- It has a great foundation (GTA V itself) as a base.

- It literally has no competitition. There's no Watch_Dogs Online, Mafia Online or Saints Row Online, the closest thing would be APB Reloaded and that's not exactly a good game either.

Recently I played Mafia 3 since it was a ps plus game a little while ago and thought it could be a good competition to GTAO if they had a good online part of it

7/10

Its probably the game I have played the longest, by now, and the bigger reason why I bought a PS4.

This game has the most detailed and artfully created map I have ever seen by now, its not big but its sheer amount of detail makes up for that, 6 years later and I'm still discovering new things...My only complaint about it is the lack of dense florests and over abundance of mountains the entire state looks like a valley, it also needs a more interesting destination for it's vast highway system than Paleto Bay, San Fierro would be much better.

In terms of content, it has something for everyone, one can easily spend two to three hours a day playing casually just to see what's going on.

With this being said, it has many flaws and many problems that takes me out of the game:

Unstable FPS in many situations, toxic playerbase that only wants to f*ck you up for the most part, and the game caters to said players, in-game prices are clearly geared towards microtransactions which albeit being optional, are also exploitative.

The game also fell victim to spaghetti coding, old features cannot be touched and improved upon because it can create entirely unrelated bugs so the devs won't touch it...which means that the chance of a quality of life focused update is unlikely and this game greatly needs it.

Also connectivity issues, R* went cheap here and choosed to build the network of this game with peer to peer in mind, which allows them to not spend much to maintain it...This allowed modders to dominate this game on last gen and PC and R* really can't do much about it due to how the game's network is client based.

Also tons of connectivity issues that makes us stare at clouds for too long, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to load up a online session whereas in other games this can be done in 5 minutes or much less...this is unacceptable for a game released in for current gen systems.

Currently, I can only enjoy this game in small doses, like 3 to 4 hours a week.

9/10 tbh. Based solely on how many hours I've spent in this game. Sure, it has flaws, but it keeps me coming back unlike other games that are objectively better but lack appeal.

Also it's the best modern game for car costumisation and cars in general.

Until now, I didn't know Spaghetti coding had an official definition in the industry--interesting!

Though I prefer the term "rat's nest" that author Paul Noll uses in the above article, for obvious reasons.

As it is now? 4/10 seems charitable - it's just such an unbalanced, inconsistent, contradictory mess of a thing these days, and the only slight enjoyment I can get out if it requires me to play it like a solo, offline game, and ignore almost everything released after 2015.

Heaven help someone trying to get into the game now - although I suppose that a new player wouldn't have any illusions that the game once tried to be a "living online world", rather than just a city-shaped Content™ repository, designed for repetitive, grindy gameplay, and ridiculously-expensive griefing toys. We're a long way from this, and I really do miss those days:

I think 6/10 is a fair score.

Still above average, even after all these years.  There is definitely room for improvement, but no indication that they can be bothered.  You cannot turn off notifications, for example, even though it's listed in the options menu.  Instead they made them as bad as possible, so you have a harder time getting rid of them, and the walls of text that cover the entire left side of the screen for minutes on end.  I've been killed more than once because of phone calls.

They also went out of their way to restrict the sandbox, which is undoubtedly the most important part of a GTA game, and the reason the game appeals to so many different types of gamers and is a monster financial success.  They should unlock all the interiors in free mode and add as much other fun stuff, like the aircraft carrier and the NPC yacht, as possible.  Even that little map for North Yankton should have been cleaned up and added, imo.  Anything to improve and expand the sandbox is a worthy investment, if you ask me.

Lobby options would have also made the game much better for more players, but they couldn't be bothered.  I suppose I should just be grateful that they haven't removed private lobbies entirely.  Allowing players to control the settings for the lobbies they play in could solve complaints when it comes to things like the MKII, for example, if you could have lobbies with no weaponized vehicles and/or explosives.

And of course the microtransactions are a whole other can of worms.  I'm not sure what would have been the better option there, since I cannot honestly expect R* to continue creating new content without having a source of income for it.  So what, paid DLC packs?  I wouldn't mind that personally, so long as the content itself was free in-game, but then again I'm not a broke kid anymore, so I can sympathize with those that don't have real money to throw away on imaginary pixel items in a video game.

This is half-and-half for me.

A 5/10.

While I've had a number of good experiences throughout the 5 years I've been playing - the negatives are starting to outweigh the best parts, until (if) R* decides to pull up their bootstraps and repair what needs servicing on a progressively obsolete system.

I will rate the game at about noine and when broomsticks are about I'd rate it a two.

Most of my priorities are in selling bunker and nightclub goods. Anything else is just me flying around and racing. Staying busy is the key to staying happy with this game for me.

I loved GTAO but it is so stale now, I feel that it lost all the essence which originally made it great, as a result of the flying broomsticks and weaponized turd mobiles I got pushed away from the game. I'm into modding now (GTAV, not O) and will most likely go to FiveM someday because I don't like what R* are doing with their game.

I rated 5/10

I still give a 7 after starting RDO,mainly because the map is so great.

I won't be playing GTA unless something really cool is added, or I start to feel a craving, but that's gonna be a while.

At the mo it's actually more enjoyable to watch others play GTA.

5/10.

Has potential, but is ruined by too many dumb weaponized vehicles and griefing tools. The content is there, but it's very hard to enjoy it with others. The game actually shines best when you get a solo public session. Which seems backwards.

10 pre-OPMKII-update. I still played after that point, but after logging back in to test out the cars that have come out since the RDO update dropped, I will take that game, warts and all, all day long.

I voted a 5, now.  It is still the best selling game of all time for a reason, but OPMKII dueling is tiresome.  I am assuming nothing has been done to allow you to lock on to someone on an MKII since RDO launched frontier pursuits update.  I might come back if that were fixed, or, better yet, delete everyone's OPMKII and give them refunds.

To be fair, that's why I love on call options in either game really. With money or job completion no real issue and not being one that cares much about winning either, it can be quite entertaining to see what comes of random stuff out there, good or bad players, or just dumb bad luck at times with bugs or epic fails. Or how far some go for a win, lol. Crazy sods.

It's the shenanigans that make it special, what's life without a laugh?

Good times with friends, even if I can't actually play with them, I'll follow the streams.

I agree. I actually watch a lot of the RP streamers, it's pretty creative & funny. Makes the game look so much fun, I really wish Rockstar introduced RP tools themselves on all platforms. Really makes me wish I had a good PC setup.

Sometimes it seems I'm the only one who likes being able to bypass other players. I agree with your first statement though.

I actually enjoy playing alone as well, but If playing with others was made more fun, I'd definitely partake in it more. It's just such a headache with randoms that there's no point.

Yeah it's certainly rare to find new players in free roam or missions that aren't total tools. Most people i used to play with have since dropped GTA and I haven't really bothered with trying to add more people aside from a couple I met here. But in bypassing other players I found that I can play exactly how I want without worrying about boring the other person. I find not too many stay entertained with me drifting around the twisty mountain roads.

I used to grind away in solo lobbies. Money was good, but the grind was just so tedious I thought to myself "why don't I just play a real single player game that's actually good?" When playing this game, I feel obligated to play with other players, it's why I only play survivals.

7 out of 10 for me.

I still play it for several hours each weekend......and it's still by far my favorite online game ever...

But I have two problems:

1.  The prices on everything have made me gun shy about buying anything.  In other words, I have $14 million dollars to my character's name...and yeah, there are some things I'd like to buy but I'm holding my money for fear that something REALLY cool I'd like to have will come out.   In other words, it takes so much work to grind and get money and prices are so high that I'm hesitant to spend the money in the game.

2.  The Oppressors MK2.  I love riding them but in every lobby there's the dbag that likes to target other players constantly in it.   And it doesn't help that they eliminated the rifle/gun lock-on, so now I'm forced to try throwing sticky bombs or trying to hit the Oppressor rider with the Up-n-Atomizer pistol which doesn't work that well.    I wish the Oppressor had a cool down on missles or lower stock of missles, like 4-5 missles and then you have to go reload it at a base, not a Terrobyte or MOV or plane or anything mobile.

Try the Explosive Sniper. I have relative success with it as 9 times out of 10, the knobjockeys who use the OP2 against me whilst I’m on foot tend to stop mid-air to line up their missile. Then they get blown off the thing. For added fun, if they land like a sack of sh*t on the ground near you but don’t die, run up and finish them off with a knife. Then message them and watch them leave the session like crying little bitches.

2013: Not much to do but it has potential. 5/10
2015: Good DLCs so far. And heists finally. 7/10
2017: It's getting more unbalanced. DLCs are more work and less fun. 3/10
2018: Oppressor Mk II. 1/10
2019: There are less oppressors now I guess? 2/10

Overall rating: 4/10

Pretty much. I love the contact missions but eventually it felt like I was a hamster on a wheel playing this game. Doing the same thing over and over and over again. It got old fast. If I ever get back in to GTA Online, I'm going to spice it up more.

It's almost exactly how I feel playing now, I have a job that I work in order to pay bills already, that's why I want to play a game in off hours, but if you give up the grind you're always behind... I have to MTU a lobby to make a sale, and I have to make the sales, otherwise I'm going to lose money, so when I play I'm doing Nightclub -> Bunker -> 2 source and sell cars, spin the wheel and get my 10,000 chips, 2,500RP or clothing item ->.....

Today I bought a property in Paleto Bay purely randomly after being taken to that part of the map from a Headhunter mission and seeing a property below.  It's a dump and at least it was cheap at $155K, but I thought to myself: why couldn't I have bought the property directly across the street with a gigantic amazing view of Paleto and surrounding areas?  I guess I'm gonna have to hang out in the neighbor's backyard a lot.  That said, calling a rusty old Toyota Hilux out [Kanis Rebel I think is the truck in the game] to drive around that area was really fun, and made me think I need to start grinding it less and enjoying it more...

1 point for still solid graphics in 2019

1 for good pc framerates

1 overall very smooth gameplay

1 for the amount of cars

-1 pc crashes for thousands of people since casino update. the crash post on steam forums is the biggest post of all time. no fix insight

-1 stoneage connection and its problems

-1 cheaters still not banned

-1 chinese invasion

-1 losermarkII and all the other retarded meme vehicles

-1 still only one type of freemode. game needs a second freemode for people that want realism and roleplay.

4/10

my professional opinion: trash
