team and ran out of rebreathers on the dive? Not an issue here. Easiest way to naturally escape a 5 star wanted level. If public lobbies ever become interesting again, it would be easily applicable to overall survival & evasion. If you're a new player, it's expensive up front, but an overall better investment and cheaper long term than buying regular clothes.
  • Combat PDW - Another top 5 item. The integral suppressor makes this a must own and must equip in your loadout for anybody who likes to play missions and heists, specifically the stealth options. IDK how many times I joined a random Deliver EMP setup and I was the only person who had a suppressed weapon. Enough times to make me stop joining them, despite it being my favorite job & setup. That said, the amount of times I have successfully completed that specific setup practically by myself as the 3 other people waited with the truck in the parking lot.... Great investment.
  • Aircraft Hanger - I don't do the jobs associated with this and I haven't bought any of the aircrafts with this update.... But I did put the Savage in the hanger and now I can call it as a PV in missions.. That last casino job at the ranch? Completed that first segment in about a minute from start to cutscene thanks to this feature, alongside a low ranked random.

Least Favorite

  • Bunker - Waste of time & money
  • MC Businesses - Waste of time & money
  • Facility - Waste of time & money

These are the only purchases I actually regret 110%. I only bought the facility for the achievements. I don't buy and use weaponized vehicles, I actually leave missions when a teammate is using the jet bike from saints row, I don't grind money, I don't care about having a fat bank account in the game, I don't buy things I don't use like super cars or whatever. If something comes out and I want it, I'll go do missions or wait for a bonus week on something I don't find absolutely stupid or wait for a discount. In fact, I actually enjoyed the game more on 360 when everyone wanted to murder everyone else and I had to worry about hackers or modders or whatever. If I could refund these purchases, I would, except maybe the bunker, I hate the bunker and the MOC, but the only upgrade I have to the MOC is the weapons workshop and I actually like that, even though unlike everyone else, I don't use special ammo or thermal vision.. Though it would've been a lot more enjoyable had they turned that into a Benny's type of thing with it's own characters and story and in world building, kinda like the surplus shop in Mafia 2.. instead they went a cheap route hidden behind stupid amounts of money and reused character models.

Yeah, my only nightclub complaints really are walking around the crowded floors and the lighting. I started using the garage entrance, so I avoid the crowds, outside of when I log on as have my spawn set there. The lighting is only really bad for me when trying to make outfits. The hat logos (and I think a few other things) get blacked out from the lighting. I just make outfits at Binco since their changing room is a personal closet. (I have Strawberry which is close to a Binco and also the LSIA for blimp missions.)

This. I only ever go in through the garage. And then go up to the office from the back. Would have been nice if the spawn point was always in the office. Keep the dance floor part a separate area. Kinda like the way the office does it. As in you don’t spawn in the office garage.

I'm like that too when it comes to being careful on what you buy, researching stuff is very useful. I'm glad I haven't bought stuff like the yacht, facility, arena war warehouse and other pointless stuff.

I always think it's funny when people complain about the 10% cut. Nobody would complain if the NC goods were simply worth 10% less.

The nightclub is the only business I still run because it basically is free money.

Yea that's what I like about the night club that you get free money out of it and when accruing goods, you don't have to resupply other businesses to make them accrue, all you need to do is kick back and let it fill up. I wish I could of known more sooner after buying a NC that I didn't need to upgrade the businesses to fill up my nightclub, that would of saved me money, but oh well it is what it is. Atleast I didn't buy the Weed and Forgery businesses yet, everywhere I research for those two businesses, it's a big no no so I'm good with not buying them.

They’re worth it if you have the money to blow though. You get the trinket in the nightclub safe if you do a full sale of them. And also I enjoy seeing the clutter all over my clubhouse of all the different illicit goods. Just something else to have if you have the cash is all. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Favourite:

West Vinewood Nightclub

Maze Bank Tower Office

3655 Wild Oats Drive (I actually upgraded from 0325 South Rockford Drive for this property)

2057 Vespucci Boulevard, Apt 1 (I actually downsized from 0605 Spanish Avenue, Apt 1 for this property). (I found out after I bought this that it was close to my office and to a modest car wash).

1905 Davis Avenue (I wanted to be in the 'hood and it's close to my favourite car wash).

Imponte Deluxo

Coquette Classic

Declasse Impaler

I hated that 2057 Vespucci Boulevard, Apt 1 had a 2 car garage, but I love its location and when I bought 0605 Spanish Avenue, I thought it was in Little Seoul, but it wasn't, so I traded it and now I like how when you step out of 2057 Vespucci Boulevard, Apt 1, you have ATM machines, and that it's in Little Seoul.

I had 0325 South Rockford Drive, which was a better pad than 2057 Vespucci Boulevard, Apt 1, but like 0605 Spanish Avenue, Apt 1, 0325 South Rockford Drive had a garage on one street and a front door on another, which I didn't like.

The first bong I found was at 2057 Vespucci Boulevard, Apt 1 which I thought was a nice touch, as it's also down the street from my Maze Bank Tower office, but when I discovered a bong in 3655 Wild Oats Drive, I was home.

WHAT!?

I don't know that I'd call these my "favorite" but they are good purchases...

 - Buzzard

 - Cargobob

 - Import/Export, and Special Crate Warehouses

 - AP Pistol for shooting from vehicles

 - All the guns... The main mechanic of the game is shooting folk. Might as well have all of the tools. Of course you'll find some are better than others, but its worth sorting through em.

 - Night club and Terrobyte

 - MC Businesses (you need these to take advantage of the night club)

 - Oppressor Mk II... I feel like a tool putting this on the list, but honestly there is a ton of utility in owning this. Especially if you have an MC.

 - Bunker... Decent for solo cash. Buy one set of supplies for 75k. That 75k nets 210k selling a single vehicle at the greatest distance. Profit is 135k each time you sell. You can sell every two hours. Between this and the night club you are free to do whatever you want in the game while these make cash unattended. Just come back and sell from time to time.

 - Akula. Off the radar is nice.

 - Hangar... the Akula has to go somewhere. In general the personal aircraft feature is nice to have as well, though I'll still tend to use Pegasus so I can keep my personal vehicle available.

 - Deluxo. Of all the cars with a gimmick this one is actually fun to drive.

Worst purchases

 - Yacht. Far and away the most useless thing you'll ever own.

 - MC businesses (These are horrible without a night club. Never buy upgrades for these, just own the businesses so you can set the night club staff to run them).

 - MOC. redundant since the introduction of the Terrobyte

 - Avenger. redundant since the introduction of the Terrobyte

"Meh" purchases

 - Facility... worth it for storing certain vehicles (jet pack) but you can live without it. I guess its worth doing the setups for earning the trade price on things like the Deluxo though.

Favorite...

A good muscle car... Good for grinding out contact missions old school style because this is Grand Theft Auto god damn it.

Oh, I should add another favorite:

Phantom Wedge:  it's a blast to smash NPC traffic during Plowed and while delivering bunker stock. My goal is always to make them explode either by making them get serious air or by ramming them into obstacles.

Agreed. My favorite two occurrences are blasting cars over the railing on a high bridge, and launching motorcyclists high into the air without them coming off their bike. Still funny after all this time.

I Find most of business are CRAP. Usually involves doing incredibly stupid things, or being the grunt instead of the boss, or several waves of enemies that magically know where you are.

The most useful thing I found for missions:

ARMORED KURUMA.

My least favorite purchase is the Penthouse.

Its not even really very cool for the outrageous price of it

Give me a corner room midlevel and I dont care if Avery guts the Penthouse, sorry Ms. Baker

Favorite purchase is still the LF-22 Starling

The Downtown Vinewood weed farm is great because both the single truck sale and the weed variant thereof take about 3 minutes to complete.

So you can run it during x2 week and you need on average 4 restarts to get one of the single trucks, but then that pays about $350k for 5 minutes of "work".

Actually the MOC is a very good free roam survival vehicle.     It's faster then the Terrorbyte, can withstand over 60 MKII rockets, and has so much ramming power it's almost just as good as a Phantom Wedge.     Plus you can shoot from it and toss bombs out of it.

If you want to roam around in something that will really piss off the MKII tryhards, take out the MOC.

Heck start up haulage and connect the mission trailer, you'll be next to invincible for a solid 20 minutes.

Terrorbyte is a handy took for grinding missions/businesses.    But in terms of just surviving the streets of Los Santos, the MOC is sorely underappreciated.

It's pretty fun, guys has to call in like 3 MKII's to have a shot a destroying you.    I love to run Haulage in public sessions, a lot of people don't realize the trailer is indestructible.    Once had 3 MKII's after me and they couldn't destroy me.

Phantom Wedge is no good because even though most missions will hit the back of the trailer, it's still close enough that the explosion will destroy the truck.

The MOC though, it's just glorious watching people feabily attempt to disrupt your work.

Hangar is good.     You need it to customize certain aircraft and having access to the army base with no cops is quite nice.

Best Business Purchases:

-Buzzard--seriously, use it all the time for CEO/VIP work, thanks to people here for recommending it

-Chumash Bunker--my main moneymaker and has the benefit of being one of the "cheap" bunkers

-Maze West Office+Vehicle workshop--"Cheap" for an office, you have to get one to do CEO work so might as well save as much $$ as possible, vehicle workshop nice to be able to mod your stuff right at the office, worth that upgrade as well as the garage spaces if you like cars.  Free snacks?

-Cheapest I/E warehouse in gangland and grind to the 75% to source/sell all top ends

-Terrorbyte--Fun, good paying missions, fun to try to mess with Broomstick Bois with the drone, and strategic time saver for I/E sourcing [usually call it after dropping guns off somewhere in the middle of nowhere and 80% of the time the I/E car to pick up is way out in the middle of nowhere so saves a ton of time]

-Nightclub--Passive income totally worth it and sometimes is fun to dance [plus the paywall for the Terrorbyte]--this paid for itself relatively quickly

Best Non-Business Purchases:

-Armored Insurgent Pickup for free roam--it rams anything and is pretty damned fast, though not bulletproof it's good enough and will take missiles from the broomstickers and you can often blow them up with the proxy mine upgrade by exploding traffic behind you

-Cheetah Classic--love it

-Turismo Classic and Infernus Classic -- free as I won them on the wheel but these 2 and the Cheetah are the cars I mainly drive

-Recent Paleto Bay Safehouse--great place to chill out a bit and wind down a bit after grinding even though there is no view [which blows]

-Carbine Rifle MKII--I love how it sounds and looks and is my primary weapon

-AP Pistol--for driving and gunning

Worst Business Purchases:

-Facility--I have not done any of the Doomsday Heists as of yet [eventually a buddy and I will get to them] but it's like a pure pay to play that I should have waited for if not skipped entirely

-Schafter V12 Armored--I didn't want a Kuruma because I saw so many douches driving around in them but I pretty much should have just joined the douches as the Schafter, while sounding and looking cool, doesn't even seem armored, unless the NPCs are driving them of course

-MOC--Super effing expensive but the rig is cool when you are in a hostile lobby.  Not remotely worth it unless you have oodles of money spilling out of your pockets, which partly thanks to this purchase, I do not

-Buying the Paleto Bay Coke lockup.  Holy ball$ac that thing is in the middle of nowhere.  Luckily, I have only run 2-3 missions out of it since I really just bought it for the nightclub, and now that I have the Paleto safehouse it's less horrible

Worst Non-Business Purchases:

-Penthouse.  So dumb, and was my first big "non-business" buy.  I thought the "OFFICE" upgrade was actually an OFFICE not a $300,000 glorified cell phone.  Luckily I'm a Prime/Twitch member and dumb lucked out with a refund of at least the base price.  Caveat is I just started using the limo and man that thing is a lot of fun if you want an interesting way to get place to place.  That driver has stones of steel.

-Pfister Nero--what a horrific car.  At least I bought it on a discount week.  I wanted to like it so much as it's one of the best looking cars in the game, and I love Porsches, but nothing can excuse that hot mess of handling and lack of steering/turning.  I sold it as it disgusted me after a while to even see it sitting in my garage

-Elegy Retro Custom--not worth the money but I won't sell it since I spent too much on it

I wish I had a few million back in the bank for the Facility and the MOC, but all in all I like to think I've [mostly] been smart, thanks to the suggestions of this board and Reddit
