Most likely new consoles will be out by then... Imagine Rockstar not releasing a new GTA game within two console generations!

If Rockstar does not update their profile picture within the next 24-hours people will be grasping all straws on hopes of an announcement for the 25th, and if not...

I doubt they will stick to those dates as they have been out there for a while. Nor will they probably follow RDR2's announcement tactic in 2016.

Yeah... I think you have A LOT to learn, mate. How long have you been gaming? I mean no offence, but I get the impression you're either pretty young, or just not very knowledgeable. We all start somewhere.

And you can't compare other games, from different studios, developers or publishers. Apples and Oranges.

 

Also, Skyrim was announced at the Game Awards, in December 2010.

L.A. Noire was first announced, somewhere around 2005. But that game had a notoriously long and somewhat troubled development. It's first trailer was 2007, but the first real trailer with gameplay was November 2010

You're basing your belief that everything looked ready to go based on what they showed you, which was a tiny fraction of the whole  game.

 

When developers show a game off before launch whether that's in trailers or demos or whatever, they show off the best aka the most finished parts. These are often called a vertical slice.

Well I was only off on the Skyrim announcement by 2 months so my point still stands there, it was after all a massive open-world AAA game. And for L.A Noire (official reveal) was 11th November 2011 (as you mentioned above) I was not referring to the pre-alpha footage from a few years earlier.

 

I know games take a long time to develop and run into unexpected walls which requires many months of extra hard work from devs, but I was still comparing official previous announcements to release dates of games from 2011. Skyrim was still announced within 12-months of the reveal.

 

Also been gaming since I was around 2 years-old.

Guys, did Rockstar show some kind of footage or confirmed RDR2 time before they dropped the trailer? 

 

Do you think it's impossible to Rockstar break the 2 years rule in order to do like did with GTA V, try to make money in both generations?

Yeah, but that doesn't mean anything. Fallout 4 released 5 months after announcement, yet it released 4 years after Skyrim. The fact that you thought GTA V would release within 2 months of it's announcement is staggering. Again, Apples and Oranges. Comparing Rockstar Game to BGS is a terrible comparison. Just because they both make open world games doesn't really mean anything. 

Apex Legends was released within days of its announcement. Cyberpunk has taken almost 7 years since it's announcement, TLoU Part II has taken 3 and a half years, etc... Every game is different. It doesn't matter if it looks ready. What it looks like is irrelevant, since you only see what they allow you to see.

I did not say this, I assumed the game would be released within 12-months after it's announcement not 2.

 

Also I am still comparing games back from 2011, you are mentioning Cyberpunk, TLOU II, Apex Legends and others. These were all announced and released after 2011.
