Combat Tips

Hello again everyone, okay, I need some help here.  What are some good combat tips- not weapon tips- I mean serious staying alive tips- because its horrible- I dont seem to get the idea of why Tommy keeps getting killed under 6 seconds of fire- what is it that Im doing wrong?  I mean, if he gets shot with a shot gun- its over... what am I doing wrong?  Is something up with how the combat system works?

Easy way: Use cheats

 

Hard way: Learn the city thuroly (yah spelling i know :I) so you can find weapons you need, places to hide or go that make it easier for you to stay alive or ready to fight, and practice your combat skills on a few Haitians or someones who can only hurt you but not bust your or HOPEfully not kill you before you run away

been visiting the army base a bit too much recently?  

thats really the only place where you are really under fire, well you could try getting 100% so you have 200 health and armour or

Thats the thing that keeps everyone alive?  Hmm... I thought I was doing something more wrong, like not moving, or not graspiong a perticular concept of not getting killed- Oh well, looks like thats just how the game is played- but seriously, do you guys think that the VC punching system is better than GTAIII?  I think the VC system sucks.

don't cheat...  is there a specific mission u are on that u keep getting killed on? because it's really not hard to walk around vice city and stay alive. and as i recall noone shoots u with shotguns unlike gta3 and the mafia. if it's a certain mission u need help on tell us, or better yet search, and u will get more help. if ur talking about staying alive while being shot at by the police, it really just takes practice. being in a car is obviously the most effective way of staying alive. also make sure u have armor all the time. maybe get to vigilante levl 12 and pizza lvl 10 so u have 150 hp and armor max. also make sure u tap the x button so tommy wont get tired if u need to run from the po niggas(unless u got to paramedic lvl 12). once u have killed someone quickly let go of R1 and press it again to change targets.. i dunno there's no real tricks to staying alive during a firefight that I can think of (other than cheating, but dont do that).

Okay, I knew I was about to get that flame of sucking in the game- well, its not a mission in particular- and how in the world can someone really suck in the game- I just wanted to know if anyone had any tips- like for instance, I found that if you continue to job towards the wall in a melee fight in the Malibu- then the guards will get jerked to the wall and this will give you a chance to shoot back WITHOUT having to take any hits- THATS what Im talking about, not cheating or anything....

when you have probs with combat on the mission or whatever use the thing that AI didnt got- BRAIN

find some tactical positions on roofs, behind cars

Try getting the armour and health by pizza and vigi missions.

Then, its a drag but (assuming you can) do the target practice, this does improve 1st person aim but also if you get 45 points you get no reload time. Then equip yourself with a spaz shotgun. This way even if there are 30 people infront of you, you hold down target and fire then quickly cycle forwards then backwards through targets, i guarantee they will die so fast you will not believe.

 

If you are so early in the game as you haven't bought malibu then i suggest that you use an ingram or a tec9 then run whilst shooting people or just a shotgun which will take people down pretty quick. It is fun just standing on a car, perhaps hitting it with a hammer or something to get the driver riled and cruising round aiming at people and blowing them away!

In most cases the auto aim and aim cycler buttons are invaluable. or you could get a chaingun and open up on anyone!

 

As they say however, never stray near the army base without being and staying in a copcar or in a cop uniform.

Try to stand behind a car or other waist height object, if you're out in the open go hide behind one, and then fire from there.  This makes them about half as likely to hit you, and you can also crouch down when they open up.  Think offense and defense.
