HaRdSTyLe_83
why do they release trailers that dont show the game, whatched most of them and i cant even say what type of game they are
Static
Probably because most of their games are 4X / RTS games where cinematics are often more appealing than actual gameplay and chances are if you play any Paradox games you already know what you're getting into, plus 95% of they announced are either sequels or content updates for exisiting games. But I really dont see that as being any different than any AAA games that are announced at say, E3 for example, where trailers are still more focused on pre-rendered cinematics. I'll be sure to add gameplay vids when I get time and whenever they're actually released. Candy_Licker
Thanks for the topic. The Stellaris diplomacy expansion was overdue. Maybe I'll give the game another shot then, the only thing that kept this game alive a bit was the modding scene. IT#s baffling that this huge gameplay hole get's fixed after 3 years! Curious about the Age Of Wonder expansion. The base game was neat, but it def. needs some upgrades in terms of AI/diplomacy too. Battletech would be interesting (I love Mech Games) but the base game was so terrible (especially in terms of performance/graphics) and bland I doubt a new expansion can change that. Not too fussed about CK III yet, I played CKII to death with all the expansions, not too excited to start all over with a barebones release product unless it offers radical changes. Imperator Rome also looked terrible and bland at release (and again, I love antiquity as a setting), so it's exactly like Battletech for me. Also, I only trust Paradox as far as I can throw nowadays. I think they've also sold their soul. Their lazy Stellaris mobile game (which got pulled off because they stole some Halo 4 screenshots) shows what kind of company they've become. (pretty certain they planned/still plan to get in the shady microtransaction business with this) Edited October 20, 2019 by Candy_Licker Static

Figured it'd be easier to have all the announcements in one place instead of 15 different topics. 3 hours ago, Candy_Licker said: The Stellaris diplomacy expansion was overdue. Definitely agree about the modding scene being the biggest draw, but even that wasn't enough to stop me from bouncing off of it once the went to warp-lanes only, but ill probably check it out again once Federations drop. Plus LITHOIDS, who doesn't wanna be giant, long-living rock space monsters? Was really diggin their ships designs too. 3 hours ago, Candy_Licker said: Curious about the Age Of Wonder expansion. I have yet to try this one out, mainly because like you said about how you felt about Imperator and Battletech, it looked somewhat bland, but the sci-fi setting did pique my interest somewhat. 3 hours ago, Candy_Licker said: Battletech would be interesting (I love Mech Games) but the base game was so terrible (especially in terms of performance/graphics) and bland I doubt a new expansion can change that. Yeah the performance issues, mainly the whole "more saves = longer load times" thing was a real bummer. I haven't touched since before the the DLCs starting dropping for it, but from what I heard/read Flashpoint really did flesh the game out a bit, Not sure about Urban Warfare though. I'll probably nab the season pass after Heavy Metal releases and once it gets a decent discount 3 hours ago, Candy_Licker said: Not too fussed about CK III yet, I played CKII to death with all the expansions, not too excited to start all over with a barebones release product unless it offers radical changes. I'm with you on that, I'm still about 7-8 DLCs behind myself for CKII and would like to "complete" it before moving on, even though i dont even play the game that much (I have a problem with dlc =/ ) 3 hours ago, Candy_Licker said: Imperator Rome also looked terrible and bland at release (and again, I love antiquity as a setting), so it's exactly like Battletech for me. Again, in the same boat. I was so hype just for the setting and then realize that it's kinda just a stripped down version of EU4. 3 hours ago, Candy_Licker said: Also, I only trust Paradox as far as I can throw nowadays. (pretty certain they planned/still plan to get in the shady microtransaction business with this) Yeah that mobile fiasco was something else between the stolen art and this "In a reply tweet, Paradox also addressed complaints that Stellaris: Galaxy Command is simply a reskin of GameBear's mobile strategy game Nova Empire, a complaint that arose when an error message shown to users who declined to grant the game required permissions referred to it as Nova Empire. "No denying that this is embarrassing but it's actually a placeholder text that was copied into our game during the early stage of development, before we had a name," Paradox explained" I can kinda understand people losing whatever trust they had in the company, but seeing how I'm not interested in mobile gaming in the first place, I wasn't too fussed about myself. I will say they do have other games coming out that I'm really excited for, but those are ones from their publishing arm, mainly Empire of Sin and Vampire:The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2. To be fair, they have been doing good as a publisher, bringing old gems back or niche games under small studios who would've never seen the light otherwise. Pesos
The Paradox lynching over Galaxy Command is hilariously absurd and just goes to show that people don't actually understand the situation. Contracting a Chinese studio to develop it was the mistake they made lol. Anyway, not particularly hype about the Stellaris expansion even though I've been wanting Federation mechanic to be fleshed out since launch. Feature wise it's been on a roll but the AI has been so god damn awful for probably a year now or more, so new features being good doesn't matter if the AI stays brain dead stupid. The AI mod is terrible too. Still waiting on the mod scene to pick up.. CK2 has always spoiled me in that regard hmm. Let me get that Vampire The Masquarade Bloodlines 2 thoo Static
rtie
CK3 first impressions for me aren't good. I have no plan to ever insta-buy Paradox games but I really enjoyed CK2. The black, brown, gold of the UI looks uninspired and a far fetch from the thematically encrusted interface and portraits CK2 used. It actually looks close to M&B:Blord's fugly UI. The skill tree has me worried, I'm not a fan of them usually and here it should not be a feature, I wouldn't say CK2's character progression was natural, maybe spontaneous but that's a lot more fun than being tied to an ordained path that skill trees offer. Pesos
Yeah, the character stuff and UI are looking a bit sh*te at the moment. Do like the map visuals though, what little I've seen anyway. Skill tree is weird too. rtie
