No. There aren't. There are no rumours. Only hopes and dreams, disguised as rumours. It's peoples desperation getting the better of them, that all logic and sensibility goes out the window.

I sent all the links here, now it's up to you to believe it or not.
I personally do not believe, but we are here to speculate and discuss, I try to bring all the information I find.

I heard a rumour Rockstar will announce GTA 6 in 2019, or 2020, or 2021, or 2022, or 2023. One of them has to be right, so I can't be wrong. So it's a real rumour. 🙄

That's why it's called a rumor, there's no real rumor, if it's real is no longer a rumor it's a fact.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you don't like rumors and speculation why are you here?

It makes little sense for R* to announce GTA6 so close to the holiday season if it isn't coming out right away (spoiler: it isn't coming out right away). Their message would get partly drowned out by all the marketing hype for games and products that actually are available to buy this Christmas.

Not really. They announce games 2 years before they release, anyway. When Rockstar make a major announcement, people are well aware. Having said that, They won't be announcing anything any time soon.

Thats why 12.12.2019 would be the perfect date for an announcement.

That makes zero sense. What's the logic there? 12.12.21? Because GTA 6 aint launching in December lol

Not really. The perfect time would be during a quiet month so that they're the only thing anybody online is talking about. Sure, a GTA announcement would trump any other game announcement, but they'd still be sharing the headlines with a bunch of other games when they don't need to.

No, it´s not implied. It makes less sense what you said. Do you think they will announce it in 2021 and release it in 2023? Will never ever happen. Way too long. V is probably in Beta Status now. The Development began 6 years ago. The release will be in 2021/22. Maybe if we are lucky November 2020.

Doesn't' really matter. The logic is sound, but the reality is different. GTA V was announced right as Battlefield 3, Call of Duty MW3 and Skyrim were releasing. RDR2 was announced during a similar period, with CoD & Battlefield 1, among other titles people might not think are a problem for Rockstar (I know, I was like that in 2011, thinking GTA would blow anything out of the water🤭) October/November is always a busy period.

With Xbox Scarlett devkits shipped to developers recently? And Lockhart disaster being still a thing, that developers complain about since at least half year? Keep dreaming.

I think we're more or less on the same page here. I agree that they always announce games a long time out. My point was more that it wouldn't make sense to make that early announcement during the season when every games company going is blowing its marketing budget on promoting things to buy right now.

People would still be aware of it if they announced it in December, for sure. But it would gain a lot more traction, a lot more bang for buck, if they put their first words out during a quiet month.

RDR2, for example, was announced in October 2016. Same month for GTA5, October 2011.

So I reckon it will be October 2020 when they go public with Six. (Or October 2021 if you believe in the mystical R* five-year cycle)

Yeah, but that's not quite the same as deliberately announcing your game on the same day that several other people are. From what I remember of GTA V there was at least a week gap between it's announcement and those other games released. The news cycle being what it is, you're always gonna get pushed aside within at least a week no matter what. So maybe not a quiet "month" but a quiet "week" is what I should have said.

Why is it too long? Because you feel so? It's not a good reason. Redemption 2, as an example, released 8 years later than Redemption. Extrapolating to the effort needed to develop a next-gen Grand Theft Auto game, it'd logically make sense to think that the gap between the new game and V will be longer than between Redemption 2 and its predecessor.

There is no official source for this claim, so it's another guess. But generally, yes, I believe that they have started very early pre-production following the release of V. Full development that goes way down to the bottom of the chain across all studios? Not until 2018, I think. 4-5 years of perfection and it'd be here no earlier than 2023.

I just don't think they need to do that in December. GTA V was announced in October and made a billion dollars in 3 days. The date at which they announce something won't mean jack sh*t, when two years later when they're releasing the game and you have GTA VI marketing everywhere you go. GTA is probably the biggest game on the planet. They don't need any 'quiet' periods. They just need to tweet #GTAVI and walk away. Besides, why change what works for them. October announcements didn't hurt GTA V or RDR2. Are people really gonna forget GTA VI is coming out, because a year or two prior, they announced the game during a 'busy' period?

I get the reasoning, but it just doesn't really impact Rockstar. It would affect a smaller studio/game. But not Rockstar.

3D Era Liberty City was good for it's time, but compared to Vice City or the SA cities it doesn't match up with New York well. Looking at the other four cities, you know which real world locations they're based on. LC in the 3D Era looks to more of a mishmash of NY, Pittsburgh and Chicago, not really consistent.

And there's no need to rush it out, this time. They can take that extra time and release a product that can be built to last 10~ years. GTA V has lasted 6 years, and counting. But it doesn't feel like it was made to last 6-8 years. At its core, it's a game that is fundamentally created for 2004/5 hardware.

Can't disagree, but I would add this:

By 2020 / 2021, GTA5 will be nearly 10 years old since the marketing started. It's still a monumentally popular game of course, but there will now be a whole new generation of gamers who are getting a bit 'meh' towards what they view as an ageing and somewhat cliched game. That's where the R* promotional budget is going to go for Six, not on the players like everyone here (including me) who would buy it without a second thought under any circumstances, but more the players who are just coming into the market and have yet to be won over. That, of course, also justifies keeping GTA5 DLCs going.

With no competitor product for Online, no wonder it has lasted, and will remain so for the next few years, despite being a game that was built on an ancient hardware. The community, that's built around it, will keep going as long as there's no other title which provides the same experience, that is, a modern-day crime simulator in an online space. I don't play it, and I don't care for it mainly because I don't like the whole V package, but a portion of the profits, that T2 will continue to gain from it, will be re-invested into VI, making it an even more grandiose product!

That's true in terms of it being a AAA crime simulator, and possibly the closest thing to an interactive film that was ever created up until then, but there have been competitors that have learned from GTAV.

Watchdogs, but Fortnite in particular are the two that spring to mind. Fortnite has taken a big chunk out of GTAonline and it has changed the way players interact. Yes, they are different in many ways but it's still slices of the same cake.

Watch Dogs is comparable to GTA V, maybe, but it's nothing like GTA Online. I've only ever played Fortnite briefly but I didn't really see any comparisons to GTA at all. It just felt like one of GTAO's many adversary modes on a bigger scale.

It might have taken some of GTA Online's playerbase, but probably not permanently. I'm guessing a lot of those people turn up again when there's a new update and that's probably where a lot of GTAO's money comes in anyway.

I've never really gotten into Watchdogs or Fortnight. WD2 went in the direction of open world online and they were clearly trying to emulate GTAO, but then again Ubisoft are to games as a Frogger is to helicopters. Basic and easy to find flaws. Their investors were assured that Ubi was "confident that it will break even."

Fortnite on the other hand is a different scale, it's huge. I just didn't feel any love for it (and in hindsight you can see how FN culture plus the OP MkII in GTAO was a vile combination) but I guess we would both see it from the perspective of GTAO first then Fortnite second. For a lot of newer gamers it's Fortnight first, a game millions of players are heavily invested in and that is agile at evolving and reacting, then the aged and quirky GTAO second.

So to bring this back to my original comments earlier, I think we will see a lot of R* promotion for GTA6 aimed not at the likes of us, but at the likes of players who have been swept up with other games that built on GTAO then took it off in different trajectories. And that promotion won't start this December.

I did like Alderney though

I felt like the liberty map from 4 was their best designed map its full of life and its tight full of elevations its like every street is a bit different, but alderney is boring as hell its wide and full of nothing, doesnt help that the story starts struggling right when you arrive at alderney.

Bully is like the third most asked about franchise from rockstar, its a very unique ip with a big following, its very different from gta and red dead which makes the game stand apart even if sales weren't astronomic.

RdR 2 owes alot to bully(and R* knows that given that red dead 2 has the nice bully easter egg when RDR 2 credit rolls)
