Spider-Vice

Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Releasing November 5th

Spider-Vice

Purposely spoiling the game to PC players will get you banned INSTANTLY.

Don't engage into fanboyism, it looks ridiculous saying "console peasants" and "inferior", and similar, and any platform wars will be penalised accordingly.

The DF video missed a couple of key points. Fur and the tree trunk in that scene are noticeably improved, so grass draw distance isn't the only thing. Global illumination is hard to say because of the scenes they showed, but we'll have graphics settings to tune all of this, so it's not a worry point.

As for the lower than 4K resolution, of course. The video also pretty much explains that native 4K60 is extremely difficult to attain, especially if it's at very high or near maxed settings, which is why they probably went with a lower native resolution (TAA?) so the trailer could hold 60 FPS at near max settings.

A bit of a lackluster video from them as it's nothing we didn't know.

EDIT: Ninja'd, but here's my take on it:
I don't know if they (Digital Foundry) are watching us, but I also felt like Alex missed on a few things...

Such as the lack of trees on the far mountains in the Lavender Field scene (well, I'll be fair, that requires a direct comparison) and the improved log/bark/tree texture resolution and model detail.
EDIT: And the points that SV just mentioned and I forgot.

Unless they've got a build already and aren't "allowed" to speculate on anything as to not sound like they are breaking any NDAs. Great video nonetheless.

I know the good stuff will come this week and I can't wait for it.

Yeah, I definitely agree.

However, a bunch of games are releasing soon such as MW, Outer Worlds and such. They've a lot to produce within the next few weeks.

It's Rockstar, so they might as well make us wait another week for the actual tiny little details on the PC version.

I think single RTX 2080 Ti will provide 4K stable 60 fps ultra no problems.

If RTX 2070 is already almost twice the power of Xbox One X GPU, then there's RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti so yeah

They missed many things in this video. It's kinda interesting, that even Rockstar had to lower resolution to attain constant 60 FPS, it's gonna be pretty demanding when maxed out :D

It's probably a matter of them not recording the trailer on the most powerful tested PC, or they have no RTX 2080 Ti's for some reason. :p  There's nothing wrong with lowering one of the axes to maintain 4K at 60 FPS at near-max settings if the focus of the trailer is 60 FPS.

Tiny details will come when we will actually play the game in my opinion... I mean we're 15, almost 14, days away.

Maybe they have  RTX 2080 and that's why it's 80% of 4K.

I think we'll have previews detailing the graphics options so... More what I mean.

I honestly can't imagine anyone willingly pre-ordering from EGS.

What do you think about GTX 1050? Any chance it will run this masterpiece?

My RTX 2080 Ti overclocked can barely run GTA 5 at 60fps in 4k ultra. I have to doubt it will be able to run rdr2 in ultra at 4k60 but I sure will try.

I have a 1050Ti and I'm afraind to be disappointed a little bit, tho it still has 4GB of VRAM so I'll see what happens, but a 1050 has like 2GB of VRAM?

Well that's what you get when you want ultra detailled animations instead of instant left and right

Yeah, that's one possibility actually. But I'm pretty sure people can just buy keys to redeem from reputable vendors, right? Or wait for the Steam version?

Mine 1050 has 4 GB. So I hope for at least medium graphics running on at least 30 fps.

Yeah that's not that much if you ask me, plus the 1050 and 1050Ti chip aren't that powerful compared to a 1060.

I remember when 2gb cards were something special.

Reputable vendors are where my keys are from (one for me and one for my son).  Saved me £25 compared to buying direct from RGL and I really don't care waiting a few hours extra to play launch day.

They never let me down before after I ordered a Borderlands 3 key, 5 months early (again, for my son).  It was still cheaper than an EGS pre-order.

Didn’t see any graphics options related to global illumination. But there’s two separate options for ambient occlusion. I don’t have more details though.

Maybe it's somewhere among the 30 graphics options? :p IIRC the console files with graphics settings that made the rounds had stuff like Volumetrics Quality (I assume lighting), etc.

Your best bet will just be to let GeForce Now do the settings for you.  Once you fiddle with the settings bar there, you'll find a nice balance between med/high at 30fps.

Still have a 4 gig 980. Considering it's very close to a 1060, minus the VRAM... I'm expecting variables of 30-60 FPS at Very High/High, 1080p.

f*ck, it can't be worse than AC Odyssey. It literally cannot. I punched that game's settings up to mostly Very High/Ultra (with volumetric clouds on High because those are insane). I was usually hovering at around 35-50, but got 60 surprisingly often in areas that did not involve cities. That game also recommended a 970, which is interesting.
