Purposely spoiling the game to PC players will get you banned INSTANTLY.

Don't engage into fanboyism, it looks ridiculous saying "console peasants" and "inferior", and similar, and any platform wars will be penalised accordingly.

Ooooh November can't come soon enough!
I channel some energy to those buying it on Steam, you guys are strong for choosing to wait a month after everyone else gets the game on PC to get it on your platform of choice! Stay strong!

im sooo gonna play this on pc and specially the online, waited all this time to play the online without a ps+. Im going for the rockstar launcher version because of the 50 gold bars etc. never ever buy the most expensive editions but in this case since i expect to play this game for years to come, im going balls deep.

anybody knows if rdr2 pc copies are already being reviewed?

No rumour yet. But i guess that it is too early for review copies to have been delivered. 5-7 days should be enough to play the game thoroughly and write down a proper review of it.

Why make cutscenes pre-rendered videos? Wouldn't it be cheaper size-wise to leave it to the engine?

they aren´t pre-rendered...

well...except for some small exceptions, but 98% is not pr-rendered

I'm moving gtav to my HDD to make space for RDR2 on my system SSD this evening...

So I'm ready for the pre-download on the 9th or whenever it comes!

However the launcher is already bugging me with gtav being possibly modified, I hope it won't blow up when I'll point the game to a different location

I won't say any spoilers due to the nature of this page, however, there are only like 3-5 pre-rendered cutscenes.

All pre-rendered cutscenes have 1080p and 4K versions, quality is pretty amazing so it's like you don't even know it's pre-rendered.

I've moved everything to SSDs, they are really cheap these days.

Yes, but I have quite some large games I play seldomly that I put on cold storage

I don't even know if I still have a free SATA or if I need to extend them with an additional card!

Not really, they still cost like $500 for 1tb drives. I have a 1tb ssd, 2x2tb hdd and a 4tb hdd. Most games go on the hard drives but for games I play a lot like gta 5 and red dead I will put them on my ssd

But why pre-render though? Maybe because it may cause stutters on a consumer PC?

those cutscenes that are pre-rendered are just used in a cutscene bc R* wanted it to look seemless, and not you getting multible loadscreen bc a scene takes place on the other end of the map

I have 20$ on Steam I just have to add 40 more thats why I'm waiting otherwise I would have bougbht it from R* launcher

Am I correct to assume the game would be in a gold state.

ofc it is no way they would just announce the game and say you can play the game one month later without being gold got a feeling we would have gotten the game way sooner if it wasnt for stadia

Dam, my bad I'm wrong. Looks like I'm due for an upgrade.

Pre-rendered cutscenes were everywhere back in the day but since 2012 they are rarely used because they take too much space on the hardware, transitions are hard to make seemless from engine to render, dynamic things that happen in the game or what you wear will never change in the cutscene (because it's a render) and other things that i can't think of right now.

I've got a raytracing graphics card and tested it with both control and shadow of the tomb raider on ultra. It didn't effect my performance really, but apart from some extra shiny surfaces, I actually didnt notice a huge difference.

Am I blind or is those games just not good for showcasing what raytracing is?

I don’t know about Control but Tomb Rider doesn’t even come close to what Ray tracing can do. Try Minecraft, normally you would get more then 300 FPS, with ray tracing and some texture pack on you’d get 30 or less FPS (with a 2080ti and high end cpu)

Unless the official raytracing update has come out for minecraft I'll assume your talking about the mod, which isn't the best representation of true rtx performance as it doesn't utilise the rt cores.

The RDR2 PC stuff for the Launcher is already on the Rockstar Launcher servers.

I don't think they'll delete it, the pre-orders launch Wednesday, and this is no secret as the Launcher will show this that day, but here's some archive links.

Man it’s very close to what I did!

For what I can remember, it is pretty much without any loading screen during the story. Very impressive indeed.

I wish there was a higher resolution image of the background. I would love to use it as a wallpaper.

I know that one of the pre-rendered cutscenes is the train scene in...

Spoiler

Bare Knuckle Friendships in Epilogue Part 2

...because there would be a lot of noticeable pop-in on consoles and slower PCs if they made the train part a regular real-time cutscene, seeing as the rest of that same cutscene takes place off somewhere else.

I don't even have an HDD any more, can't understand why people still do. The difference it made to my PC performance was phenomenal.

Yes that's one mission I have seen people analyse the seamlessness of the transition from pre-rendered cutscene to game play.

Cant wait to see you guys play while i wait for another month

Yeah I've decided I'm going to wait for Steam. For me personally I don't see why I even considered buying it on an inferior platform/s in the first place.
