It's not like GTA characters have ever been all that "well developed" though. You know pretty much everything about them in the first hour and they change very little, if at all, by the time the game is over. I think there was actually more internal character progression in V's three characters than in any of the other mainline characters.

GTA 6, in a nutshell...

Border patrol. Wall. Florida. Waiting for Trumps term to end? Gee I wonder why. MS13 reference, which is the largest gang in the United States right now. Crooked police force dispensing genocide of “illegals” behind closed doors and out of media attention. And loads of funding being spent to “protect the ideals of the American Dream Aka control the pharmaceutical industry we know today as recreational drug use that’s slowly becoming legal by day and shoving the once thriving drug market to the backseat to prescription drugs that enhance serotonin.” 
It’s about f*ckery from angles that are beyond normal perception. There is a message that Rockstar is sending. The lessons to be learned from the experience. Not just a game. It’s a modern day DaVinci in the form of digital entertainment. Its seeing from the outside in what we cannot. Vice City is the last stop. It’s the end. A shadow of its former self starving to be what it once was but will never live up to the way it was before entirely because it was a place in time. A future of entitled believes it’s their time to live up to what was merely, the only options they had to take so they took them because it’s all they had to survive. I will elaborate....

This is the ideal of gangster now. It’s trying to live up to what it once truly was and what it once was, was the only way many knew how but now, now it’s a choice. But the real is the foreign struggle with balance between legality, and the dream that many only have heard of from legend of mouth, or growing up watching American movies about Dillinger, and Bonnie and Clyde. They are the threat, but at the same time they are living the option they were conditioned to believe is real, and had no real family values because family values is searching the values outside of the corruption that they only know and feel a void for something more. This my people, is GTA 6.

Some movies definetly feel like gta,there was a robert pattinson movie where hes chased around town and one of the inspirations were the 5 stars wanted level of gta

Yeah, well. I'd prefer Grand Theft Auto VI to be based on Scarface, than this. 

 

Anyways, I still hope Grand Theft Auto VI will be set in 1980's Liberty City.

I would be very disappointed that gta 6 was only in the 80s, I prefer it to be now, just imagine gta 6 with the graphics of the new generation and in 2020, it would be impressive.
It gives you more freedom to base the game on the present.
gta 6 must be in the present.

Yeah, but you can say the exact same thing about the past.

Why would I want GTA 6 to be set in the present? To drive a slightly redesigned Toyota Corolla 2020 as opposed to driving a 2019 model? Those marginally different looking headlights - just imagine the possibilities of driving a car that looks 0,009% different from what's in GTA V. Can't wait

It's been 13 years since we last had a GTA not set in a modern setting. Even if GTA VI is set in the modern days I'll still play it but I'd be slightly disappointed.

Some time ago I saw the news that D. Trump ends his term on January 21, 2021, now I have seen that the elections are on November 3, 2020, coincides with the rumor of gta 6 and ps5, every time I see this Rumor, I see it as possible.

I would love the next GTA to be a period piece, but I personaly don’t think they’re gonna go and do that. If you look at GTA Vice City and San Andreas and when they were new games, the people who played them were mostly people who experienced the 80’s and 90’s and understood the satire and references from those decades. How well known are those times today? I don’t know, I hope I’m wrong though.

 

But what makes me think most that it’s going to be set in current times is that all that content they made for GTA Online, they are probably gonna want to use a lot of those vehicles again.

 

Exept the MKII, keep that fcking thing in the past lol

Donald Trump's presidency has no effect on the release date of the next GTA whatsoever. Also he might get reelected.

Saying that GTA6 will be delayed because of Trump is just as bold as saying that it can't be in the 80's because of Online Mode: Rockstar will release a great game, no matter what.

It's not like they'd have more freedom for unique car designs if the game is set in the past. It's actually the opposite. All the retro and vintage cars that are already in V would look exactly the same no matter when the game is set. 

 

Using your Toyota Corolla example, a 2019 or 2020 version would actually be something new for GTA. A game set in the 80s would just give us the exact same Futo model we got in IV and V. 

 

With a modern GTA you'd potentially be able to drive any car they've ever made plus new ones. Basically, they'd be able to make retro versions of all the modern cars they've got and modern versions of all the retros they've got. More variety, not less.
