Collector (special valuable treasure idea)

FREE ROAM EVENT

 

The map to a very special treasure is scattered around the world. The objective of each player or posse in this free roam event is to collect each piece of the treasure map. Once a piece of the treasure map has been collected, it must be defended and protected because the location of these map pieces are always visible to other players in the session. These map pieces can be looted or dropped. The first player/posse to obtain all map pieces will win the special treasure map.

Either no one would win or it'd be dominated by posses.

 

Personally I don't feel like we really need any more PvP free mode events, I'd love some more stuff like Trade Route where it's a collective effort for a shared reward.

Not feeling it as a PvP event concept but I do like the general idea of piecing together a map from multiple fragments for a better than average reward.

Can't they just introduce that as a special treasure map? Working like any other map, but you've to collect several pieces.

 

Or drawing maps like in RDR1

Yes. Maybe like a weekly legendary treasure from Madam Lazar. The Bounty Hunter role gets a weekly legendary bounty, so it would be nice if the Collector role got the same love.

I've wanted a weekly treasure map since launch, kinda sad we never got one with the update. I think a weekly map with multiple stages that is more difficult than the normal ones would be cool.

 

Some type of weekly treasure map like the maps from SP would be perfect but I guess those would be more difficult to make.

I'd prefer if they never added anything to do with PvP ever again. GTA Online was ruined by it. Let's make this a co-op game, outside of the current deathmatches.

Not feeling it, sorry OP.

 

Aside from my personal perspective that R* should back away from all PvP other than Showdowns (and even then that they should limit the amount of time and effort put into creating new game modes), the idea seems to be a diversion away from the direction in which R* are taking RDO.

 

In the recent interview R* gave, they even said that they have taken note that PvP doesn't seem to be what a lot of players want (I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist of it, R* seeing a "shift towards playing cooperatively" is a shift away from playing competitively, if the PvP in RDO could ever have been considered competitive in the first place, that is).

 

More game modes like Trade Route would be more than welcome, weekly treasure hunts comprised of multiple maps would be a great addition too. But fighting over and/or defending maps, nah, sorry, that would get a big thumbs down from me.

I'd rather it be a co-op effort since we already have:

 

Bounty Hunter:

1 Co-op

1 PvP

 

Collector:

0 Co-op

2 PvP

 

Trader:

1 Co-op

0 PvP

 

The Collector Role doesn't need a third PvP orientated Free Roam Event. Instead of PvP, it could be a co-op mission. The goal would be to collect all 10 pieces of a Treasure Map from various NPC enemies scattered around the area. Collecting all 10 pieces of the map would reveal the search area for the treasure. If the treasure is found in time, everyone that's still alive gets it. Leaderboard placement would be based on the number of map pieces found.
