Too many things to collect?

Collector obsession is seriously affecting my game. Not from myself because I'm happy to collect things at certain times but the friends I play with have to stop and dig something up whenever they feel the vibration. There was one more daily we had to finish off yesterday and while trying to get us to the spawn point he was jumping off his horse every few minutes to search something after his controller rumbled. After spending an hour trying to get a quarter of the way across the map I gave up and just left them and rode on ahead. This is not just one friend doing this. They are all doing it. It's like some kind of obsession and they can't ride past things. The fact there are so many things to find makes it even more frustrating. I'd much prefer it if things only made your controller vibrate when you were actively searching for things - like when you do a treasure map. Not constantly. Is it just me or does anyone else get this?

I think a fair understanding should be that while possed up, if there's a goal (like, say, running bounties), collections go on the back burner. Do that on your own time.

I have to admit that the way I play has changed significantly since I purchased the metal detector. It's easy money. I think people are filling their boots because there is a general concensus that Rockstar will eventually nerf it. Too many people making too much money. You can't ride a few hundred yards without the detector going off, takes me forever to get anywhere.

Anytime I'm with buddies, We're either just chatting and hanging which means we're all free to do whatever, or if someone has plans or needs a hand on something like a daily, that takes priority.

Adding like-minded folk and communicating is key. :)

Yep. Either they'll nerf it, or like Jason said in the weekly thread, with folk winning $1k for a find of egg, things are gonna get stupidly overpriced, lol.

We're only at the beginning of all this, and many of us are already super rich for the time period and with a sh*tty shovel costing $300, how much is that hot air balloon gonna be, lol.

I feel ya @AmyStone, it can be a pain to compromise everyone's idea of the best way to play, as someone who's been on both sides of the fence lately. I've got a friend who all but refuses to loot bodies, says it's boring and pointless and just wants to be off to the next thing as soon as a shootout is over. I've tried to convince him otherwise but he stands his ground, which is fine, but you better believe I'm hanging around to loot the aftermath of a bounty capture or whatever. I refuse to substantially nerf my payout just because he can't be moving at less than top speed for 90 seconds. But then once we get moving, I resist the urge to stop and loot all the pursuers that get shot on the ride back to the sheriff. Compromise!

On the other hand I've been in some random posses lately where people just want to sit outside the dropoff for 10 minutes twirling their guns, which is too far for me. It's one thing to hunt or collect while you run the clock down but sitting in silence til the clock turns red isn't worth it for me.

I think this is more of a case of one player in a group being selfish rather than how the collecting of items works being flawed.

I rarely play in a group, but when I do, the group activity comes first. If we're doing dailies, bounties, sale/supply rotations etc. I'll ignore my controller rumbling, unless, as @IamCourtneysaid above, if players are waiting out timers doing nothing, I'll go off for 10 minutes hunting or with my metal detector out.

I really don't think there's too many things to collect though, I actually want R* to add more loot and more collections, the collector role fits so well into how I like to play and as I don't use the maps and videos players have made showing the locations of loot, it's added a great deal of variety and anticipation to my gameplay too.

I know how you feel, you'll need to learn how to ignore vibrations. If you can't, I will take you to C.A. (Collectors Anonymous) with meetings in Saint Denis.

Tell them to do the 4-5 hour GtaSeriesVideos collecting spree guide to satisfy their needs, lol.

I am afraid I would also be one of those people stopping to dig something up everytime the controller vibrates lol.

After the stingy rewards RDR Online used to give out, getting about £4,000 for all the collections is to good to miss out on.

Collected them all once, and on my second time around now lol

Collect casually, rather than on an obsessed chain of looping across the map like worker ants.

Then, once you really need more cash, fill in the blanks by going after the rare items that get a collection done.

Don't be the boring person who spends most of his time zig-zagging across the map, collecting and collecting and collecting so that he has enough cash to hate the game.

Force yourself to play ALL of the game modes, almost all of the time. Variety is the spice of life, and unseasoned chicken sucks.

The only reason I cared about doing the Collector role was the skills used as rewards for progressing, and I think I’ll stop bothering with a metal detector once I achieve my goal of getting $40K out of it.

I get arrowheads, coins and the jewelry sets daily. I'm kind of addicted to the income which equates to $2.5k plus. However, if I was playing in a posse and had an objective, I'd relent. I'm sitting on $81k atm, I've told myself once I hit 100k I'll farm another 4.5k to get all stables unlocked and 6k to get the rest of the recipes then I'll go back to doing dailies to earn gold.

its a shame Rockstar didnt do what they done on GTAO, with CEO or Motorcycle club........ Activate & Deactivate.

Then nothing spawns in that you have to collect, it reminds hidden until we activate Collector role.
