Purposely spoiling the game to PC players will get you banned INSTANTLY.

Don't engage into fanboyism, it looks ridiculous saying "console peasants" and "inferior", and similar, and any platform wars will be penalised accordingly.

Zero chance there is no pre-load period.

Some facts.

  • Largest R* game ever at 150Gb
  • First major game launch on their new servers
  • They need to iron out any servers issues in the days prior to launch.
  • A majority of users will not be playing day 1 if they have to download at launch.

My bet is the pre-load period will start immediately with the next announcement on either Monday or Tuesday next week.

Sounds right if you ask me. The Launcher needs more work to be good, I mean there's still people out there that can't open the shop directly from the launcher.

This seems to have to do with regional restrictions though.

Even though it became a standard for companies to do pre-load periods, I think Rockstar see it as a problem that someone may mess with the files and get early access.

Pre-load 2-3 days before release is what I would assume is okay for Rockstar.

Unrelated to the preload, but I just realized something.
How on earth is Dead-Eye gonna work with a keyboard and mouse? Like, how would you even paint your targets manually?

huh? you activate dead eye, you aim at your targets, you press the dead-eye targeting button, there's not much to it

I guess, but I'm more of wondering what the actual button will be for targeting. If it's on the keyboard then it'd be cumbersome, but if it's on the mouse then it'd be kinda weird.

How so? I use Caps Lock for special abilities in GTA V (toggle). So let's say Caps Lock is Dead-Eye, then a nearby keyboard button is used to paint targets, since left mouse would be reserved for executing the kills, and right mouse aims the weapon.

What would the keyboard button be? Has to be easy to tap while moving the mouse. So let's say... T. Or G. Or any key that you personally feel comfortable with, since I'm fairly certain you'll be able to rebind all of these things anyway!

Alternatively, they could just have you tap Caps Lock/the Dead-Eye button again to execute the kills. But then you need a separate button to be able to cancel Dead-Eye when you don't want to use it. :p

That is one of the perks of PC gaming

I suppose I was just overthinking it then. I was thinking they could do something like have the middle mouse button act as the paining button, but it'd kinda feel weird to be clicking it a bunch depending on the targets.

I wouldn't worry about it at all! People were going crazy thinking about how the Yoga controls would work for GTA V PC. Rockstar is good at default bindings. They made F and Enter the standard for entering vehicles, after all. :p

Very true! I'm sure when the game comes out and we actually find out the controls, we'll probably just get used to them anyway!

keyboard + mouse is better for everything, except fighting games.

dark souls with keyboard and mouse was so good the fast camera movement and control you have is on another level.

Manual targeting on keyboard and mouse sounds fine to me? Could have say Q to enable Deadeye, E to paint targets. No more complex than the stuff you're doing in any hero shooter or MMO style game.

Will we be able to pre load it? I've missed 5 pages and honestly I won't read it.

or just drag the aim dot towards the enemy and it'll automatically paint targets.

Deadeyes doesn't sound that complex, I would just use middle mouse button if I had to. But for me I'm just going to use controller, I get that KB&M controls have to be there but I see no reason why anyone would want to use them unless you want accuracy with the mouse.

Manual targeting is the last upgrade in SP I believe, it's really nice. RDO has auto paint which is kinda meh.

Dead eye gos like this I believe

Level 1 paints targets

Level 2 manual placement of targets

Level 3 fire continuously without disabling deadeye

Level 4 see vital organs (brain and heart)

Level 5 see vital organs (lungs and gut)
