Too many things to collect?

That's not starting with zero items in a set, it would be just getting what you need. If you continually collect, you'll have sets missing just a few pieces, even after you sell a full one.

That would work for one day when you only need one or two things to complete each set but you can't keep doing that and eventually you'll need to go around and collect everything again. So it's not exactly making 4k daily unless you collect everything every day.

I have a similar situation. But it is always with one specific friend and it is quite... maddening isn't the word. Annoying may be.

So my good friend (who I have known on Xbox for almost a decade now), lives in Germany and only has about 2 hours to play Sunday-Thursday in the mornings (for me that would be 11pm-1am). He has always been a bit focused on the wrong things at the worst moments in most games. In RDR2 (and you can imagine how this goes for other games from the descriptions), he is more worried about looting bodies while a shootout is still going on, checking his collector bag, looking at the challenges to double check, and same as your situation, being distracted immediately by an area that may contain a collectible.

It is more frustrating when we do the legendary bounty because when it becomes available again after completion, due to his limited time, we have time for one go at it (unless we screw up early on), before he has to leave for the day. The rest of us will be ready to go and we are just waiting on him to have the metal detector lead him to a collectible.

I agree with @RayD70 that there should be an understanding.

I like to prioritize my activities, get the dailies I can do easily, collect the stuff that's nearby, but if there's a mission ongoing that takes precedence.

That's another reason I prefer to play as a lone wolf.

Anyway, where does one find these collection maps? i found one rdo map site but its creator thinks its supposed to be a source of income (you have to pay to see all the markers) so f- that site.

You buy them from Madame Nazar. But they really are a waste of money. Use this site instead which shows all collectible locations for each day. Edit: No cost involved.

A complete full run of the map for 1 of every collectable required to complete each set doesn't take as long as you'd think with a map and good routing. It helps a lot when you have dupes for sure, but that 4k/day is doable in a few hours even if you have an empty Collector's bag.

Oh and just to touch on what you said in an earlier post about them nerfing it, I suspected they'd nerf it within days of the update going out but despite multiple patches and the PC version going live, they've not touched it. They are even running a bonus for it this week. I genuinely don't think they care that much especially as Collector doesn't really make any gold and they're now pushing out more and more gold bar only cosmetics as well as Roles and Outlaw Passes which are gold only.

I'd love to know the route because it doesn't sound possible. With 166 things to collect in three hours you would need to be collecting one thing around every minute. With some things being hard to get to I think it would be difficult to do it within six hours.

Agreed, some of the locations are at the furthest northern tip of the map, or way to the west in New Austin.

The majority are located centrally in Lemoyne/New Hanover, but there's loads of traveling to do.

I've spent 3-4 hour sessions only getting about half or a little better of 2 collections and had to finish then next day, but that includes a fair bit of hunting and selling, cleaning/feeding the horse, etc.

Granted I haven't listed all of the items yet.
I'm using GTASeries; guides and making a per day list for each set, and that takes up a lot of time outside the game.

I really appreciate the amount of work those videos took, as it takes me around an hour to list a full 3 day set of one suit of cards, imagine how long it took to research, record, and edit down all of those! 🤘

I'm starting to see collections like crates: if they're going to do fairly regular bonus weeks on 'em, best to collect during regular play and save them up for selling when the bonus comes around again, minimizing stress and burnout.

It is possible to do it every day, I've done it lol. Probably took me 6 hours for a full run with a lot of f*cking around, eating food, afking.

Almost all of the collectables you need are within a short horse ride of each other, many of them within the same locations (towns or even buildings).

I've been doing my usual coins, arrows, heirlooms and jewelry. It takes me about 3 hours or so but I don't use the most efficient routes and stray often. Gonna smash out those collections all this coming week for a nice $21,600. Gonna hit $150K today.

I also would suggest doing suicide jumps and respawn instead of having to do a long detour at occasions.

Aye, also leave the far north (Colter) til last in my experience. It's a long ride up there and back and it doesn't work well with any route. Once you've finished up the rest of the map, fast travel to Colter and get what you need.

If you do have lots of dupes, fast travel in general isn't a bad idea to cut down the travel times, although if you do have the spare time collecting more dupes and hitting dig spots and metal detector spots is worth it in the long run.

I have found things in the same building as one I was actively retrieving, but getting an efficient run is difficult if you haven't got the metal detector yet.

It's slow going at the start, but it's far more reliable than waiting (hoping) for Cripps to get off his lazy ass and set up your camp.

Is there a fee for dying like in GTA?

I've never seen a charge for it yet, just curious.

Each their own, but I found the map the biggest game killer so far. Tried it for an hour and never gonna use a map again. Wealth is not what I'm chasing in this game and grinding digspots isn't either. Without much effort I've gathered 30K in cash, while buying what I want and I feel I've got far too much already and a way too easy run when the next update launches. I don't want to ruin my gameplay with any of these tools.

^^ Me too. Did the map thing once and never again. It's a lot more fun for me just finding things as I go along my way.

It is. I use it sparingly, like seasoning. One or two pieces missing - use map.

Yesterday, I thought, I sold my collection the day before. Checked my satchel and had seven full collections. Sold!

Had four collections, almost complete - used map.

The other way, is more lucrative. But, f*cking tedious. Payout was hefty; went from $195k to  $201k in one hour.

That is my way. Also, it allows me to build my gold reserve.

As I said, each their own and I'm not the one judging anyone's gameplay. To me it just kills all the fun I have in collecting. Of course I know spots by heart by now, many of them, but I don't memorise what comes and when they spawn, and still get pleasantly surprised when I complete a collection on my own. Yesterday's hour of map using didn't give me any fulfilment at all. The extra money neither. It's kinda funny that, in this game, gaining funds with external tools feels like I'm cheating. First and last hour I used it.

? I agree. I only use the map for one or two pieces.

Used that site the past two days now, just for the coins though. Usually I'll do New Hanover and the surrounding area's first, has a nice loop between them. Then I'll go to West Elizabeth, then ending in New Austin. I'll also go off the path if I feel a vibration, found like 5 tarot cards and 4 other oddities doing that. I like using the map, because it takes me to locations I'd never even consider going too normally.

Colt is just very clever and has a sixth sense for finding coins, even ones deep in caves. ;)

Just by doing the coins, I've got up to $7015, which isn't a lot of money for most of ya'll; but it's a lot for me.

Without the online map, I'm 99% sure I'd have never completed a single set.

Truer words etc etc. I'm glad to have been cash grinding since beta because I can really appreciate how easy it is to make money now.

Also, hoe-lee-phuck at your $201K! That's respectable. I'm $50K behind but am on the way. I'd be closer but I spent lots on maxing all cards/stable slots/all pamphlets. $200K is f*cking nuts. :D

I don‘t wanna be judging, but I can‘t imagine you‘ve earned that much without using the „map“ religiously. Not that I don‘t believe you, but you must be doing nothing else then roaming around 24 RL hours...?

I did all of he collections in a couple of three hour sessions (give or take a skirmish or two and supply runs). Very doable. Using the online map, I worked my way from Tumbleweed, north east to Annesburg, then to St Denis, Rhodes then Hennigan's Stead. I made about $4500. Easy, easy money.

Got the detector last night finally, that eases the pressure, still have to grind a bit 'cause I'm just starting out.

The feeling of being way behind is tough, still riding the day 1 free horse, bought 3 guns and a couple of pieces of clothing, but I need to boost my money, then concentrate on levelling up in Trader to get the big wagon, then I feel I can just relax and amble along at my own pace.

It's hard to feel comfortable playing slowly if you're broke, and collections are the easiest way to get decent money at a low level.

edit: I realized last night I don't even own a lantern yet! Gotta get one ASAP.

Oh sweet summer child, be glad you're starting at a time where you can earn $4.5K a day with ease. :D

Once upon a time we made our money hunting and fishing. Our horses wouldn't come if you called them by water and you lost all your pelts if someone killed you. They nerfed our fish and our exotic bird feathers...times were tough.

Don't worry, stick to collecting and you'll skyrocket your levels, your ability cards and your wallet. You are behind but that won't last long. Enjoy the rags to riches dynamic. :D

LOL!   :colgate:

Yeah, I know things are much better in terms of money making, some glitches have been patched, the game is indeed all that I've been waiting for, and as always loads of potential for more.

The $4k per day isn't possible without the metal detector, which I only just bought last night after a week of chasing cards & heirlooms.

I managed about $1000 at best so far and that's after more than 6 hours of play, but it'll get easier, I'll know the map better, etc.

I've spent time grinding in GTA, not going after that sort of play style in RDO. Once I have a few thousand and the basic tools to properly play, I'll aim at the most enjoyable pursuits, not going to make a job out of the game.

Hahaha. Those numbers are a combo of the everything:

Trader sales are about $20k or more.

Condor eggs - six times (maybe seven)

Maps used are at 265

The Collector role, fit like a glove, with my playstyle. I loot - everything. I have, finished Salvage at no.1 or no. 2, the majority of the time. That alone has completed sets for me. And I still, play Stranger and Story missions.

BTW - a great farm for tarot, bottles, etc.

Not to mention, Bounty Hunting. (loot those f*ckers as well)

And I play an average of 3 hours a day. (except for when my old lady, is at  Happy Hour or the weekends) -

can easily hit 5 hours.

Maybe, its luck. Also, gold is at 1835 - cant reach that, playing nothing but Collector role.

PVE playstyle, worked out.
