Or if you dont care about life and death just bum rush him with the lasso and drag his a*s out of the swamp before he has a chance to run away!

When I find the bounty I pick a suitable location on dry land thats far from any body of water to hogtie him. I use the quick hogtie method of getting up right next to him. Your character will do the quicker hogtie method of pushing him down to the ground and hogtie much quicker. The alligators can use the water to mask their approach, but without it they stick out like a sore thumb. Eagle Eye also highlights them so use it constantly to scan the surrounding area. Do this and its rather easy to dispatch all of the alligators. I use tomahawks so I do not alert the human enemies dispatching them all if they weren't alerted beforehand. Putting your camera as far back as it will go during this part of the mission also helps.

The hit detection is so poor that I stopped using the shotgun and now I just use my own machete. As he approaches I just mash circle and you can’t be instakilled that way. It’s much safer.

I use the lasso just let him close enough to try to hogtie him and he will disappear!

You can also lasso him from the horse and drag him away, just careful not to kill him. Drag him to a place you are comfortable fending off the alligators. 

 

Fend off the alligators from your horse, seems to give you one extra layer of protection.

I use a scoped repeater. The scope invalidates the aim inaccuracy caused by your intoxication in the beginning.

Yeah, hit detection/aim is just ...well, it's rubbish, frankly. I found that aiming low (ignore the dot going red - that's meaningless) and waiting until he got close did it, but that's admittedly risky.

 

Anyone else have it that five-star difficulty made the radar blips stop working? I did it last night, and it's not impossible, but it's still a real pain having arrows coming out of seemingly nowhere, and alligators virtually insta-spawning, since you can't see them until they're almost on top of you. :*(  At least there seems to be a finite limit of homing gators - sometimes it's just as easy to ride around and shoot them all, then get on with the rest of the mission when they stop coming.

 

Not fun by the end (R*'s idea of higher difficulty seems to be less about skill/challenge, more just inconvenience and throwing balance out of the window...), but eh, buckle earned, so that's something I never need to do again, at least...

Yeah, it’s intentional. The Night Folk stop appearing on the radar at higher difficulties, and they won’t glow in Dead Eye either, only their corpses and the gators will. It makes the machete rushers a literal pain to deal with.

 

The gators, however, will appear as a red dot, but only when they’re near you, and you’re on horseback. The far-away ones in the middle of menacingly waddling towards you won’t appear until it’s too late, but you can still see them with Dead Eye.

Guess I oughta try this guy once or twice tonight while I still I can... iunno, my interest in the Legendary Bounties has steadily waned as they go on.

Couldn't force myself past 2 * Something about this bounty idk I just think it sucks. Did all others on solo 5 * runs/free aim. This one after one try...(with the bullsh*t hallucinating & idiotic script) No thanks. (Our character really just got lured into inhaling them fumes ?? Why??) Dissapointing.

I just don't like running the same missions over and over within a short time frame. It'd be nice to be able to just play it at five stars immediately rather than slog through multiple runs on easy mode just to get to what I really want. Heck, even that wouldn't be so bad if they stuck around permanently for replays... so I guess what I really don't like is this FOMO horsesh*t where basic gameplay elements like new missions are now Limited Time Special Events for nothing but the sake of inflating engagement stats and blowing smoke up some piece of sh*t stockholder's hairy ass.....

Found out that you can eat ginseng to get the radar back in the beginning....

Thats what I was hoping for. I think for all the bounties if you complete the 5th star there should be a cutscene to close it off

I hope they don't plan on continuing to rotate legendary bounties once they're all done. Best outcome would be to get a sub menu at the bounty board and let us play the ones we want. I get that some people probably enjoy the rotation but I find all of this curation of content to be kind of annoying.
