NCONiall
Hi all, It's been quite some time since I've logged in here and I can't seem to find this being brought up anywhere else so forgive me if it already has been. I recently booted up GTA IV in what seems like an eternity and found I now have the complete edition which of course has seen about 50 songs cut due to expired licenses etc - so I downgraded and managed to get them all back. One thing I noticed is that prior to the downgrade, the pause menu music for TBoGT was changed to the default GTA IV one but the downgrade semi-fixed this. I say semi-fixed because I noticed the restored BoGT pause menu theme isn't exactly as it used to be (it is missing the 'guitar' riff). The music being played appears to be the MENU_STREAMED file within TBoGT's EP2_SFX.rpf - there's another file here called MENU_MUSIC and this seems to split the components of the theme up into BASS, DRUM, KEYS, GUITAR, and vocals among others. The GUITAR however, is a component I distinctively remember playing when the game was paused and this seems to be missing in-game in the downgraded CE; what we have is MENU_STREAMED just playing on loop. My guess is that originally, MENU_STREAMED played and the components from MENU_MUSIC were to play over this for variation, such as GUITAR and this functionality doesn't seem to have been restored. I wanted to know if anyone knows how this was originally coded and if it can be restored. I should add that this is such a tiny minor thing that it's not something I'm actively looking to get fixed, it's just pure curiosity at this point and to see if it's an easy fix. E: Looking through my older PC copies, it seems that this was always the case - perhaps I'm remembering the console version, I'll have a look and see if it's different. It's weird because if you type TBoGT pause theme into YouTube they all differ from what is presented in the PC version, and the guitar riff is definitely in the PC files. Note1: Since merging DLCs (TLAD and TBoGT) with main game, all songs are now combined. This was the case even before The Complete Edition, if you have bought these DLCs via GFWL marketplace. There is no way to disable TBoGT Vladivostok songs on IV and vice versa without any additional modifications! Download link How do you use this with version 1.0.8.0? Fedinambar
Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but it seems the GTA IV downgrader in the OP only downgrades the radio? The executable still says version 1.2.0.43. Another issue I'm having is the game crashes if I try to change radio via mouse wheel or joypad directionals. Igor Bogdanoff
it only downgrades the radio yes there was never agreement in community on used version and i personally dont see gain of multiplayer played mostly by hackers. as for crashing, have you downgraded clean steam or rgl version? Magic_Al
Would it be a good suggestion to incorporate any exclusive longer versions of songs from the PS3 version of GTA IV into the radio downgrader, to further preserve the entire soundtrack? The difference seems likely to have been due to DVD vs. Blu-ray capacity back then. NightmanCometh96
Igor Bogdanoff
If i knew how to rip ps3 audio files sure i also wanna incorporate the exclusive x360 tlad dlc song, but i cant rip audio from 360 too only way would probably be running the game on emulator/console and having some audio recording in menu and cutting stuff in audio editing soft, but that goes beyond my capabilities
