Oof, 3770k was my first CPU back in 2011.

runs fine even with a 3570k + GTX980ti  @1080p res CPU is overclocked to 4.5ghz but prolly ok at default

Big upgrade time.

We normally get the shaft over here with VAT @20% but I don't think I've done too badly.

Think I've virtually got US pricing with a bit of savvy shopping.

Got an eBay code for 15% off on the CPU making it cheaper than Amazon UK.

32GB 3200Mhz DDR4 (BLS2K16G4D32AESB aka "Micron E-Die" on Amazon UK one day offer for £99.50!)

GIGABYTE X570 AORUS PRO

Phenom II x4 955 -> Ryzen 3700X

It's a bit like going from horse and cart to the space age.

I've waited for years for AMD to get their act together; I've not even got any USB3 ports on this old ASUS board.

No later than Saturday for the other bits hopefully...

You needed to sell a kidney and other body parts for that much RAM a few months ago (when everyone was buying Samsung B-Die)

Now if only some clever chaps at Valve, Codeweavers, WINE, et al - would get it working via Proton.

GTA V works perfectly (apart from the social club overlay)

The melee combat in this looks glorious.

Hope it doesn't end up being another broken f**k up like GTA IV.

Just found out that resoultion scaling gave me major fps boost. I set it up for 0,800 and got +8 FPS in normal gameplay. Of course image is not extra sharp, but still enjoyable and performance is quite smooth.

Any chance on a i5 2500K, gtx 760 2 GB, 12 RAM?

yeah no problem - https://youtu.be/On1OKkiuh3g

the best settings would be ssao on medium and taa on medium, and then textures on ultra

here is how set ultra textures on 2gb vram cards https://youtu.be/pkBYkRdj2WA

and here is a result with gt 1030 - https://youtu.be/KnicaFZ1oIA

i forgot about something - those settings "taa medium, ssao medium, textures ultra" to get 30fps with those 900p would be aight, 768p/720p ideal, forget about 1080p if ur going to use those settings

Go on Youtube and find videos running Red Dead Redemption 2 on the same CPU and GPU like yours. It will give you a clear estimation.

Check out this video. It's a clear indication of what your specs are capable of. Easily one of the best combination to run any game with 1080 on Ultra settings.

The owner probably made with the setup with the aim of being future proof. Running present day games as well as any future ones without having to invest heavily into future hardware.

I don’t have a 2080 super but I think this will work.

It was just to give you an idea. Regular 2080 is more than capable of running the game in the ultra settings.

Anyone with good rigs having issues with this game - specifically textures?

I have a gaming laptop only - i7 8th gen, gtx 1060, 8g ram etc - so I don't expect to look amazing or run spectacularly. But I downloaded RDR2 to test run it and see what kindof set up I'd need to run this optimally, but holy hell the textures are shockingly bad. Like 2005 bad. Specifically things like wood, mountain faces...even boah's coat looks super blurry. Then the frames are wild - going from 25-50. I guess you'd need more ram than 8g, but still shocking how poor it was in all regards.

Did some reading and it looks like even those with higher end rigs struggle.

Can it run on my pc:

Intel i5-94000f

8GB RAM

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB

The GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB it´s some sorcery product, I play with that graphics card in my laptop with very good textures and performance in average, 40-45 fps at mainland and open areas and 30 fps in cities moreless, but I have 16 GB RAM and an Intel Core i7 8th gen so I guess that could reduce your performance...I have uploaded a clip I made a few months ago playing on my laptop but as I said, the graphics card is the same as yours but I have more RAM and CPU

Hello guys, I would like to ask you about my problem with fps in rdr2. With all low I have about 40-45fps, dropping every couple seconds for a second, and dropping even more in a fights. On youtube I saw some videos where ppl with graphic card same as me played with medium/high with the same fps and without drops. I would love to play with 60fps even on low settings. Is that possible? Thx all!

My PC:

GTX 1060 6gb vram

Intel Core i7-8750H 2.20ghz 12CPUs

16gb ram

I have already messaged a member of the forums about this and he has been of a great help, but I didn't know this thread existed and I hope someone has the same or similar specs to these lol

I7 9750h.

GeForce 1050 3gb

24gb of ram (an 8 and a 16)

I have a 500gb SSD.

So what do y'all think of this? can I run it at maybe PS4 settings?

Xbox settings, yeah. You can run it. I played on ultra-high settings with my laptop

I7 9750h

RTX 2060 6 Gb

16 GB RAM 2666 Mhz

SSD 256 + HDD 1TB

I will recommand to you undervolt the CPU because you will get super hot temps

Your running ultra? wow.

I have a simular specced laptop.

i7 10750h,

RTX 2060 (the refreshed 115watt version),

2x8gb 2666 Mhz,

1 TB M.2 nvme.

I have just stuck to High preset which seems to be a good balance,

I only have the online version so not sure how this effects things, also I have not really been playing the game much tbh so I have not tried to optimize settings.

I agree with your comment about a CPU undervolt I have not bothered to yet because it has been winter in the UK since I have had this laptop, but it definatly gets toasty on certain games and probably bottlenecks the 2060 tbh.

Which would explain why it still peforms well in ultra for you, I guess (I just have not tried).

No it's not the bottlenecks, the problem with a 10th generation of intel at laptops some models can't be undervolted and in gaming "normally" to have 90C-100C it's okay but no, it is not. My I7 when I bought and from desktop pc to laptop to saw so much temps I was scared, Now in gaming I have sometimes 90C in general I have 75-83C when I played some games like rdr2 or gta

Just adding in here with some good advice.
A consolidiation of conclusions forthflowing many threats here and elsewhere.

If you have a strong rig, like a 3070 Ti with Ryzen 5600x or any graphics card / processor combination stronger than that, assuming it's combined with at least 16GB of high performance RAM memory and ReBAR enabled, you can 4k Ultra this game.
However... configure your ultra like this:

DLSS: Off
TAA: High
FXAA: Off
MSAA: Off
Water physics quality: slider half-way

In the named configuration it should get you a stable 45fps with the game looking beautiful.
If you have a 3080 Ti or a 3090 (actually just a 3080 Ti with more VRAM) and a 5950x you can do the same with near 60 fps solid.
Few dips when entering towns but nothing beyond the reasonable.

Want more frames?
Best sacrifices are, in this order:
- Water

- Volumetrics
- Reflections / tree tesselation

About the Vulkan or DX12 matter:
If you have fps-counters and measurements overlay services installed of any kind, best keep running in Vulkan.
Vulkan also gives you higher highs when the framerate is high, but also dips into lower lows when the framerate is low.
If your computer isn't a high end machine (10-series card, higher grade Intel i7 or better) the game also runs better using the Vulkan API in medium-high to high settings.

If you have a beefy big rig with all the latest goodies, DX12 adds the smallest pinch of extra fidelity, with slightly lower framerate on average (difference gets effectively less the more you're ultra-ing) but less peaks and dips so it's a bit more constant.

Some final notes:
Do not use MSI Afterburner for anything other than a custom fan curve.
Even if it boots up with a mere 100mhz added it will cause stability issues.
It will also not make differences in the benchmark.

Have the least amount of background services running.
This game is not well optimized regardless of how well it looks and does not excel in stability.

I hope this post helps many readers considering this website a more trusted source than any random reddit threat.
Feel free to criticize.
