That's how it exactly works. A lot of game code is common across all platforms. That's why you don't see meaningful differences between console and PC versions of the same game.

Games have always been made on PC. You're missing my point entirely. 

 

Just like BGS didn't have the technology to do what they want to do with TES6 Rockstar may not have the technology to do GTA VI until next gen consoles release.

Just like BGS, they wanted to do fallout 76 and Starfield before TES6, Rockstar wanted to do RDR2 (which took 5+years) before GTA VI.

 

I'm saying there's a reason why we never got GTA VI from Rockstar within 5 years of GTA V. Those reasons being they went all in on RDR2 and spent five years after GTA V focusing on that game, as opposed to a near annual game between 2008 - 2013 , and they may not have had the technology to do what they wanted with GTA VI. For example the much improved CPU's, and SSD might be essential for what they want to do. It isn't always about resolutions and high res textures. Advanced AI, the next evolution of Rockstars living and breathing world, streaming assets fast enough relying on an SSD, etc...

 

Of course meetings, discussions, and general ideas can be developed very early on. We already know they were happening in 2012. But that document was quite old when it leaked, and things can change a lot. And they likely did change. Fact of the matter is, it's been  6 Years, 6 Months & 4 Days since GTA V released, and we still have no announcement. That should be evidence enough that things are different now.

 

I'm sure GTA VI has been under development since around 2017, but with Rockstar being all hands on deck for RDR2, it's hard to imagine them making huge progress. Especially since they got next gen devkits 6 months after RDR2 launched. Just look at the timeline between GTA V & RDR2. One game in 5 years. It's shaping up to be somewhat similar.

It's not like they didn't have technology, it wasn't simply common enough on the market (and still isn't). SSDs are a thing since 10 years at least, they were just pretty expensive. 8 core CPUs? They are also on the market since many years. GTA VI announcement is coming and once Rockstar will release trailer you'll see, that it doesn't look like something in early development stages (let me remind you, that Rockstar announced GTA V after 3.5 years since GTA IV release and it did look very early so with GTA VI being much bigger game it should look very, very early. These days if you want to release such big game in ~3 years it can't be in early development stages at this point. Take a look at RDR 2 Trailer #1. Does it look like something in early development stages?

Even without it we're still screwed since it will probably delay most of the game advancement

This time he even gave people one solid date, 25th March and a numerous hints about GTA VI setting and eras. What more he can do to prove his credibility? All you need to do is just wait.

Everyone can sound credible and get lucky. Regardless whether you call BS or not I agree tho. Let's wait and see. Personally I am not getting my hopes up though.

     I haven’t been here that long, all I gotta say is ever since I opened this thread it’s all been about gonna(e).  Got my hopes up for a little bit.. then I didn’t believe him at all after the whole “announcement at 4pm”ordeal.  Then I started to believe him once again after he PM me saying god hates non-believers... (y’all know the rest) and for some reason that made me believe something is going to happen by the 25th. 
 

     If nothing does happen, I do believe he will keep it going and some how hint another date to keep his loyal defenders and the people that simply forgot.  I know if nothing happens... he will not be banned or have any repercussions whatsoever because the mods/admins/staff know something we don’t or just absolutely love this guy for some reason. I can’t wait for the 25th.

I agree with your post but we need to reiterate that gonna(e / aliassmithandjones / the prophet or whatever you guys keep calling him has NEVER directly said March 25th or even hinted at it. It's very important to remember that the only connection he has with March 25th is referencing a movie that came out on that date and quoting someone who suggested March 25th. 
 

The March 25th rumor comes from 4CHAN, not gtaforums. I don't understand how people can't grasp that.

Loyalty and a good understanding that leaks are the end of your career in video games. (And for many Rockstar North employees, Rockstar is their very first employer). This is all speculation but I'm sure Rockstar has seminars/meetings about leaks all the time and does everything they can to not only stop them, but not make their employees want to create them in the first place. IIRC members of R* North on Twitter said they don't even disclose info to their spouses/immediate family.

There were absolutely random dates on /v/. I saw two threads about it yesterday. One said that something will be announced at GMT 4 pm yesterday.

No, you're repeatedly missing the point. It doesn't matter how common that technology is, or how long they've been around. NO CONSOLE has an SSD. And that's just one component. If the consoles people have at that moment in time don't have the technology, they can't do what they want to do. So they wait. It's not a point you can even argue, sing BGS said it themselves.

You don't need to remind me. I know it full well. In fact it goes against your own argument. GTA V was announced 3 and a half years after GTA V. Yet GTA VI will be announced at least 6 and a half years after GTA V. The gap is getting larger, the wait is getting larger. Where Rockstar were able to release games almost every year, now they release one every 5.

 

At this point, I don't even know what the 'argument' is anymore. I only stepped in to answer somebody's question as to why we've waited over 6 years. All this is becoming beside the point.

LOL, he literally commented "the Very circle Is CompletE" on someone mentioning the 25th, that's basically equivalent to him mentioning a movie released on this date.

     Also, he was the only reason I even started looking at this thread and I think that might be the case for a lot of people.  If he loses his credibility on the 25th/26th, that will slow some traffic on this thread guaranteed. That’s also why he won’t be banned or held responsible at all for spreading something fake, he will somehow become the good guy again. Thats if it’s fake.
