Law offices across the West have requested the immediate apprehension of Philip Carlier, wanted for embezzlement and the murder of a fellow employee of the Lemoyne Trading Company. Since the killing two years ago, Carlier has lived alone, on the fringes, in the swamps of Lagras. It is said that this isolation, combined with a taste for dissociative chemicals, has twisted the middle-aged murderer's mind. This Legendary Bounty is considered extremely volatile and should only be approached by the most resolute of bounty hunters.

 

Pick up Philip Carlier's wanted poster at any sheriff's office to begin the pursuit and revisit the Bounty Board again after a brief period to replay the mission at an increased difficulty.

 

 

 

With All Hallows' Eve fast approaching, Madam Nazar has obtained a smattering of masks that are sure to delight and terrify in equal measure. For a limited time only, she is offering masks for those indulging in the season - ranging from the horrifying Freak Mask to the macabre Swine Mask.

 

 

Additionally, players who are in any of the three Specialist Roles will get a free mask. Licensed Bounty Hunters will receive an exclusive variant of the Creature Mask; Traders will receive an exclusive Swine Mask; while Collectors receive an exclusive Masquerade Mask -- all free of charge. Beyond disappointing this week.

 

The Legendary Bounty mission doesn't do it for me. The drugged/hallucination segment reminded me too much of the GTA V Trevor and Micheal side missions I didn't really care for.

 

It's a huge step down from the big shootout in the first Legendary Bounty. I want more big western set pieces, bad guys falling from saloon roofs as I shoot them and all of that clichéd cr*p.

 

The lack of any clothing for a second week on the bounce is sh*t, utterly sh*t.

 

I've b*tched about the masks across the RDO section for most of the day, so I'll avoid more repetition here. For those who've managed miss my opinion though, they're an abomination, seeing them makes me sad.

This is just abysmal. 

 

The start of the bounty doesn't make sense, why would our character get so up close and personal? I guess all those falls from the horses gave them a bit of brain damage.

Well, ghastly masks aside, I believe this bounty has more thought and creativity put into it than Cecil Tucker.

 

Anyway, it's recommended you keep a shotgun on you in this mission. Helps deal with the nightmare sequence, and with the gators who'll occassionally tunnel you as you're searching for Philip or escorting him to the nearest jail.

The drugged part actually made me think of Far Cry. But I do agree, rather boring otherwise. The masks could be ok if they only made them available during Halloween. I wish they could make a LB where you actually had to put some effort into it. Not only just track clues, but interrogate and question people. A mission that would take you over half the map. Maybe target could escape and you would have to track him down again.

Didn't really like the first part of the legendary bounty this week. 

First run, I got killed by gators twice using both lives but completed the mission. Had some time to kill so I took my new friend on a dat.. Ahem.. tour of St. Denis. 

 

Hitting the bars.. 

 

 

Catching a movie.. 

 

Second time around, I made it without dying. Tagged the bounty with a tracking arrow, found a good spot in the open and took the gators out with a bolt action rifle and express rounds until they stopped. Most of them died with 1 headshot but some took 2 or 3.

It was the archers that did the most damage, mainly because I couldn't see them very well, even with Eagle Eye +. 

 

Spent some time at the start of the second try looking for herons but the clock seems to be locked to around 5:01 and the spawns don't seem very good. Lots of gators to stock up on big game meat though.

I'm at the point of not touching the game during crap weeks like this. Not because there is nothing new to do, but because the disappointment is higher than the joy I get from the game. I stopped caring about a daily challenge streak months ago too, so breaking that won't bother me at all. 

Them masks are an absolute joke and so is the way they present it to us. The thing that puzzles me the most is how Rockstar is able to think that this is what we really want. I don't think I've seen any posts on social media, requesting for more masks. Yet, here they are, while a massive amount of other requests get unheard. 

I know I don't have to buy them, don't have to wear the ones that are shoved down my throat either, nor will I see many people wearing them (since I hardly see any other players at all), but the fact they're there just spoils a good chunk of my fun in this game. Can't even justify a creature mask as a native war- or ritual mask in any way. 

If this is the way Rockstar is going, I think I'm actually pretty happy no new clothes appeared this week, or any pink/purple/lime green recolour versions of existing clothes.

 

Next time I'd rather be left a choice. The reward item or the amount of money you'd have to pay to obtain it.

I know it's standard practice to criticize new content, but I dare to differ. I like the masks. 

 

Keep in mind this is the nineteenth century west and their version of scary or elaborate wasn't necessarily what ours would be. For one thing, the average person wouldn't have a closet full of sophisticated masks on per with what we can find in department stores today. So in terms of immersion, I'd say that hand made, hand painted, or low-rent masks make total sense in this game world.

 

If the issue is that these new masks feel like contrived holiday content, according to Google Halloween was indeed celebrated in nineteenth century America (by European immigrants - probably not natives, i agree there).

While I'm sure they didn't have bright fluorescent masks, Halloween was celebrated in the 1890's and many people wore masks and they were quite creepy. While the masks aren't for me (and a lot of other people I'm sure) at least they tried to be authentic

I don't really see the masks as authentic to the period, though - that's still kids in weird versions of theatre masks and elf/devil costumes, though, rather than a garishly-coloured version of something more like what you'd see in a modern slasher movie.

 

Frankly, things like witches, devil horns, ghosts in sheets, that sort of stuff? Actually more the sort of thing people would wear for a Halloween party, even back then - or even less 'spooky' and more 'absurd' stuff, like old-timey clown costumes (think Pierrot, not Pennywise).

 

I get that R* wants to split the difference between 'trendy/edgy for badass modern Gamers™' and 'scruffy/handmade, because rugged outlaw stuff', but ...eh, I think the game would be better served with more actually period-authentic stuff, or just not bother, rather than leaning more extreme and videogame-y.

i nly bought the creature mask cause it reminded me of a wolf skull, bounty was pretty rad with these nightfolk, but don't care for the edgy style masks.at all. i was hoping for clothes.....
