Greatest Pleasure You've Ever Experienced

Recommended Posts

The Time Ranger

So what was it, the greatest high, the most intense pleasure, that beauitful rush of endorphims and dopamine that made you feel on top of the world.

Maybe it was sex, drugs, or maybe both. Or was it a more soothing gentle pleasure like admiring the beauty of nature or enjoying the company of a loved one, what are the stand out highs from your life?

For me nothing really comes to mind, i've lived a boring life, comfortable and safe thankfully, i'm very lucky that way but boring all the same, so what are yours?

Aside from the depressing and unreal experience of leaving high school and my classmates, graduating was truly one of the greatest pleasures I've had.

3 years of hard work and stress was finally over and literally all doors were opened up for me. I truly had the feeling of freedom and could do a part-time job while chilling in my spare time. Again, I was sad about leaving the school itself and all the people I knew there. It was the three most exciting and giving years of my life, and I felt bad for leaving it.

Gains come with its losses.

Mister Pink

When I was studying, I was planning for the future. I got these really intense bouts of euphoria and happiness. It lasted a few weeks. It was so nice. I was trying to figure out what it was, so I can try keep it going or at least give myself the best chance of feeling that naturally high and happy. I think it was down to many things: Sense of achievement through learning. not having the stress of people around me like I used to have (simplifying my life), cutting out alcohol (not completely but reducing it massively), cutting out other recreational activities associated with partying and generally being more productive (creating music, photography, video and more) and learning about myself through therapy.

I used to party, some times for 2-3 days straight, no sleep, no break, so I know what the other highs are like. I got my act together and seek highs through personal and professional development now which is more rewarding then a 2 day bender will ever be.

I still enjoy socialising but I'm less reliant on it now. I used to be dependent on going out and socialising. It's all I knew. Now, keeping a smaller circle with productive and creative people keeps me happy.

Surprised most of the answers aren't sex. I suppose I'm not missing out too much then.

I'd honestly say getting my first job. As someone with anxiety issues, I was at one point convinced it would never happen. The interview didn't go as well as I hoped, but apparently they liked me. I'll always be grateful for that, and the pleasure/relief I felt, just that "I don't have to spend everyday searching for hours".

Seeing my son for the first time.

It's the only experience in my life that I can't really accurately describe in words. I do know it was the greatest and most overwhelming experience of my life, however.

When I officially left School. I actually left with pretty bad results, but the feeling of being 'free' from School was amazing at first. It's when you grow up a bit that you realize being an adult isn't that much better either. Still, I'd rather be independent and do what I want essentially. The problem with School is you're forced to do so many things that don't really help you when you grow up, I wish I would of had the option of learning more life skills.

Finally telling that one annoying person in your life to just essentially piss off. You might have burned some bridges, but you're much better off without them in your life trying to take advantage of you. Toxic & negative people will only bring you down to their level, and make you feel terrible. Hate being around people who's entire life is just centred around drama and trying to bring you in to it.

I wish I could share those sentiments. My last day of high school was going to the office and signing all the required paperwork so I could leave then I just left....It felt weird. I always pictured myself graduating with my friends. but I left to chase some bogus dream of joining the Air Force. I only had 1 more year left and I should've just stuck it out. It doesn't matter so much now since I'm undertaking an I.T degree at university, but looking back I appreciate all those things they taught me back then, but I just wish I applied myself more.

As for me it was getting my driver's licence. Over here in Aus we have to have a learner's permit where we have to have another driver with us and we have to record how many hours we've driven, how far we've driven etc. It was a major pain. Then we could step up to our provisional 1 and 2 licence before getting the full one.

The day I got off my learner's permit and I could drive myself was one of the greatest things ever. The freedom I felt to go anywhere I wanted without relying on parents/friends was amazing. I've had my full licence for about 8 years now, but going through those early years of learning how to drive a car is probably something I take a bit for granted. I feel sorry for people who don't have a licence for whatever reason.

This could be all bundled in to one from many rare moments over the years, but I really like making someone else laugh or smile. In fact, I probably put it above my own happiness too much. It just feels good to know you made someone else have a better day. My friends used to laugh at things I said quite a bit, but I was like this silent comedian. At least that's how they put it. I don't know how to describe it, I probably have many funny things to say but there is only a handful of times I'll work up the courage to say it out loud.
