Yes, that's a lot of work and at the same time, something so insane, that only Rockstar would want and could pull off.

yep but if rdr2 was 2 disc game, then how many discs would gta with multiple decades and cities have. All the different npc's, cars, small details in city, new buildings, old buildings, clothes, radio channels, voice acting for npc's etc etc so many things, would need to be different for each decade. Thats ridiculous amount of files.

I dont really see it happen, but who knows maybe its possible.

Mountains are overrated. They are nice to watch, but they are boring with the time. If you play a game for a longer time, it´s important to make a dense and detailed city with lots of tactical fights against the police and gangs. Where you can do all kind of things.

Meh, I don't think a more dense and detailed map is really going to make GTA gunfights any better or tactical. That's going to require decent enemy A.I. and better character movement. I'd rather have a more diverse playground to drive in than more things to hide behind while enemies mindlessly swarm.

Regarding PS5's SSD

https://www.wired.com/story/exclusive-playstation-5/

Quote

It’s not just the speed that makes the SSD formidable, he says, but the efficiency it offers. Think about the hard drive in a game console, spinning like a 5,400-rpm vinyl record. For the console to read a piece of information off the drive, it first has to send out the disk head—like a turntable needle—to find it. Each “seek,” as it’s known, may entail only a scant handful of milliseconds, but seeks add up. To minimize them, developers will often duplicate certain game assets in order to form contiguous data blocks, which the drive can read faster. We’re talking common stuff here: lampposts, anonymous passersby.

But data adds up too. "If you look at a game like Marvel's Spider-Man," Cerny says, "there are some pieces of data duplicated 400 times on the hard drive." The SSD sweeps away the need for all that duping—so not only is its raw read speed dramatically faster than a hard drive, but it saves crucial space. How developers will take advantage of that space will likely differ; some may opt to build a larger or more detailed game world, others may be content to shrink the size of the games or patches. Either way, physical games for the PS5 will use 100-GB optical disks, inserted into an optical drive that doubles as a 4K Blu-ray player.

The buttons will still have the same names. Why change L2 & R2?

EDIT: For those unaware, the adaptive triggers are the same triggers. They just have new features in them. Not new buttons.

Umm no..there are two new buttons on the underside of the DualShock 5 beneath the trigger where our middle and ring fingers rest up the foregrip

I was talking about the adaptive triggers. Those buttons aren't the adaptive triggers.

It´s what my post implied. But In your case GTA is the wrong game for you. The recommended game for you is Just Cause 4. One of the worst open world games ever made.

More enterable Houses and a much more sophisticated AI should be the priority in GTA 6 and not Mountains and an endless and empty ocean.

I would rather have a dense and detailed town, than a endless and empty or "diverse" map. You have to fill it up or it will end up like the Just Cause crap.

Poor choice of words and reference on my part, I meant the new buttons on the underside of the controller.

Yeah, it's weird. They just released the new DS4 attachment that has buttons on the back. The first DS5 patent we saw looked nothing like this, so I'm not sure if this is what every DS5 will look like, perhaps Sony's version of an Elite controller or something else?

if you expect that GTA 6 is gonna take place in an island-city type of setting then you'll be disappointed. those days are not coming back and mountains/contryside/rural areas are here to stay

I can´t be dissapointed, because i expect nothing special, and i know in respect of V, that GTA 6 will be a well balanced game, which will have all of it.:)

I may create a topic here, get a job and Rockstar and fulfill it.

Like hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, npc crime sprees and a constant war-zone area for the hardcore.

nothing against  mountains, but it should not waste 1/4 of the map like in GTA5. its literally nothing there.

The mountains of Grand Theft Auto 5 were lackluster and didn't resemble actual mountain ranges. 'Literally nothing is there' can be called for basically any rural region, whether it's a mountain, valley, desert or a swamp. Mountain ranges can be full of things to explore and entertain yourself with, such as skiing, snowmobiling and vacationing in high-elevation resorts, but also the presence of them alone add verticality to the playground and isolate different biomes, which help to create a sense of a massive landscape. The views and scenery are also a thing to admire the mountains for, whether you were driving below or flying a plane over.

exactly, it could be full of things, but it isnt.

no animals (online), no encounter, no caves, no rivers or waterfalls, nothing....

dont get me wrong, I like being in the nature, but nature is living and not a dead big rock.

We can only assume that it was all due to hardware limitations. This game was designed to run on a 2006 hardware. I think it's safe to assume that R* will populate the map a lot more this time around

1. PS5/XSX will use 100GB discs, not 50GB.

2. Next-gen games will use better compression

3. Who cares about number of discs? You need to install game only once, not everytime you play it.

And that's what I said, the mountains of Grand Theft Auto 5 were lackluster. Redemption 2 had a more realistic representation of some mountain ranges, such as the Grizzlies which is interesting to explore and venture into as any other part of the map. With the experience of Red Dead, and better hardware (new consoles), Grand Theft Auto 6 has the potential to have a very massive map with proper mountain ranges that are full of life, things to explore and interact with. One may suggest that with the implementation of a high-speed SSD solution into the next-gen consoles, traveling speed by a car or an aircraft wouldn't be intentionally throttled to maintain an acceptable frame rate and rendering distance, so now creating a map that's truly massive wouldn't be an issue in terms of saving traveling times.

360 launched in 2005, PS3 was delayed and console hardware is usually from a year or so before that... So GTA V is built to run on 2004/5 hardware. Yikes.

GTA V is perfect example why no one shouldn't release his game on outdated hardware for the sake of making  a little more money. Nonetheless, I'm still surprised that it was working on those consoles with 512 MB of memory. I had 8GB of RAM back then + 2 GB of VRAM on my GPU.

That's PS3 and XBox 360 fault. Seeing that, i don't understand why some people want to see GTA VI on PS4 and XBox One...

The primary part of it was indeed due to limitations imposed by an ancient hardware, which fortunately won't be the case with the next installment of the open-world, crime-themed franchise!

Wanting to see Grand Theft Auto 6 for the current consoles? Maybe because...

1. Too desperate for wanting it to release early.

2. New hardware cost. Not everyone will be able to afford a PS5 or an XSX with ease. However, I'd argue that by the time the game releases, new consoles will have already seen price reduction, with probably a Pro/enhanced model for both consoles 3-4 years into the new generation. Similar to Redemption 2, VI will utilize the extra power of the enhanced models. Take the X1X version of the Western-themed title as an example.

well, we don't can't edit .RPFS files, we can't add models neither can we replace them so for now there's no way apart from scripts or reshades to mod RDR2.

Wouldn’t it be better if R* released the game on PC first or at least used it as the foundation for development.

Sure console graphics might take a hit but even then wouldn’t it ensure the level of quality that we all are envisioning. And this is coming from a console player, Just a thought.

I would already be satisfied just if for a change they decided to start releasing their games simultaneously on PC and consoles, especially if we consider that (barring some japanese devs that are relatively new to the platform) only Rockstar still delays PC releases.

how about

Spoiler

X1Lm21O.png

would be a real pain to wait as a consol player for a year it to come and everything would be allready spoiled from the story,,,,,

wait,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,like to the pc players with previous games haha

But seriously, they should just release it  for both pc and consoles at the same time

R* had no limitation on PC (their main problem is the optimization on that support). But with the consoles, they had a lot of limitations, that’s why their games come first on console, they focus to release a game taking full of capacities of each console then they improve the PC version.
