UPDATE! PRE-ORDER IS NOW AVAILABLE IN DENMARK AND CHILE! 😃

dudesitshere.JPG

Rockstar, or rather Take-Two I guess, seem to have excluded certain regions from using the Rockstar Games Launcher store, due to a bug, or undisclosed legal reasons...

These countries/regions so far include (unconfirmed, incomplete list at this point):

  • DENMARK FIXED
  • CHILE FIXED
  • ISLE OF MAN
  • CAMBODIA
  • BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA FIXED
  • AZERBAIJAN
  • COLOMBIA
  • MYANMAR
  • NORTH MACEDONIA FIXED
  • SAUDI ARABIA
  • UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
  • ARMENIA
  • BANGLADESH
  • TUNISIA FIXED
  • PALESTINE
  • CARIBBEAN
  • ALBANIA FIXED
  • MOROCCO FIXED

I suggest that anyone who don't have the "STORE"-button in the Rockstar Games Launcher post below and let us know where you're located, and then submit a ticket at https://support.rockstargames.com/

I've been hearing this complaint from Denmark people. Try using VPN and connect to India or US or other regions.

Nah. If they don't want to sell their product to me, I don't really want to buy it. Kidding, I would actually love to, but the right way, if you know what I mean.

Yeah haha. You got me there with the first line. Well for now, there is no other option as it looks like it's region locked and you need to wait for Rockstar to do something. Maybe Denmark has some laws that is preventing it from release?

Nope, nothing on our end. We've never banned anything - ever. You can legally drink alcohol as a toddler, you can legally have sex from the age of 15, we were the first to legalize pr0n, and there are no regulations on violence in movies or games.

It can only be some sort of mishap on Rockstar's end - now we just need them to admit it, and fix it... before the 22nd. 🤔

Yay, got the expected response from support...

Rockstar sometimes act different.

They also ban online casino games because of our laws in Czech Republic.Funny thing is that this law can be interpreted differently and nothing will happen to R*. They choose easy way out...

That makes little sense to me, but then again - I'm not very smart at all. This is 2019... I very much doubt that anyone would have any logical or legal reason to not make their store available in any European country. For now I'll just assume that it's a technical issue, that Rockstar has to resolve (despite support saying otherwise).

any European country.

That's not factually true. I see the store option in the launcher myself.

I'm not stating facts, but merely trying to paint a picture of how ludicrous all this is. Where are you from?

These are (some of) the countries that don't have access to the store for one reason or another:

  • Denmark
  • Isle of Man
  • Cambodia
  • Peru
  • Bosnia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Argentina
  • Chile
  • Colombia

Maybe that was VPN issue then but pretty sure at least 2 of these countries had no store button.

That's interesting. Could be unrelated to this particular issue, then - as you can see the store.

That's pretty messed up. Some really big names on that list. Is there any way they can sort this, or is it something legal that can't be solved?

At the very least, there's still Steam in December. But still...

Pretty sure that's a technical issue then, as I've seen some people from the UK in here getting those errors as well. This regional issue is a totally different beast...

Yeah  i guess its a currency issue or they simply didnt add all the currencies specificly for RDR2? no idea really i just got tired of trying to fix this and dont wanna use a vpn at all just in case.   + there is a lot of people who got charged 2 or 3 times while pre ordering the game in the launcher.

Maybe for you, but many laws in Czech republic can be interpreted differently.

Some says is OK to offer gamble games throught GTA:Online, some says is violating of law because you can gamble with real money .In that case R* needs to obtain state license for gamble games.

Rockstar choose option B...

But I'm guessing you were able to purchase RDR2 for other platforms when it was first released? So there should be no reason to limit the distribution of the PC version in any markets where the console versions were sold. And I don't think it will be limited - except for the Rockstar Games Launcher store, which indicates that they (Take-Two) have misinterpreted some laws, or that there's something else that prevents them from making the store available in some regions.

Yes Im able luckily, but this situation is pretty bad for you.

It will be fun If you can order RDR2 through steam without problems.

It seems like rockstar badly misunderstand local laws...

I'm sure it'll be available through Steam just fine, and even the EPIC Games Store on the 5th - they just don't offer the pre-order bonuses that Rockstar does, that's the hurdle. I guess we'll just have to accept that Rockstar don't want to do business in our countries, for one reason or another. I'll have to assume that they would if they could, though... Buying through EPIC or Steam would cut their earnings by a substantial amount as opposed to purchases made on their own platform.

United Arab Emirates is also banned. Saudi Arabia also. I used VPN to bypass it and bought it hopefully it don't get removed.

Also when I opened the VPN then got in the store and disabled it, the currency changed from US dollars to United Arab Emirates Dirhams and the prices got lower too. There are stores for these banned countries, they just don't want to enable it and I dunno why.

It seems i maded to this forum (SteffenF) 😉

Well just an fun update in my search for the game.. I tried visiting the german site some other countries inside EU. And got this in the DE store when trying to order:

d6b01afbeee611f532923b9f1c65e871.png

Seems to be some sort of passport control more advanced and effective than the one Denmark has today at their borders, so thumbs up for that to R*.

Anyway, I decided to keep trying, so I ended up with VPN to Sweden, and were able to fullfill my purchase, and logged off the VPN. The games are still in my library and I got a confirmation on mail. Everything seems to be OK, which then seems to raise another big question.. How come citizen in Denmark can't buy from their own computers but can drive to Sweden, buy and even play shortly after.

Where is the logic in that ?
