Coxbox
Native Americans in 1898 The first thing to remember is the year is 1898, not 1400, before reading further get all of the preconceived ideas that all native Americans had long hair and wore a breach cloth and used bows and tomahawks, this is not a Disney Movie. If the below belongs to your character, please do not post pictures of them it is a stereotype, they are not welcome here. 1) Shirtless. 2) Long Middle Parted Hair. 3) Bow and Tomahawk Only. 4) Everything and Anything Fur. 5) Gauntlets On May 28, 1830, the Indian Removal Act was signed by President Jackson. “The Act allowed the government to divide land west of the Mississippi to give to Indian tribes in exchange for the land they’d lost. The government would pick up the cost of relocating the Indians and helping them resettle. The Indian Removal Act was controversial, but Jackson argued it was the best option since settlers had rendered Indian lands incompatible with sustaining their way of life.” https://www.history.com/topics/native-american-history/indian-reservations You may be wondering what the above reference means in relation to RDR2 Online. The US Government wanted to control the Indigenous Population and Culturally assimilate the Native American Population into mainstream European–American culture. By 1898 North American Indigenous People dressed in shirts, Vests, Pants and Hats. Since the early days of European settlement, the different Bands or Tribes of North America traded for European goods such as Firearms. Life on the Reservations “Many economic issues plagued the reservation. Nomadic tribes lost their entire means of subsistence by being constricted to a defined area. Farmers found themselves with land unsuitable for agriculture. Many lacked the know-how to implement complex irrigation systems. Hostile tribes were often forced into the same proximity. The results were disastrous.” https://www.ushistory.org/us/40d.asp Living on a Reservation was terrible at this Time Period in History. While playing RDR2 Online for several years now I have seen all the different character creations, it has always been an issue for me seeing people using the latest modern gold plated weapons, it looks out of place. A Native American would not be running around with Gold Plated Mauser Pistols as their sidearm, or a Gold plated Bolt Action Rifle. Horses Native Ameicans were Excelent Horse Breeders, they did not just breed the Appaloosa, it does get frustrating just seeing this all the time. The Shakermaker
What boots do you wear? I use to wear moccasins or go bare foot. But thought the bare foot thing was kinda demeaning. Got some brown boots now.
Coxbox
Traditionally moccasins are what Native Americans wore either these STRAYHORN BOOTS or HIGHTOP MOCCASINS Would be nice to have this instead of just boots but lets hope for more content in the future. I typically wear the moccasins with most of my outfits but I sometimes wear the light brown gaiters to get a tucked in, similar look to moccasins without the bulkiness of the actual moccasins Coxbox
ALifeOfMisery
@Coxbox I don't play as a Native American character but I recognize thought and effort when I see it. Top quality OP and thread. Leftover Pizza
I'm using the Pelt Half Chaps as boots, Lightfoot or black leather bandito pants, bare chested and the gauntlets primarily. Sadly have 2 handguns equipped, so can't do much to keep that as barren as possible. I'm not making use of any tomahawks, except for pictures sometimes. Nor do I actively use any ability cards, besides 'The Unblinking Eye' for eagle eye purpose only. When I use my bow, I do for hunting, or shooting a dynamite arrow up some idiot's ass. I bought 1 pair (the one on the photo) first and regretted to never have bought the black ones, after they were taken from the catalogue again. Last week people found a way to get them through looking them up via the URL the online catalogue uses and I was able to obtain the black ones too, before it got patched. Of "all" the options we have for native (or somewhat towards the direction of) footwear, I find this option the best. The moccasin boots we get are hideous, imo and can't be covered with chaps either. I've been hoping on some good native american clothing for as long as the game is running. Some bone armor, feathered headdresses and so would be really welcome, as well as a teepee camp theme. TheLordMarvel and FrikkenZz

ghostsoap01
Interesting to see the 5 nations flag in the OP (the purple flag with the 4 squares). Considering the 5 nations (the settlers referred to them as the Iroquois) lived mainly in Eastern Canada, I assume it would be uncommon to see many of them in what the game refers to as the 'southern states'. BTW to anyone wondering the 5 nations are: Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca. Personally I don't play a native character, but if I did they'd be Mohawk, as I live in Montreal, which is right in the middle of the Mohawk territory. I've always liked the Mohawk's ever since Assassins Creed 3 with Connor/Ratonhnhaké:ton For my attire, I've gone with Bandito pants, a poncho and some moccasins. (Although this outfit is deemed too hot to wear in New Austin, not sure why..) I also had this version a few weeks ago, but I switched it up for the newest additions I may even make an alt-attire where he's bare chested too. For the camp or future property, I'm hoping they'll add a longhouse to reside in. But I don't think there was many longhouses in this area. More towards New York. RaigeGames
This has been my go-to outfit for quite a while, I just wish we had better moccasins. My character is Lakota and is based (loosely) off of the character Wind in His Hair from the movie Dances with Wolves, though his actor is Omaha not Lakota. I figured the Lakota tribe was a good model given the area the game encompasses, though I'm toying with the idea of modeling my character after the Shawnee instead, as the Shawnee were very prominent in the area where I live. The area where I live is very rich in Native American history, which is why I chose to create a Native character. I live in Ohio, where Shawnee chief Tecumseh was from, so we learned a lot about him and the Shawnee in school. Every summer there is an outdoor drama that plays in the town amphitheater that portrays the life of Tecumseh, and it is nationally known. The drama is narrated (a recording) by Graham Greene, the Native American actor who played Kicking Bird in Dances with Wolves and coincidentally, also voices Rains Falls in single player. We also have a Native American festival in the spring called the Feast of the Flowering Moon where Natives from all over the country come to dance, sing, and sell their crafts. trevorjc2511, FrikkenZz, a1dopeman and 2 others
ThaBirdCoot
I once met a native role playing dude. He probably was invested 100 % in this. Like it took over so much on his personality you came to wonder, is this guy nuts or really just into it ? Not a bad fella but a tad crazy. I mean if you have native blood running tru ya veins supposedly would you play damn fkn video games nowadays ? smh be real
Leftover Pizza
I've chosen my character to be Comanche, since we have the Great Plains in the game already, which was their territory for long, before the settlers from abroad came in and decimated their numbers with foreign deceases, warfare and encroachment of Americans. After accepting life in reservations, some returned during the 1890-1900's. Living of hunting and trading, trying to establish a life in the current world. My choice to play a native character is because every Joe and his uncle plays either a Disney cowboy or a hot redheaded chick character. Leftover Pizza
If you want to ride your horse bare back, do a supply run mission at your camp and fail it. There's a good chance the saddle will vanish from your horse. You will have access to your weapons, horse cargo too, but not to your outfits. Also, any mane and tale upgrades are gone for the time your horse is saddleless. Worth looking into for a more native look. Upgraded stats due to saddle and stirrups are untouched, as well as the name of your horse. RaigeGames
I wish riding bareback was an option. I wouldn't even mind if riding bareback didn't have stats since I buy saddles for looks and not their stats. I have the Lumley McCelland saddle on all my horses because it's a stripped down look and is sort of similar to the kind of saddles I've seen Plains Indians use Edited October 3, 2019 by RaigeGames

FrikkenZz
I dont have a native char really, but I play as a viking, since im from norway and this char looks like me irl. I dont rock the exact same beard tho. But my char is similar to natives in most other aspects, in terms of clothes and weapons. I use bow and hatches/cleaver. And lightfoot pants and moccasins. Ive change both the vest and the pants to a bit darker shade after this pic was taken. The Shakermaker and Shelby GR
