Spider-Vice

Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Releasing November 5th

Spider-Vice

Purposely spoiling the game to PC players will get you banned INSTANTLY.

Don't engage into fanboyism, it looks ridiculous saying "console peasants" and "inferior", and similar, and any platform wars will be penalised accordingly.

RDR2 can very well be more demanding (graphics wise!) than AC Odyssey simply because its lighting model is pretty demanding (but also accurate), iirc the raymarching is the slowest part of the rendering according to that SIGGRAPH Powerpoint - hell, it's a baby version of raytracing! AC Odyssey has other bigger problems, RDR2's graphics system can be pretty demanding. Still think we'll have extra requirements for 4K and such, even GTA V had them in a preview, and Max Payne 3 had a Newswire article about all kinds of specs and settings.

I'm good with that. I like Odyssey's visuals, I think some of its environments are breath-taking. But not once did I look at that game's lighting, character models or animations and say "Yep, that looks like it deserves every ounce of my PC's juice". Though the game does still have some gorgeous lighting at times.

For coming out in the same month of the same year... RDR2 just looks better to me. AC Odyssey looks like a game that came out a year or two prior, which it essentially is (AC Origins). Saying this as an AC fanboy, as well. :p

Thanks to DF now I know exactly that my GTX 1060 6GB is enough for 60 fps 1080p on high or even max settings.

1660 ti is about 23% faster than a 1060, so it better run at 1080p60 ultra or I'll be suing rockstar for... I don't know, I'll make something up

It can't be worse than all those people who tried to sue them over GTA V's likenesses. Those were the days.

f*ck it...gonna see if I can grab a 1440p monitor before release, downscaling on my 4K monitor just isn’t going to work. Anyone know if the Benq EX3203R 144hz is worth the purchase?

Once you go 21:9 you'll never go back.

Idk, I have Nvidia DSR smoothness set to 0% for 1440 & 1620 resolutions, maybe other monitors downscale better? Don’t get me wrong certain games don’t look that bad it terms of blurriness and what not.

I just hope my i7-6800k & 1070 can run this game at high/max settings in 1080p 60 fps.

Im playing on 50" Samsung NU7092, in Nvidia settings scaling on monitor not graphic card, and in game i just set lower resolution. Im like 2-2,5 meters away from TV, the distance does the job also.

Hopefully it'll support in-game scaling, so you could have the output be 4k for your TV so things like ui, etc, are native and clean, but in-game graphics are rendering at 50%.

That would be nice, Witcher 3 dosent support that and i dont have any problem with the UI at 1080p, when sitting close i can see the difference but who sits 20cm away from 50" TV :D

We are lucky that the wait between announcement and release date is only one month (2 for steam users)

I remember that for GTA V was 10 months and with multiple delays (june 2014-april 2015). That wait was the worst.

Could raymarching be done by RT cores on RTX cards?  Not sure how it works really.

Nah, it's a different thing. It's not real time ray tracing. :p

Remember back in 2010 when you needed a GPU to render the game and another one to use PhysX to not kill your framerate.

Are ultrawide monitors really better? I'm actually considering to buy one maybe next week but I'm not sure.

Personally I'm genuinely frustrated by consoles going for 4k, 8k, etc, when the result is more pixels on a screen and not a more immersive experience... which is what ultrawide provides in abundance. It's a straight up superior experience in every game IMO.

The downside though is the screens are more expensive, particularly for ones with higher frame rates, and support for 21:9 resolutions in game is not great yet but most modern games support it.

I'd recommend a good 16:9 monitor with 144hz if you play games like CS:GO or LoL daily, but for games like RDR2... 21:9 all the way by a mile.

Not really man, it's thing of personal opinion. I know people, that had 21:9 monitors and went back to 16:9.
