because new generation is on the way, and 2 years from now, no one will buy VI on PS4? Because 2 years from now PS5 and XSX will have 150 million consoles? And because they already have GTA Online and Red Dead Online on current gens?

This wont be a problem: if their next game will be next-gen only, it will hugely boost the sales of the next consoles (I mean, it will force people to buy them right?).

This just in Rockstar are now developing GTA VI with the PS2 as the primary console to get that 150+ million install base.

Rockstar has been known to have insane crunch for a long time - as do many AAA studios. Recently however, specifically around the launch of RDR2, they were widely criticised for the companies policy on crunch after comments made by Dan Houser. Since then it's been reported that Rockstar have been working on improving their policy on crunch so it's very possible that the rise in the review scores again is not just because they are inbetween hard crunching but also because their policy on it in general has improved.

The game industry in 2020 is very different from the industry in 2013. The days when the first month of a game being on sale is where the vast majority of copies are purchased are long gone. Sure, GTA VI would be unlikely to break 3 day and first week sales records like GTA V did if it launched in the first few years of the PS5/SeriesX but long term, coupled with microtransaction money, it's very possible and very realistic that the game would be no less profitable.

 

Something like GTA VI would be considered as a service based game by Rockstar/Take-Two. These games are not being made with short term profits in mind but rather long term.

I think it will double break the records from GTA 5, GTA 5 is where millions of new people who have never played the previous games came in and now they've become even more after GTA 5's release waiting for GTA 6 eager to buy it the first minute it comes, i'm certainly one of those people. So yeah.

Im feeling we wont get sh*t unless PS5 allows Rockstar to record the GTA 6 trailer with PS5 master console power and since it very likely they do got a exclusive with Sony since Xbox dont got no exclusives.

Rip 3/25 , PS5 in Quarantine and so is Rockstar Games.

That's not how it works, they can just record it on the presskit they're using to test the game on

Yeah, I brought this up a while ago. This is just a small example, but it helps show the point. The entire gaming landscape is just different. But there are more people playing games now, than 7 years ago.

I still expect a 2023 release for GTA VI. But I'm less convinced that Rockstar will want to wait for an install base to grow to a big enough size. And Rockstar surely know it's going to be tough to beat GTA V's day 1 sales. $1BN in 2 days is going to be extremely difficult to beat. They won't wait, just so they can beat that. But they'll certainly stand a chance of matching lifetime sales, if GTA VI is anything like GTA V.
