So based on Digital Foundry's two videos for RDR2, it looks like the recommended specs are for console equivalent/X1X settings at 1080p60fps, which isn't really that bad when you think about it considering the game already looks great, and now you're doubling the frame rate. Most likely the minimum specs are for the same visuals but for 1080p30fps?

Just ran these tests today, pretty interesting results. Thoughts?

Vulkan:

Why the 1% low on the 4C/4T and 6C/6T is 0.1? Is it because of the freezes that last a couple of seconds?

Yes, massive stutters and long freezes. They're completely gone when using DX12. Seems to me that Vulkan doesn't like anything below 8T.

I have a 6c/6t chip and have no stutters or freezes on vulkan. In fact, it gives me 7 more fps on average. So I guess 6t is minimum for Vulkan to run it smoothly?

Have you been to Saint Denis, yet?

Yup. 45-50 FPS on average. Absolutely zero stutters or freezes.

i5 6600k (Stock)

16GB ddr4

ROG RX 5700 XT

860 EVO - install

Vulkan or DX12, Borderless or Full Screen - same s*it. Freezes are still here.

And I have no idea how to fix it, If as a user I can do such thing.

Upgrade is planned, I am in a no hurry.

Nice. Maybe my results are because of artificially limiting the CPU by running the game on Lowest settings, 720p. When the game is GPU bound in Vulkan, there are very little to no stutters. Gamers nexus also found something similar in their CPU benchmark.

Intentionally increasing the load on the 8C/8T 9700K has massive impact in framtimes due to stutters on that CPU using Vulkan, but as soon as you increase the load on the GPU by increasing resolution/gfx, the stutters are gone.

Try to increase the GPU load by increasing the graphics to something like High-Ultra, at 1440p and see if there are still any stutters in Vulkan.

Playing on 27" 1080p 144Hz 1ms monitor.

Every setting is put on the highest option avalaible , whether it is Ultra or High.

Only all AA are put OFF, and reflection quality on HIGH instead of ultra.

I can try 1440p, but will have to create a virtual resolution, and I have no idea how it will look.

Interesting find. I will run a CPU test on my FX 6300 and report the results.
