[III-IV] Various GTA Downgraders

Kind of ironic that something that was designed for putting custom music in the game is now being used for putting music that used to be in the game by default back where it should be. That's called a workaround, not a fix, and a crappy one at that. If people are seriously resorting to that by now I've lost all hope. Just downgrade and call it a day until that mysterious tool stuck in development limbo comes out.

@Ogden Depends what you mean, if you mean music downgrader, thats stuck in limbo as I already pointed out. Someone needs to release a specific tool to edit a specific type of file and its taking forever, I don't know. If you mean GTA IV version downgrader, there isn't really a clear option for that. I just used steam depot to downgrade to an earlier version of CE and use the music downgrader there. Or, you could go all the way and download the uncut patch 8 version.

I'll wait for thar tool, I'm in no rush. Working on 100% in all the stories so I want the latest patch. I had no idea about the Steam depot thing you mentioned though, thanks for letting me know about that useful ability.

I have the same issue as the other poster and I've tried a clean reinstall and it didn't work. It seems like something in the audio config regarding LCHC and The Journey is busted as using the radio downgrader in the OP worked fine, albeit not including the DLC exclusive stations (Vice City FM, Ram Jam, etc.)

I brought back Journey audio config from clean 1.2.0.43. Station is working now, but without two missing songs. When I will find time, I try to add them.

Extract, copy and paste above file to ...GTAIV\pc\audio\config folder.

Hello all.

I identified issues - there were wrong characters used in dat15 and dat16 files, which corrupted Journey radio station (and probably LCHC). It is fixed now.

HOTFIX below:

So... In previous patches (1.2.0.32, if I'm not mistaken), the old radio worked fine (just replace the config,sfx,text folders). Love David Bowie, Pumpkins, Stevie nicks, ELO from LCRR, Journey.
With the new update (1.2.0.43), I tried to do the same operation. The game worked well, but if you saved with the changed (old) radio, then you could not load this save (wrote an error).
I tried to fix it for 4 hours, but nothing came out!
In the end, I replaced all the files in sfx, and then started changing the files in the config folder one by one. When I changed sounds. dat15, the old tracks didn't appear, but VCFM Self actualization didn't work, although the game was saved and even loaded!
Then I changed game. dat16 and the old music appeared, but there was also a problem - the game was saved, but did not load!
Now I replaced them with your file and everything works super! And ALSO vcfm and self actualization fm work normally! Thanks!
So if someone is faced with such a problem, then download the sfx folder from here (https:// www.mediafire. com/file/y9yeeaas32r62mz/IVRadios.7z (remove the spaces, steam doesn't like mediafire) ) and the config folder from the tolo171 post and everything works great!
By the way, is it suitable for EFLC?

p. s. Lazlow from ZIT can't identify old songs. (Maybe because I play with Russian)

Thanks for your feedback  There is still some small issues to correct (few people noticed, that some stations are playing without ads between songs. But when they will come up, they are constantly playing for long time - I think I identified issue in dat16 file, but I need time for testing it).
About ZiT - all songs are updated but only for english version so far. If you would like to add it by yourself you can use X GXT Editor (I am using 2.1 version) to edit .gxt file in ...GTAIV\common\text. Catch me on priv and I will send you a american.gxt file with all songs in it.

Okay, maybe you send me that file? I try to translate file to russian language or add some info into american (I hope that I have enough knowledge of English to translate, and the brains to understand the program :)). For the word, in Russian, you need to change the encoding in the program somehow. Otherwise, it displays strange characters.

By the way, is it possible to add combine all the old songs and all the old songs from add-ons (like Bowie from the original and cut-out Doors from TLAD)?

I can confirm it works. I can hear music from the radio station and places that play the station like the cybercafe. Good fix.

I add ZiT answers about new songs from your file to my. Unfortunately, I can't test all SMS (can't ask ZiT for all the songs I added, but I checked some of them and everything seems to work). The game is also saved and loaded without any problems.

- Terry Riley - A Rainbow in Curved Air is properly recognized by ZiT! (before that ZiT! was showing Tangerine Dream - Remote Viewing) in GTA IV (not Episodes).

- Radio Stations are properly playing songs with adverts between.

Hmm, nice! Once you finish migrating all songs to the new version, will you give Sam Lake an opportunity to do an installer like he did for other downgraders and make it available on the homepage of this post?

Hello their but I was hoping you could please help so I recently used ur downgrader on my gta San Andreas and It worked and made 2 gta sa files but when I ran the game It crashed after I tried loading an old save then I had to restart my pc but when it booted back up the 1.0 version of gta sa was gone and now when I deleted the game on steam now it won’t redownload it just tells me disk write failure when I gets to 100% but when I download the game to my hdd it works and I want to have it downloaded on my sad can you please help it would be greatly appreciated thank you

Thanks for reply but i don’t know bro I guess when I used ur downgrader it downgraded my game but I i guess when I tried to run a save file it crashed and that’s when I rebooted the pc and the app had disappeared from the root of the game all that was left was the steam version of gta sa but for some reason steam just doesn’t want to let me download the game through their anymore the only way I was able to get it back was by downloading the game through steam and dragging all the game files into a folder on my desktop steam just always pauses the download right when it finishes but the files for the game still pop in the steam download folder I have since patched it and got it running just having an issue with 2dfx my lod lights keep blinking if u know any fix by chance any help would be greatly appreciated if not thank you for replying anyway g looks on the downgrader bro

Having issues. Using clean Steam version, I've used downgrader (with new vladivostok), game launches through RSGL, game opens and is black (no legal info) then crashes.

 

Uninstalled, tried launching clean Steam game, made it to menu to choose IV or the episodes. Tried downgrader again, launched and same crash.

 

Tried turning off internet, still crashing. Only other thing I have in the game folder are FusionFix files, put in after downgrade.

 

Can someone please give me some assistance? Running Win 10, 2080 Ti, no command arguments set into steam or in txt file.

Can you please check loading.rpf in PC/audio/sfx if songs there are not corrupted?
