PANZER24
yesterday a local gaming page on facebook posted about GTA2 countdown in the main website and speculated that there would be a remaster celebrating 20th anniversary. now that I know that this countdown has been left counting since 1999, but what intrigues me is that there is a date below it "17 nov 19" and another one above it "27 oct 19". but looking at other users' posts from past years they also found dates corresponding to that year like "10 oct 16". why does it show that? it is really mistaking people... DimitriFaustin
The setting of GTA 2 is deliberately ambiguous - the two clocks on the site concur with the manual saying that the game is set "three weeks into the future." Of course, there's also the Police Journals on the very same site that indicate the game is set in 2013, and Johnny Riccaro saying "the millennium's coming - what do you think is gonna happen?" - but Rockstar really should confirm the real time of place once and for all. Literally digging for news. That clock has been there since DAY ONE all the way back in 1999. It was because the game takes place in the "future", but was left vague, the clock takes your computer clock and set it forward, the games manuals say it's constantly set a few weeks ahead, and the games files and website state it's set in 2013. The problem was that AFTER 2013 the clock has no goal and is just constantly counting forward to a random date.
