They could do a Netflix or Hulu type thing with episodic shows. They could still have the funny stuff with Lazlow, and songs on the radio but it could be podcasts and Spotify type playlists instead. The networks of which would include: Netflix and Hulu. A steady Internet signal would always have to be at the ready, however. The experience would be akin to real life, the major nuance being that your customized character would be absorbing real footage via their licensed television within the game you are playing, on your television screen/personal computer monitor... (all on Day One). The PlayStation 5 would be a friend to a global base if this MIRACL3 was perched before salivating consumers at retailers... GTK0HLK Posted October 21, 2019 Share Posted October 21, 2019 I think the whole podcast thing would work in a story sense as well.., for if there where interesting random radio clips from talk shows or news that occur during the progression of the game.., so say a certain event, or crime, and the hosts talk about it.., or something unrelated.., sometimes it's easy to miss those.., and it would also clear up the radio from repeated annoying news that happened along time ago.., and each site, radio channel, and etc.., depending on the contest can be backlogged on a podcast site.., or yt equivalent.., and it pretty much only works on modern with ease.., (it can be possible with an old time setting.., but past recordings tend to be locked down.., and there are many hurdles to get over making it janky.., and at risk of unbelievable) it would work akin to games that have a cinema, or past events category in the start menu, or etc.., that you have been through in past play throughs.., would make it interesting for those who want to see their favorite or hated character die.., or the antics that go on.., but actually in-game.., instead of out of it.., or locked in a basement where no one would see it in time periods of yore.., Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It could also lead to strangers and freaks mission. For example you beat the high score of some psychotic nerd on a Tetris inspired minigame,then he finds out who you are and starts bothering you via phone calls and e mails untill the protagonist decides to execute him lol. That way they could still have their genre separated stations but also mingle in a few local ones with commercials. I tend to find the commercials in GTA to be more entertaining than the music a lot of times. I don't really care too much what they do with the TV but that video game suggestion does sound pretty cool. They could even make them sort of a hidden package replacement. If I managed to get myself into a solo public session but needed to eat or something I could just sit my character down in front of the TV while I cooked and ate without being booted for being idle. Wake up in your safehouse and watching the news adds some immersion especially if it's you that made the news. Weazel news would cover big events that make national headlines in the story and the local news would cover your local crimes and stuff from the city like the Police Chief complaining about crime or whatever. I just cant stand modern times and everybodys obsession with social media and other crap. i doubt we all had it in our minds that it was forced.., it was more on the topic of side things that add to the world, but a rent largely impacting in the large scale.., like that one zombie movie says.., you got to enjoy the lil things as well.., though this isn't something that your interested.., (and id easily assume, it's not because it's modern.., but due to your linking modern to cheap trash..,) whatever floats you boat.., but there are many things that are modern that started in the past.., and a past setting can easily be ruined with modern ideas implemented into time periods.., just how one can record things on the screen, or if you have the hardware record the radio in a past era as well.., which would be a nice thing to add.., but not necessarily forced.., (but it seems easier to miss things if you only focus on the right in front..,) (note: I'm general.., it's not a bad thing.., it's the trash that gets injected that is bad.., and most of that trash originated, and started in the past.., just like some of our, or mosts people's nostalgic protagonists.., and that's a pretty good thing..,) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The talk radio stations aren't really any different than a podcast and they're some of the best bits of side entertainment in video games. Plus, it's not like you just sit in your safehouse and listen to it, it's something to break up the monotony of a car ride. I found the TV stations and movie theaters in V to be a decent enough diversion from time to time, but yeah, it'd be pretty stupid if those were things they actually forced you yo do. Lotte Posted October 24, 2019 Share Posted October 24, 2019 i mean it's not like radio and television doesn't still also exist and the thing about podcasts and streaming video services is that you kind of have to go out of your way to access them, especially if you're a human person who spends most of their time outdoors or in a car maybe this is just me but it seems like a better idea to make a lot of the media content stuff that the player will probably stumble onto, you know? HikikomoriYume Posted October 25, 2019 Share Posted October 25, 2019 It is an interesting predicament, considering that tv and radio are mostly forgotten about now days, with the majority of people choosing to "stream" their music and watch video over on-demand services. It would be really awful in GTA VI to have to sit and go through a selection of music rather than entering a car and having something playing automatically, but it is true that radio hasn't really been relevant since the mid 00s (though lately I have been getting back into radio out of nostalgia). What they definitely should include is a youtube-like website for the GTA web that you an browse complete with playable video clips, and maybe for GTA Online you could have a profile and upload your gta online clips to it for the whole community to see. At some point R* is going to have to either create an alternate timeline or stick to the past, eventually self-driving cars will be the norm and human driving might be outlawed, or we might end up living in a totalitarian socialist technocracy where there is zero violence and everyone has been turned into a mindless drone trapped inside a megaopolis (agenda 2030). As far as radio, it will probably be handled mostly the same, unless they employ a subscription radio based service akin to SiriusXM, and you can pick which stations/genres you want. Unless they go to actual streaming music, and ditch the preset audio for the radio altogether. Very interested to see how they handle that.
