NEW IN RED DEAD ONLINE: FEAR OF THE DARK (October 29th)

Fear of the Dark is a terrifying new limited-time addition to Red Dead Online Showdown Modes pitting supernaturally fast, tough and strong Night Stalkers against mere mortal Hunter counterparts. The Night Stalkers' powers, however, are tied to the skull masks strewn about their stomping grounds. The more masks the Hunters get their hands on, the weaker the Night Stalkers become, while the Hunters' own weapons grow stronger.

 

Hunters can only succeed in this new mode by collecting all of the masks and killing all remaining Night Stalkers. Night Stalkers can win by either wiping out the Hunters or surviving until the time limit expires.

Play Fear of the Dark now through November 12th in Red Dead Online. And to sweeten the deal, the entire Fear of the Dark series pays out a hearty 3X Gold and 2X RDO$ through November 3rd.

Like last week, Licensed Bounty Hunters will receive an exclusive variant of the Creature Mask; Traders will receive an exclusive Swine Mask; while Collectors receive an exclusive Masquerade Mask -- all free of charge. Meanwhile, players who achieve Tiers 10 and 20 of the Outlaw Pass can look forward to free and exclusive versions of the Freak and Horror Mask, respectively. Players who win a round of the all-new Fear of the Dark mode, will also receive an exclusive tint of the Freak Mask as a reward for their efforts.

 

Be sure to act this week, these masks and the haunting collection available from Madam Nazar are only available through November 3rd.

Yea that's one of the weaker Halloween exclusive modes I've seen in a game tbh.

 

Why not just do a zombie survival? Or player zombies vs player hunters if you wanna do PvP? This running around for masks trying not to get stabbed by tanks is a big fat meh.

From a story perspective, it could've been an interesting bounty, but the way it plays out is uninteresting. Escort mission with some shooting pretty much, and how it plays out is predictable and sorta ruins what could've been a unique bounty.

 

If they do a round two of these legendary bounties I hope they take player feedback into account because so far not one of the bounties has matched the first one. Challenging co-op content involving a great shootout in a cool location is what these should be, not a run of the mil standard bounty poster with dialogue.

 

The first one and the sniper one are the best so far.

At least we got some new clothing this week, I won't be buying any of it though. I'm getting tired of all the gaudy sh*t R* are releasing.

 

The Legendary Bounty was alright, won't be bothering with 4* or 5* though this week, it was too predictable on the 1* run, on my 2* and 3* runs I shot him as soon as the mission allowed. Come on R*, I want big, set piece, clichéd Western shoot outs.

 

Fear of the Dark is absolute f*cking garbage, there's no sugar coating it. It's GTAO Adversary Mode level w*nk, PvP for the sake of PvP. A Halloween themed co-op PvE Survival mode could, and would, have been so much better.

So, they can add a survival mode with Night Folks in  swamp at night, or put us in butchers creek with the crazy Villagers just like RE4, but instead of that they give us that....adversary mode ¬¬

Ugh, an escort mission. I kind of just wanted to beat the location out of the f*cker, throw him in my Bounty Wagon and go Carmageddon on those NPCs on horses.

I agree - it would have been way more unique if he hadn’t tried to bolt.

 

The first one was the most fun because it had a tactical element to it - you could stealthily pick off a lot of the sentries before the big epic firefight.  Stealth wasn’t really much of an option with the sniper.

 

All of these bounties would be more fun if there were tactical decisions to make.  As it is, while the story of each target is interesting, and there are some good unique gameplay elements to each one, we are definitely on rails once the mission starts.

I couldnt get a lobby to start through the quick join.  So, I used the online tab and it worked.  Fairly decent showdown.  Seems like we got a true detective inspired outfits.
