Let’s be real. It’s 2020. Have you taken a ride on public transit? Everybody is on their phones no matter where they are.

You could also quote my post prior that one where I'm writing about other side of Corona too.

You also should know that in today's world of media, it's not about how it really is but about how it looks alike/how media say it is.

EDIT:I thought that you quoted me there, sorry. But that person you actually quote was referring on my words, so I thought it was my post. My mistake sorry.

@jon dohnson current president of USA is best thing that happend to USA since...I dont know when. But that's off topic now.

1)R* is not any company, when R* make a move New York Times is writing about that move. So big reputation in business world. R* is beyond gaming. Big reputation big responsibility.

2)When you are going to be heard the most? When there is a silence. Rockstar is marketing its products through media and currently all media are far from quiet.

3)Thing that gonae or mods can't tell you, bc you would put them on bonfire is that they did not expected this thing with Coronavirus

4)I hope we all laugh to my post very soon, but I doubt.

Agree with 1. Not 2. Media is never silent something new is always happening but r* is a big enough company to over shadow anything that popular in media... But i do agree with you on the carona. Cant picture a news anchor reporting " 150 ppl just died this evening... Next up r* just announced gta6" just cant see it happening.

Maybe this give some of you a better picture, of what really is going on. It´s a good thing for the world. You will see.

Your president called it "The Calm before the Storm" three years ago and now the Storm is here. Are you aware of that?

I´m from Germany and we have many criminals in our goverment and beyond, but i can assure you from here, that you have the best leader in the world since J.F.K!

I was pointing out what would be perfect. Ofcourse there's no silence in today's media, but they are aiming to announce something as closer to silence as possible. That's why you won't see gta6 announcement close to cyberpunk 2077 release. Those 2 events would harm each other if they are close one to another.

Harm? GTA VI? Nothing can harm GTA VI. It's most awaited game on this planet. CP 2077 is not even close.

Also don't forget that you need a whole ecosystem of other sectors to launch something as big as GTA6. As big as R* is, they operate in a network and everything is going to be disrupted.

Above all, absolutely everything depends on when next gen consoles get onto the market. There's unfortunately some uncertainty about that. So why would they take all those risks right now?

Consoles will be fine. I read about shortage concerns at Sony (info comes from credible people) but nothing so far point to delaying launch.

Factually not true. To give an example, GTA V was announced a little over a week before Call of Duty MW3, which broke sales records at the time.

The games industry is and has been for a long time a very loud industry. There's always big games being announced, fully revealed or released. There's no perfect time to announcing something. RDR2's announcement date was the same time that the Nintendo Switch was revealed if memory serves. I imagine Rockstar had no way of knowing that, just like they have no way of knowing that if the date they pick to reveal their next game is gonna have other big news on the same day.

The reality is that you just have to pick a date and go with it and history has told us that announcements don't really get drowned out even if there's multiple big announcements that day. People can of course read two separate news items about video games in one day, or watch two trailers.

They announced GTA V on BF3 release day. If anything was harmed it was Battlefield 3.

Even then, why would it? One is a new game release, one is a game announcement. No one is suddenly like "welp I aint buying BF3 now cause GTA V has been announced for next year".

Two games releasing on the same day or in the same week is another thing entirely mind you. That can get hairy but generally speaking if they are spread out enough over a 1-2 month period games do fine. Case in point, Fall every single year for the past God knows how many. Big games all clump up and release around there every year and do fine.

To loosely quote ol' Strauss Zelnick, if the quality is there people buy it.

@Jason

Call Of Duty and GTA are different type of games. While CP2077 and GTA have staff in common..most important one is open world.

Also currently most anticipated release in gaming is cyberpunk. GTA is still in category of most anticipated game announcement.

Just to be clear I'm gta fanboy. Gta is only game that i will play in the future, or some other R* game that gets released in future.

To be fair, and I don't want to once again stray wildly off topic, it looks like most of the stock market picked up a little today. I don't think that necessarily reflects good news per se, more that the general crash of the last few days was perhaps a little of an over-reaction.

Oddly, T2's stock has jumped nearly 10% today. That's really strange, especially right now...

Hard to read into anything stock related right now due to the coronavirus. Even then, if stock rose because of an impending GTA VI announcement that would be insider trading to my knowledge lol, if that's what you're trying to imply.

The jump might be explained by the NPD monthly game sales report that released today. GTA VI and NBA 2k20 are sitting 2nd and 3rd with RDR2 also making the top 20. Good showing from Take-Two basically.

Different genres, not entirely different audiences. There's a lot of crossover there. It would have zero impact on either game. Zero.

I'm going off topic, but man... Cyberpunk having a first person view and Deus Ex-like gameplay is one of the most disappointing gaming revelations ever to me, a total deal breaker. I had been waiting for this game since the very first trailer in 2012, but now, couldn't care less about it.

First person sucks yeah but...I'm still getting it.

dude, even a fictional universe wouldn't put LC and VC next to each other, just get over it, it's not happening.  America exists in R*'s universe, just because it isn't on the maps in their games doesn't mean it doesn't exist, they aren't going to make that stupid fan map that has all their cities on it.  and this is the last I will comment on it

Ehhh I think you got it wrong, mate:

"Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas,” Benzies said. “In that context re-imagining Vice City would be very interesting.”

Also:

"Of course you could do a game with a bunch of cities now that could be pretty interesting, but we didn't think that was going to be this game..." (GTAV)

Having all the cities in one map is probably gonna be their magnum opus. LC, VC, LS, LV, SF and 2/5 are complete already.

It took them something like 3.5 yrs to finish IV, and something like 4 to finish V.

2 maps in about 8 yrs or so... sh*t, 2 GAMES in about 8 yrs or so. And while I'm not sure how many people worked on V, I know it was only about a 1000 working on IV.

They are so much f*cking bigger, and more funded now. Just look at V sales, and the amount of money GTAO is rolling in... They have a tonne more staff now too.

If tradition holds up, in some form or another, they probably got started on VI a few months after V released. They could already be 6yrs into the project for all we know, and what if they still got a few years left?

...Seems like enough time and resources to get 3 more cites complete, and stitch em' all together. (They literally stitched some of Redemption's map into RDR2 too don't forget) besides, if map making was that difficult and expensive, I doubt they'd have put so much work into North Yankton for just a mission or 2...

V's map is the perfect size for 1 city and it's countryside or "backyard". Use the same scale for the other cities and you'd really only need a map about 5x bigger than V to fit everything comfortably.

The only limiting factor right now I'd say, would be if the next generation of consoles can handle something like that. Personally, I think it could be possible...

So I think the entire East Coast with only 2 major cities, and maybe being 2-3x bigger than V is ABSOLUTELY possible. Especially if they're reusing LC.

Your point about them not wanting to do a cold east coast city so close to a more tropical one doesn't even hold up. RDR2 map roughly stretches from South Dakota to Mexico... Actually, just take a look at this:

https://imgur.com/a/18mrquW

It's not weird in RDR, so I doubt it'd be any more weird in a much larger GTA.

An East Coast map is 100% possible, but that's just like my opinion I guess.

Just think of it this way. Do you really believe that 1 or 2 years later, when the game releases. Nobody or less people will buy it, because it was announced close to another game? The logic just doesn't really hold.

Yep. I don't know why it happens but people often read far too much into "oh they aren't going to announce it on X date cause X is happening...". There's always something happening in the world, in the entertainment industry, in the game industry. There's only 365 days in a year but thousands and thousands and thousands of announcement that are made every year in the games industry alone. Gotta share the limelight with someone.

They're gradually ramping up production and re-opening supply lines. The big question is: will this re-start transmission of the virus? I really hope not. If it does, it's bad news for next-gen (and more importantly a human tragedy repeated).

Fun boys will choose theirs favourite no matter what. But fanboys are not concern of any company. Concern of every company is guy that they have to convince to buy their game. The guy who watch YT video "Upcoming open world games of 2020" The guy called "casual gamer" And a majority of any playerbase are casual gamers.

Yea. The whole world is in unexplored waters basically. We're living in some actual interesting times right now. The whole world is going to learn a lot from how this all plays out.

Casual gamers aren't dumb. They know who makes GTA, who makes each individual Call of Duty, who makes Fortnite, who makes Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk, etc etc etc. People follow developers as much as they follow franchises these days, if not more so. The rise of YouTube, Twitter, reddit, Twitch, etc really made a lot of the stereotypes about casual gamers no longer relevant.

My point is, that thing R* did with rdr2 announcement when they just updated logo, in black and red collors, that thing would not be as powerful now (corona) or September(CP2077) as it would be when the air is more clear.

Again, for fanboys it would, for casuals no.

Ok tell me then differences between casuals and fun boys.

I dont think casuals are dump just to be clear.

Me personally have at least 3 friends who play games once in 10 days. And some of these friends sometime say to me OH I ALMOST FORGOT DIDI YOU SEE? THEY RELEASED TRAILER FOR GTA 6(situation from 4 months ago) they simply have other interests like football but they like to play games here and there so they buy.
