Spider-Vice

Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Releasing November 5th

Spider-Vice

Purposely spoiling the game to PC players will get you banned INSTANTLY.

Don't engage into fanboyism, it looks ridiculous saying "console peasants" and "inferior", and similar, and any platform wars will be penalised accordingly.

Looks like PC version is extremely scalable. Some people here are clearly in the know. Preview/review copy?

To be honest, this time I haven't put any dumb text or anything so this might be real for real.

Is John Marston fixed?

Oops, I didn't remember and I can't check this right now.

I almost sure it will require to do some scripts by modders to enable SP modding, but this shouldn't be hard.

This.

Rockstar has sent the game to very talented modders to make graphics even more realistic at the release date, so that’s the way I’ve got this.

Just kidding, I can’t tell you.

I cannot T-T

Are you and _CP_ somehow involved in development of RDR 2 PC version? Only possibilites:

-Preview/review copy

-involvment in development/testing

-One of Rockstar partners.

If that's happening it must be some secret conspiracy club 'cause T2 doesn't like modders.

i think i know what R* plans are with all of those different settings, they're trying to make this version future proof by adding parameters that can't be used right now by current GPU's and CPU's.

I don't know, whenever i see talks about "future proofing" I always think of it as a load of bull. It always feels like devs or fanboys are trying to defend bad and shoddy optimisations

Not calling you fanboy MrQuiche or anything, far from it, don't get me wrong :D I am just talking about the general idea that I get when I think about this "future proofing" stuff

I think this is just R* trying to cover as many current configurations as possible.

Everytime Rockstar release a game on PC (so yeah every 6 years lmao) makes me believe that other companies just throw bullsh*t on PC specs, just to make hardware companies sell more stuff.

It is interesting if that's the case, so R* isn't that strict as I have imagined it to be.

I guess it make sense since it's just the PC version, so almost everything is same except for the new content.

I personally would not be surprised if Rockstar had handed out early copies to known modders, not saying I 100% believe it but yea.

GTA modding has obviously always been a huge thing obviously but in Take-Two's eyes it gives them nothing but this year in particular GTA modding through roleplay servers has given them a sh*t ton of attention on Twitch, where they've never had any attention what so ever for any of their games outside of launch day. It's also likely given them quite a good number of sales as those servers need a legit (Steam) copy of GTA V to play. It might finally be a case of Take-Two realising there's some financial upsides to modding.

In fact the moment RDR2 PC was confirmed we saw the people behind the GTA V custom server platform the RP servers use, FiveM, announce the RDR2 equivalent. The people behind the most popular RP servers on Twitch, from players to developers, also talked about how excited they are for it. We also had the voice actors for Arthur Morgan and Michael from GTA V both mention modding in their tweets about RDR2 PC the day it was announced. In an interview with Rockstar about RDO and how it's leaning into roleplay through the new Roles, they also briefly mentioned that they thought what the GTA roleplayers were doing was amazing too.

This is just all speculation on my part and lets be honest we all wouldn't be surprised if Take-Two do in fact still hate modding, but we'll see, it would be amazing to see Take-Two/Rockstar publicly endorse this stuff.

I'm not surprised to be honest, PC version of RDR 2 is the most expected PC version since GTA V came out in 2015.

@Jason I personally think that if you want Take-Two to understand what you just said, you have to summarize all that in a simple question

"Is it bad or good?" and based on your answer, Take-Two will decide whether they go bounty hunting or not.

Modding, at it's core, cannot be anything but good for the longevity of a game if the base game is worthy.

Of course they can't monetize it, perhaps license the code to mainstream modders, but players on FiveM aren't likely to be sharkcard buyers anyway even if modding wasn't possible, so I don't think they're losing any revenue.

Quite the contrary, players still have to buy the game to play on mod servers, and those keep things fresh and interesting for years.

Mount & Blade is a perfect example of how to treat a thriving mod community: make them partners rather than treat them like pirates.

A vibrant mod scene should be taken as a complement, not seen as people trying to steal from you.

First time posting here. Heads up that Digital Foundry are working on a first look at RDR 2 PC (based on the trailer) since R* supplied them with a super high quality version of said trailer.

They did the same with the previous RDR2 console trailers so definitely not surprising. Sorta expected them to have early access to the game itself tho, maybe later. The silence is deafening :D

Or we get only what Rockstar wants us to get. You can call this conspiracy theory but it feels weird, that we get info from modding community, the same modding community that has been mentioned few times in recent months, even by GTA and RDR 2 actors. It's weird, that unofficial RDR 2 multiplayer has already been announced and R*/T2 doesn't seem to care about it. Something seems to be happening in the background but I don't really know what.

Imagine if the PC trailer was the reveal trailer for RDR2.

Just short like the original trailer but people would have lost their absolute minds (Also because it gives away much more info like Saint Denis and New Austin)

But you know Arthur's monologue in the PC trailer is so much more meaningful than Arthur's sentence in Trailer #1. Really captures what the game is all about without giving anything away.

Arthur talking about civilization and them showing the different areas of the game... basically thematically moving up from the desert into the city. It's really beautiful, and resonates so much with me after playing the game once already. I cannot wait to experience it all again.

Some get it, some won't (note I didn't say can't).

It may be the dichotomy of attitudes prevalent in respective devs, just speculation of course as few people get an inside glimpse, but it might be summed up as the difference between those whose philosophy is 'let's make a great game' and those whose mantra is 'let's make a lot of money'.

Naturally both are possible, and certainly not mutually exclusive, but the focus often becomes obvious pretty quickly.

Obsidian vs Bethesda are good examples of an extreme opposition of ideals.

It's still an entertainment 'product', and like music, the audience can easily tell if your heart's not really in it.

Ya gotta love what you do.

That's what modders get big props for.

I'm not begrudging devs their due recompense, not at all, they fronted a lot of capital to make a game, they deserve to get it back commensurate with the quality of their efforts, and the employees deserve their fair share every bit as much.

A great game that makes a ton of money is a win/win for all of us.

Without spoiling anything Arthurs voiceovers before the game was released and people knew the story were perfect for this idea they were trying to set.

Is there even an excuse to own a sh*tty computer nowadays?

What about those Athlon GEs? I bet they are a good bang for f*ck buck if you can't afford sh*t.

Hell, I'd say that if you have a Ryzen 3 3200G you may be able to play RDR2... Poorly, but playable.
